Full Character Name: Delilah Nesta Maddox
    Character Birthday & Age: May 30th 1991, 17
City & Country of Birth: Manchester, England
    Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Muggleborn
House & Year: Ravenclaw, 7th year

Wand: Delilah’s wand it 9’inches in length made of Elm wood with a smooth finish but a slight curve in the wand. The wood itself is very supple and makes for good protective spells. The core of the wand is a Phoenix feather.

Physical Description: Delilah thinks it is cruel and unusual punishment to be shorter than her brother, but she is 5’7 in height with is pretty average for females. She has average sized feet of 7 ½, and she has a pretty average body for someone her age. She doesn’t have a large or huge hips, she has more of an athletic build thanks to her quidditch playing, and football (soccer) when she is back home. It doesn’t hurt that she spends much of her time on a bike getting place to place when she is at home during the summer months. Her frame is also slender enough to following her mother’s footsteps of ballet.

Delilah has a young innocent face that is framed by shoulder length slightly wavy locks of brown hair. She wears it in a variety of styles but usually when she is lazy she leaves it loose around her face. Like her brother her eyes are a shade of blue and lucky for Delilah her eyes don’t give her away, she doesn’t care if they show anger or happiness it just bothers her when they show her sadness and unless she is crying her eyes don’t show those feelings.

Soft pale skin like her brother but it is on the sensitive side though so when she scratches or warm water hits her skin it starts to go quite red. This does make for an easy blush when she get flustered, which she feels gives away what she is thinking especially when nervous or embarrassed. She hates getting flushed but it happens from time to time.

Her make-up tendency is rather simple only using a bit of eye shadow now and then, but is never without some lip-gloss and Chap Stick in her bag. Her lips are one of her favourite features as her mouth is small but her lips are full. Just like her make-up is simple and natural, her clothing follows suit. When it comes to her street clothes she is rather loose fitting and soft colours. She is no stranger to skirts or dresses and looking feminine but she doesn’t feel the need to wear skintight clothing.

Personality Description: Delilah, how to describe the girl that is complicated. If you are anyone but her parents you might see that she is adaptable, and often goes with the flow. If you are her parents, or happen to be someone she dislikes she is very pigheaded and set in her ways. She doesn’t like to listen to criticism from people she dislikes or her parents. Delilah does have a bit of a problem when it comes to authority figures and the more rigid they are she feels like there is more of a challenge to defy them. Perhaps that is why she tests the waters with procrastinating on homework and studying, but don’t fear she always buckles down in the end.

Delilah was once a sweet little young girl, innocent and interested in Christianity, football, and dance. What happened? Well she had a taste of freedom. Hogwarts did not involve going to church every Sunday morning, helping out at Sunday school and being part of a church family. She got to learn things like magic, hang out with friends whenever, and got to sleep in on Sunday. She started speaking her mind to her parents and it would lead into her rebellious streak.

Since her teen years she has started to enjoy the flirtation and playfulness with boys around. She doesn’t date guys and then drop them she just leaves it to some flirting. When she does date someone it is not just a fling, she acts like a girlfriend and expects them to act like a boyfriend. She has been known to go for the baby boys, especially over the summer just to torture her father in particular as he doesn’t like the idea of his little girl dating.

Even if she has started to experiment with defying her parents and authority figures there is a good girl deep down inside still. Her conscience often gets the better of her, which results in a mad scramble to finish homework or cram in the hopes of getting a good grade. She is a bright girl she just needs to apply herself a bit more. Her conscience also sets in when she gossips about other people at school, and often hates that she stoops so low as to gossip but sometimes it is just so juicy. Delilah draws the line at starting rumours about people purely because she knows karma will come to bite her ten fold.

A thirst for knowledge is there; otherwise she wouldn’t have been placed in Ravenclaw. She is smart and she uses it, maybe a bit later than she should. Whether she will admit it or not there is always a book in her bag and she will often find a quite spot to read for some time on her own. When she is at home she reads while classical music plays for her quiet space so she works with what she can at Hogwarts.

Delilah is not afraid to let her opinions be known. She is always up for a good debate in class, especially if she knows a lot about the subject. With all the fiction and non-fiction reading she does she has a good amount of knowledge somewhere in that head of hers. Delilah does not have a short temper but she does have a temper that comes out normally in private or with less of an audience.

