A wanted Werewolf {Lexus}

on August 04, 2010, 04:12:21 PM

[December 11th]

The red headed and red robbed Auror was in Gringotts Wizarding Bank surrounded by countless small Goblin's Paul Martin had just with drawn some money from his Vault, Number 201. A Goblin had escorted him, in a small cart like veichle, to his Vault he did not have much money in his Vault, most of his own money was in a Muggle Bank and he had not yet turned the money into British Wizarding currency, he allowed most of his money to be spent by his younger sister. Paul Martin had never warmed to the Goblin's, he had nothing against them, but they were just so unsociable, or at least the one's he had met were. Martin's stood up from the bench he was sitting on and left the Wizarding Bank Goblin's all around him working. Some were measuring Gold, other's eyeing him up and Martin's was quite sure they were on security.

As he left the bank he was in the middle of a bustling crowd full of Wizard's and Witches, and even some other being's, he had never liked to be in large crowd's so he was not really enjoying himself so he decided he would try and find a shop he could duck into with out walking for to long, he was also a little thirsty. So he decided he wanted to find some where he could get a drink. He was not sure where he was exactly as he had never spent that much time in Diagon alley since his school day's. However he knew the Leaky Cauldron was nearby and he decided that was where he was going to go. Paul continued to move through the crowd until he reached the Leaky Cauldron he had never been inside but had heard good thing's about it.

The Auror entered the pub which he found to be crowded and full to the brim. The smell of alchol was in the air and Wizard's and Witche's alike where drinking and talking. He was not sure what they were saying but he knew it was loud and he did not like it one bit. There was only one booth that was not full so he quickly took it before any one else did. As he sat a waiter came over and asked him what he wanted. "A glass of Fire whiskey please."

Paul was bored and pulled out his wand. It was 10'' long, Unicron Hair and Cherry Wood. The wood made it almost totally red at the base of the handle and the tip of the wand was a very dark wood, almost totally black. He moved the wand in a circular motion and suddenly a minature swan was on the table and began to move around the table. A few second's later the waiter came back with a crystall glass and placed it on Paul's table, in return Paul gave him a few Galleon's and a tip.

Lexus wasn't usually a patron of the Leaky Cauldron, when it came to her choice in drinks the Chimaera always delivered but she was working on a case and so the honey haired Canadian was sitting at the bar chatting up the inn keeper all the while keeping an eye on a squat little wizard in the far corner who was skipping out on his rent. It wasn't the most glamorous of cases that she had been assigned since becoming a 'partner' or sorts for Jonas but it paid the bills. Lexus usually stuck to the muggle cases but since this was a rather mild wizarding case that wasn't going to put her in any trouble Jonas had allowed it.

She was sipping a pint of ale, working her charm on the inn keeper and completely unaware of who had walked into the pub. She had been living so comfortably in her new flat, with her new job and new friends that the ever looming threat of the Ministry had somehow become an after thought. While the threat was still there she assumed she was safe in her new life and was actually being really careful about not letting those closest to her know about being werewolf.

She sent a glance to the squat wizard in the corner. Her instructions were just to follow, absolutely no interaction. All that was required of her was the map out a weekly schedule of his activities so that his landlord could track him down long enough to get the missing galleons out of him. It was an easy dull assignment but it allowed her to walk through Diagon at her leisure and enjoy a pint at a pub she normallay didn't go into.

Paul watched the minute Swan dance on the table, well not dance but it seemed to do allot of hoping about that looked quite allot about the tango. With a wave of his Cherry wood wand the Swan vanished from sight as it was transported to a nearby lake and turned into a fully sized living being. As Paul was so busy watching the swan had had missed who had just walked in but not for long. Paul glance up and saw a young woman at the bar, he would guess she was about his age, and he was almost sure he had seen her face before but he was not one hundred percent sure.

It took him a few seconds before he realised whom she was but he still could not be sure until he got a better look. Paul thought it was Lexus Dale, a werewolf who was being watched by the ministry and had already killed. However Paul had not read the inns and out's of the case as he just wanted to be sure he knew who he should be looking out for. He stood from his seat, leaving the crystal glass as full as it had been when the waiter had brought it to him, and manouvered his way though the crowd until he was behind the potential criminal.

Most people would notice he was an Auror, afterall he was wearing the red robe's. Paul hoped the woman was not a criminal and he would not have to arrest her, but he would do what he had to. Deciding to use a gentle method he did not take out his wand, but his right hand was on the hilt of the weapon, instead he extended his hand and tapped her shoulder while he spoke. "Lexus Dale?"

Thankfully Lexus was engaged enough in her conversation that she didn't really hear the man behind her say her name but she couldn't ignore the hand on her shoulder, "Hmmm?" She asked almost absent mindedly as she spun on her bar stool only to see red and a lot of it. She swallowed a lump in her throat sure that the sound would be audible enough for the Auror to hear even over the roar of conversation in the pub. She steeled herself doing her best not to seem overly surprised by seeing a fully robed Auror standing behind her, one that had specifically picked her out of a crowd and had he just said her name?

Thinking as quickly on her feet as she could Lexus adopted a look of a young woman that was not all that pleased to see an Auror approaching her, she tapped her feet and purposely looked around nervously like a teenager that just got their liscence and pulled over by a cop. If she played this right there was no reason for this guy to take her in, especially since he looked like he could be a rookie. If he was a rookie he'd be a lot easier to deal with. After all her paranoia may have been for nothing. She had no proof that the Auror's back home had contacted the ones here so there was no sense in shooting herself in the foot before she got all the details.

