[Dec 13th; 6PM] Egg Hatching Ceremony on August 06, 2010, 11:54:06 AM The egg hatching ceremony will take place the evening of the 13th of December. Guests can arrive as early as 5-5:30; but the actual ceremony is at 6PM. The room includes some very tasty refreshments. A meal, snacks, drinks, etc. There are also little party favors. This is supposed to be a end of term party and the ceremony at the same time. Anyone who participated in the egg project is required to attend. Those who did not opt for hatching an egg or were not around beforehand are not required to attend, but they're certainly welcome. Also, as far as whose egg hatches, read carefully the following paragraph:Anyone who PMed me threads or mentions of their eggs will have their eggs hatch. It is up to you what happens when it hatches. If you feel like your characters did a great job with the egg, then have it hatch into something awesome. This could be an animal, prizes, money- anything really. If you feel like the egg was probably neglected somewhat, then when it hatches it will have something of no use inside. Please discuss with your partners how your eggs will hatch- don't just throw it out there without consulting them. This was a group project, after all. The following eggs will hatch:Neely & Figaro; Chance & Fauna; Callum & Beatrix; Bellatrix & Peyton; Blake & Ayla; Mysti & Josh; Evie (adrienne will get no credit); Xavier; Razzy & ErinThe following eggs will not hatch:Regina & Roxanne; Trent & EmilyIf either of you forgot to send me a thread, the cut off date for receiving credit has passed. This has been on going for almost two months now.Declan is not yet in attendance. He is probably going to be running late- but everyone else should be on time. Have fun! Start posting! He had the egg with him, in a paper sack. It had weathered his care well enough. There were some chips, but no all out cracks. And while it wasn't as warm as it was when they first got it a week ago, it wasn't rock dead cold. And it still had a smeared black monster face drawn on one side. He and Neely had been in a custody battle over the gender of the egg. Neely insisted she was a she and Figaro insisted it was a dinosaur. So the egg had had a rough childhood. He put the egg bag down on the desk with a thump and meandered around the room, poking at display skeletons and rubbing off select letters on the blackboard. If I'm wrong, I'll edit!)When Fauna opened the door to the Care of Magical Creatures classroom, she expected to see the professor sitting at his desk, as rigidly polite as ever. But the desk was empty. Snacks, pitchers of drinks, and bright napkins rested neatly on a long table. Off to the side Figaro Sellaphix was smudging letters messily on the board. Fauna let out a chuckle and then a small sigh of relief. "How's Dino holding up?" Fauna asked him, sitting on one of the desks and glancing warily at the drinks. She wouldn't put it past the professor to magically poison it just for the Hufflepuffs. She hoped her nickname for the egg would get a smile out of him. With the way Neely had been treating it, Fauna wouldn't be surprised if it hatched with pink frills and a bonnet. "Spot's extra jumpy today," Fauna commented, peeking inside her backpack to make sure the egg was still swaddled inside. It rattled in greeting. She took out the egg and held it on her lap, swinging her legs a bit, and glancing every once in a while at the door. This egg project was a nuisance at times, but also fun. The egg jumped slightly out of her hands. "Don't make me put you back in the bag!" Fauna told Spot, shaking her head. A week ago she would have been embarrassed to be seen talking to an egg. It didn't even phase her now. She was actually somewhat sad that the project was coming to an end. It had given her an excuse to spend even more time than she usually did with Blake, which considering he was already her best friend was quite a lot. It was actually rather surprising that Professor O Morain wasn't there yet but at least she was in the presence of two of her fellow Hufflepuffs. If the Professor did arrive before the other students they could at least band together. Strength in numbers right? Ayla didn't understand why O Morain hated the Hufflepuffs so much but she wished he would keep his opinions to himself instead of voicing them to the entire class. She wouldn't be surprised if a few of the seedier students started putting down the Huffles just to get in his good books.Ayla took a seat next to Fauna chuckling as the older girl's egg seemed to hop around the desk some, "Still having trouble keeping him still?" Blake had actually enjoyed caring for something with his friend and he appreciated seeing that side of Ayla. It had occurred to him on more than one occasion as he watched her with the egg that she would probably make a very good mother some day, if that was something that she wanted to do.Grinning as he slid into the seat beside her, Blake saw that she was talking with Fauna. Waiting until he wasn't interrupting, he reached out and patted the egg before he greeted them both. "Hey Ayla. How's our hopefully soon-to-be hatched 'thing'?" And to the older Hufflepuff, he quipped, "And how are you, One-Who-Has-My-First-Name-As-Her-Last-Name?" He had it wrapped up in a small blanket and huddled in his arms, the way he might carry a quaffle while zooming down the pitch. His cool grey blue eyes searched the class for his partner but there was no sign of the darker Dark twin. With sigh and shrug of his shoulders he made his way to his desk and gently placed the egg on top. he then left to get himself something to drink. Thankfully the Professor had provided beverages and snacks for this 'ceremony' of theirs.Peyton had actually enjoyed the project and was almost sad that it was coming to an end. Surprisingly eough he had actually gotten along well with Bellatrix. They didn't have a whole lot in common but they could talk each others ears off when it came to Quidditch. It was so refreshing to meet a girl that was into the sport as much as he was. Although the partnership had resulted in even more fist filled run ins with Xavier. Apparently the snarky Slytherin didn't take kindly to the fact that Peyton was partnered up with his girlfriend. Peyton took it all in stride, if Xavier wanted to be a big baby about the fact that Peyton had been randomly paired up with his girlfriend, so be it. No skin off of his back, although it was taking some skin off his nose and knuckles. Xavier made a mental note to thank the pint sized Slytherin for helping him out with the project. Although he was basically using her so that he didn't have to do all the work himself, she had done a good job and Xavier was contemplating using her for other things in the future. Afterall it always paid off to have a lackey or two that followed your every command. Noriko was a great lackey.Unbeknownst to him the egg that was wriggling around in his book bag, wrapped in several scarves and a spare jumper provided by the first year, was holding a special surprise for him. When enlisting Noriko to help him out with the project Xavier had no idea that he was giving the entire first year class free reign with his egg. Noriko had brought it back to him every night like they had arranged and he had always handed it to her the following day without incident or hangerson. Xavier was completely clueless as to what actually happened to the egg while it wasn't in his care.He scanned the classroom for anyone that was worth talking to. Unfortunately no one there was on friendly terms with Xavier. Figaro was still keeping his distance after the whole Knockturn Alley incident, Ayla seemed to be giving him even more death glares than usual since Bella crashed her party, he hated Blake just on principal, Fauna was a ditz and Peyton was his greatest rival. Rolling his eyes and heaving his book bag higher up on his shoulders he took the desk farthest from the rest of the students and waited for someone worth while to enter the class. He would take it out when it was time. Josh had worked well with Mystique and was looking forward to the egg hatching. He wondered what it'd be. if he wasn't mistaken, the egg was quivering with excitement. Looks like Josh wasn't the only one looking forward to the ceremony. Skip to next post