History: Lea and Rhys met when Lea was in town for a ballet show when they were twenty-two. They met at a party as a friend had dragged along Rhys and he was supposed to be his friend’s wingman, of sorts. In the end he found himself talking to Lea for most of the night leaving his friend to fend for himself. Rhys and Lea spent the next day together and the following day. He came to watch her shows and take her out for dinner, it was official Rhys Maddox was smitten. Even after the ballet left they kept it touch visiting each other on weekends. After a few years it came time for Rhys to pop the question to young Lea, but the only thing was she had to convert for their wedding. Rhys was on his way to becoming a Reverend and it just didn’t sit right with himself, his parents or others for him to marry a Jewish girl. Lea had no problem with converting because she loved Rhys and because she never been a really religious person.

After their marriage Lea still kept up with her professional dancing and Rhys became a reverend. They had a good life and it worked, it became a routine but they were happy. Lea even went to church every Sunday with Rhys when it did not conflict with some performer or practice. Things would change all at once for Lea as she fell during a practice tearing the ligaments in her right ankle. Lea was in her late twenties at this time so her recovery time was going to be longer than was desired and most likely would not return to its full strength to bare her weight on pointe. During her check up they decided to do a physical and they got another little surprise, she was expecting.

They were getting things ready for the baby the had a second bedroom in their home it was all going to be perfect, that was when they found out they were having twins. They had figured money was going to be tight with just the three of them but now their numbers had risen to four. Lea and Rhys figured they could have made things work but it would mean their little ones would be sharing a room.

On May 30th 1991 Dagan Mervin Maddox was born, followed twenty minutes later by Delilah Nesta Maddox. Life was busy with two babies, keeping both parents busy. They were both baptized just before turning a year old. The twins were normal little kids, learning and interacting. Dagan learnt to talk first, but Delilah learned to walk before Dagan. They each had their own personality and seemed to have that twin connection. They managed to share their space with a few cries over toys being stolen.

When they were five and started school Lea found a job as a teacher of ballet, but her wages were really only enough to put more food in the house and clothes on her twins’ backs rather than money towards a house. Rhys and Lea wished to find a bigger home for the family, but they were making life work.

Delilah enjoyed school, always finishing off her homework early so that she could go off to football practice or ballet. Delilah was active and involve in activities which was another expense keeping them from getting that extra space in a bigger house. Delilah didn’t mind sharing her space with Dagan but sometimes he could just drive her up the wall. There was one particular day when they were arguing and it was probably the first time they did something at the same as in the midst of their shouting match the managed to produce magic together. Delilah and Dagan managed to explode ever light bulb in their room and crack a mirror in their anger. This was the first sign of magic in the muggleborn twins.

It was all explained by the arrival of a letter and a visit of an official to explain to the family what was going on with Delilah and Dagan. They were to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was not surprising that Rhys was a little apprehensive, the thought of witchcraft just sparked thoughts of evil in his mind. This was not what he had intended for his child, to go off and learn magic. After much discussion over the summer Rhys was persuade by Lea that this was a chance for their children to harness the magic that was so obviously there and that it didn’t change who they were. Once more new expenses sucked the house fund dry, especially with the house market the way it was. At least now they would be spending the majority of the year away so the strain for a bigger house was not felt as much.

That September Delilah and Dagan were off to school. The sorting was a great experience and Delilah found herself sorted into Ravenclaw. Delilah was very excited to learn all she could about Hogwarts and make new friends. She enjoyed the feast and was much too excited for the next day to get much of a sleep. Delilah was interested in her classes and always asking questions or giving out answers she had read. Unfortunately it was a new life style and the idea of going to church was not on the top of her list, but of course she would go when she was home for holidays but she was never exactly enthused about it.

Each year her rebellious side came out a bit more, it was more apparent at home then at school. Eventually by her fourth year she was testing the limits with slacking but still completing her work without rushing. Fourth year was also the year she decided to try out for the quidditch team, receiving a spot as keeper and this was the place she applied herself the most. Fifth year was a year she did put more effort in so she could get some good owl marks, but most of the effort was not put in until the end of the year.

Fifth year was also the year she really started dating, flirting and paying attention to the boys. She also fell in love with quidditch even more than before. Delilah started to rebel more even at Hogwarts. She started breaking a few minor rules now and then with boys or friends, and at home she was the moody teenager. Delilah loves her parents but right now they are just driving her mad. She is purposefully trying to drive her parents mad, but at least she still has some focus on her activities. Football being the more important to her out of the two, much to her mother’s displeasure.

Sixth year has been an interesting, she has been slacking but usually finishing her work rushed the day or two days before because her conscience sets in. Delilah calls herself the “queen of cram” and is just glad that she has some sense and is able to learn things quickly. A great memory also helps. Unfortunately Delilah has little drive to pick a career path, she has no idea what she wants to do at this point.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: When she was first sorted the hat saw her drive to learn what she could here at Hogwarts. It saw her knowledge and her willingness to learn and debate. It could not have expected the rebellious stage, but it had to see that would pull through in the end like she always does.

    Writing Sample:
The assignment was due three days from now, her conscience was telling her to just pick up the book and write the essay. She was trying to come up with reasons not to but when all she had to do was hide in a corner and read it was hard to talk herself into just leaving the work undone. Delilah lay on her bed looking at the ceiling, she had to find away to procrastinate, and she was not going to do the assignment until tomorrow.

“I am not sitting here anymore,” she grumbled to herself, she had not realized someone had snuck into the dorm room. “That was not directed to you,” she said as someone had mumbled a reply to her. Delilah flipped some of her hair from her face to no avail as her hair just fell forward again. Sweeping it behind her ear did the trick as she rolled herself from her bed. “Want any food from the kitchen?” She asked her housemate feeling it was polite.

In Delilah’s mind the best way to procrastinate was to eat and that she would do. She shrugged her shoulders when she got no reply shoved her feet into some flip-flops and went off to the common room. Perhaps she could track her bro down for a little trip to the kitchen. She hummed Clair De Lune as she trotted down the steps and entered the common room. She swaggered over to some of her friends and peaked into the conversation between their heads as she leaned over the couch. “Food anyone?” She wiggled her eyebrows in a slightly silly manner. One of them mentioned it was getting late, but one of the boys seemed up for the trip. “Well come on then,” she said with a flirty tone she had used many times before and held out her hand for him as she slowly moved backwards towards the door.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Delilah is a twin but she is an individual. She is close to her twin brother but she knows when she needs space or when he does. Delilah does like school but she is going through a rebellious stage, but she always pull through with work in the end.

The Facts of Life....or Just Delilah

Loves classical music. She is often listening to it when she is at home especially on her music player for when she needs to sleep and needs something soothing. Her favourite piece if Clair De Lune by Debussy.

When she is angry she steals her brother’s metal music to vent out her anger. She prefers to do this in private but doesn’t mind if Dagan is in the vicinity. She has to share her space with him.

Delilah participates in ballet when she is at home, and even brings her ballet shoes to school to get a bit of practice in when she can. Delilah is not focused enough with ballet to make it too the big time though. She doesn’t pay attention to her feet, nor does she have the heart her mother had. She much prefers to kick a football around or catch a quaffle from making a score.

She is Anglican Christian, her parents hope she comes back to her faith with she is seemingly rebelling against. Her mother understands, but her father is find this rebellion hard, and he prays for her.

Shares a room with her brother since her parents cannot afford a new house yet. It is separated by a sheet for privacy and has been so since they were twelve. Unfortunately it is not sound proof so she has to listen to her brother’s music and it is not soothing at all.

Delilah loves to sing in the shower, but she is down right terrible singer. The girl goes off key when she sings, but at least she can hum a bit. Delilah is a tad tone deaf when she sings though.

Nickname is Del, not Lilah. You call her Del or Delilah. She will not answer to Lilah, or ask you “are you talking to me?”

Her first name is Hebrew, her middle name Nesta is Welsh. This is in honour of her relatives. Delilah is a family name from her mother’s side.

Delilah is actually worried that she had no aspirations for work yet, she just feels at a loss for what to do. She is contemplating talking to a Professor but hopes she doesn’t get pigheaded on them.

A sucker for a bad boy and an Irish accent, if you mixed the two she just might drool.

Is a big Manchester United fan and loves to scrap up enough money to see the game. She loves Rooney, and even has posters of him on her wall and his Jersey.

Is afraid of needles to the point she would puke. Somehow she got her nose pierced, but she did puke after. Her nose stud is very subtle.

    She is allergic to mushrooms.

Back home she frequents museums and art galleries, she gets a pass ever time she comes home so she can visit whenever she wants.

Del travels everywhere by bike over the summer.

Needs corrective lens, which are in the form of contacts and black rimmed glasses.

Will work Reducto Records during the summer.

Loves her cowboy hat, her brother tends to hide it on her to piss her off.

Delilah is a fan of jewellery and has a few pieces that she likes to wear, but there is one piece she is never without. Her necklace given to her by Atticus Pennyapple for her birthday is always worn, she never takes it off. It is a silver chain and pendant of clogs. The pendant symbolizes an inside joke the two share. Even though it is a new piece of jewellery she would feel lost without it and would be very upset if she lost it. It was designed and made for her a fact she is rather proud of.

Delilah in the form of Pictures

Little and cute, so innocent then.

She rode her bike a lot even then. Though she wont forgive her mother for the clothes.

A little older, a little wiser? Perhaps?

The old days, and old friends, with old shag carpet.

A good book hidden on her person somewhere, or in plain sight.

    Delilah and her Camera
    Her new hobby and love

For Delilah's 17 birthday she received one gift from her parents, which is customary especially if it is an expensive gift. This year her parents purchased her a camera as she always complained about not being able to show her parents Hogwarts for what it truly was. Of course she likes to make it so her parents are pulling their hair out in frustration but she also likes to let them in on her life. Plus with a camera she could definitely make them squirm with potential picture ideas. Of course Delilah is actually much more interested in developing her skill and talent with pictures, to actually make them artistic. Maybe Atticus is rubbing off on her?

Be warned Delilah will be armed with her camera from now on. If you see her over the holidays you will probably see a flash before you see her face.

    An In-depth Profile
    What is below the surface?

On the surface Delilah seems like she is completely sure of herself, especially in the way she acts around people or the things she might get up to. The way she easily rebels against authority it as if she is completely sure of herself. This is not the case because in truth Delilah is actually very self-conscious and is actually quite hard on herself. Delilah hates criticisms of people in places of authority, probably because she worries about living up to their expectations, but the biggest critic in her life is herself. Del has a very bad habit of being hard on herself, or thinking less of herself. She hides these feelings well but it is a constant battle. She hates to disappoint herself but she hates disappointing others even more. It is funny that she hates putting effort in school so much, but it is more to do with the want to rebel and see how far she can hold off before the mad scramble to do work.

Rebellion is not to get attention like many would assume. Rebellion is something that Delilah does for herself, to see how far she can push herself. She wants to see how far she can let things slide and how out of control she can let her life become. It is almost like a rush to her, a bit of adrenaline from doing something against the rules. She knows it drives her friends and parents up the wall, enough so that they are tearing their hair out over it. Delilah says she has everything in control, and normally she does. One day she is bound to let things go a bit too far and make a right mess of everything. The whole rebelling against the man thing is just her way of controlling her life like she doesn’t think she can otherwise. If she rebels people will expect less of her and then she only has her expectations to live up too.
Despite being a major flirt, and having some experience when it comes to boys and dating, Delilah is a very Christian girl. She can often find herself thinking in terms of the bible, or comparing something in her life to it. Her father would be so proud, and actually probably be a bit relieved to know this. Delilah is a little embarrassed by her faith, especially in a world to do with magic. Delilah is constantly battling with the idea that her father thinks the magical side of her is a sin, and is always curious if he truly thinks that. Delilah is afraid that if she presents her Christian side at school she would be judged for it.

Dating has always something that interested Delilah, but she has only had one real boyfriend and that was George Carter. He was her first boyfriend and was the first person she let get that close to her. This relationship did not make it further than the end of summer really, maybe that had something to do with Delilah’s fear of commitment. She is afraid to get too attached and have her heart broken. Del wants to experience the closeness of a relationship but she is very nervous about taking that first step to admit it is something real. If she admits it is a real relationship she has more potential of getting hurt. If things are just flirty and not official she could always pretend it doesn’t hurt as much.

Loving her brother is not something you have to question, as she really does love her brother, but the boy can drive her up the wall. They share too close of space all the time and he really can just get in the way. The once place that Delilah struggles with her relationship with Dagan is quidditch. She loves quidditch, the game is fabulous and at times can consume most of her thoughts and time, but with Dagan as her captain it is a bit of a power struggle. No she could not claim quidditch to be her
thing and only her thing, no matter how much she might have wanted too. She hates that Dagan is in charge and can legitimately boss her around, which is why she is often seen as one of the team members that does not listen. Delilah likes to push Dagan’s buttons just as much as he enjoys doing it to her; only thing is she often does it on the pitch. As much of a pain in the butt Delilah is she is a fantastic keeper that gets the job done and is always focused during the game. Admittedly, as a fleeting thought, she has thought of quidditch as a career path if she cannot find anything else she enjoys as much. Only thing is does she have the talent?

Delilah would never say that being a twin sucked because she love Dagan and could not imagine life without him. She of course would enjoy having her own room, but that is not exactly an option. Delilah is not ashamed of being poor she just hates that she cannot have the fine things many others have. She has to work for what she has and sometimes she may resent the people who have everything handed to them on a silver platter. Delilah is determined to never be embarrassed or ashamed because she is poor. She almost believes she had more of a grasp on the reality of the world and that harshness out there because of her financial situation. Delilah will never take things for granted like some might. One thing is for sure that Delilah will stand by is that she and Dagan never went without and her parents have done a great job in raising them. She truly believes they have gone without just so Dagan and her could have something and for that she thanks, even if she doesn’t actually say it.