"Can I help you?" She gave him an unsure smile not one that spoke guilt but just uncertainty.

As she did not turn around when he spoke he assumed she had not heard him or she was simply ignoring him. He remained silent and unmoving as he waited for the woman to turn around. He knew the second he saw her he would now if it was Lexus Dale or not and nothing she could do would change that, now he was just waiting for the potential werewolf to turn around and see him after she had finished her conversation with another man, he wished she would finish it quicker.

As she turned around his face remained motionless and un changing. He was a rookiee and he had been judged many times already for it and he wanted more than anything right now to look a few year's older. Paul was still a very powerful and resourcefull wizard, to become an Auror you had to be and he wanted more respect instead of people thinking they could just walk or talk their way around him, he hated it in fact and when she turned around it seemed Lexus Dale would be another one.

The second he saw her he knew she was the one. However Paul did not let it show and he did not want to do anything potentially dangerous in a public place. "I am Paul Martin, from the Auror Department could I have a few moments of your time?" He asked the sentence had come straight from the guide book and it was obvious however he wanted to do everything he could to make sure no one innocent get's harmed or worse. "Please come and sit with me." He said pointing to the booth he had just come from.

He moved and sat down, noticing his Firewhiskey was gone he frowned but pushed the empty glass aside. He took out his wand and cast a spell which would make sure they were not heard. "In short, I suspect you are the Werewolf known as Lexus Dale, a canadian criminal who brutally murdered two people on purpose during the full moon." He did not point his wand at her but had it in his hand on the table so she could see it.

Lexus followed the man to his booth. If she ran now it would only be a sign of her guilt and she doubted she could apparate away before the man could apprehend her, especially given the way her magic was out of control lately. She actually didn't dare trying to apparate away. If a simple blush charm had managed to turn her entire body pink for two days she didn't even want to think about what apparating might do to her.

She sat down with the Auror still keeping a look of uncertainty about her. She wouldn't do anything to admit her guilt but she also wasn't going to make it look like she was being calm, cool and collected. Afterall what normal citizen would be relaxed when an Auror asked them to have a few words? She nervously watched him perform a few silencing spells to keep others from being able to eavesdrop. He definitely meant business which meant she was probably screwed. So much for her new life. She found that in that moment sitting with the red robed man she was mostly concerned about Jonas and leaving him behind. What would he do if his new assistant was shipped off to Azkaban or worse, terminated?

As he accused her she was suddenly aware of the bite and claw marks that covered ninety percent of her back and was glad she was just as covered up as she usually was. She bit back her retort. An irrational anger was boiling up inside her. How dare he?! She didn't kill her parents on purpose, it had been an accident. She didn't even know she was a werewolf and the ministry had ruled so. Swallowing again Lexus adopted a calm tone she didn't really feel and a British accent she had picked up from all of the time she had spent in close proximity to Jonas, "I'm sorry but I have no idea what you're talking about." She tried to give him a nervous smile, "Um my name is Miranda Hallowell I was born here in London and I graduated from Hogwarts. I'm currently making, well at least trying to, make a living selling health portions. I definitely am not a werewolf, nor do I ever plan to be, disgusting horrible beasts."

OOC: Are you, by ancy chance, a Charmed Fan?

So how is she going to react?. Was the Auror's first thought. Paul had often thought about becoming a Legilimens and after this encounter, even though it had just begun, he decided he would learn about the art as soon as possible, after all it would come in very handy right now.  But is it right to invade someone's last sanctuary? Paul thought as he waited for the young woman to join him in the booth. He looked around and saw a few people were watching them, he waved his hand telling them to leave them.

He was happy she had not run, he was not in the move to run after her and he would of probally used a simple leg lock curse to stop her from escaping. With his hand in hand he began to examine the young werewolf, as he was sure she was, unless she was a twin of Lexus Dale. He wondered how long she would stick with the story? Presmably forever after all Werewolve's were often terminated, which he thought was barbaric. He was not sure what to think of her, she did not look like a killer but he was still to young to tell. Some people said when Auror's had been at the job long enough they developed a sith sense for sensing Killer's but Paul was no where near that level yet.

"Lexus, we can go through this all day but I know who you are. I was given a photo of you, as all Auror's where, from the Candian Embassy." He said as she continued. "Also I disagree, Werewolve's are not vile creature's at all, they have an illness they can not control." Paul was not sure what to do next. "Tell me what happened, maybe I can help?"

Well that was unexpected. She sat across from him, her air of nervous uncertainty washed away to one of anger and hurt and indignation. The wolf inside her was annoyed that she had not been more careful, that she had been so caught up in a friendly conversation with the Inn Keeper that she hadn't noticed the Red Robe come in. Had she seen him before hand she could have made a stealthy retreat, probably head off to Knockturn and find sanctuary in the Chimaera or one of the less seedier shops. From there she could easily make it back to her flat, they wouldn't think she'd be hiding out in a muggle apartment right? Damn she was screwed and really wished she had Jonas with her. He'd know how to handle this.

She stayed silent for a while weighing her options. She could continue to stay on this path with her newest alias, try and do her best to convince him that she really was who she had said she was or she could admit guilt and hope to find him sympathetic to her cause. She just had a hard time believing that he didn't find werewolves disgusting and that he actually wanted to help her over arresting her. Her survival instinct however was winning out. If she admitted her true identity, even if he wanted to help her, it didn't mean his superiors did. As far as she was concerned the moment she admitted she was Lexus Dale, she was as good as dead, or worse rotting away in Azkaban.

"Look I'm sorry that I look like this girl you're looking for but I'm really not her." She sounded slightly pleading, all the while her hands under the table had pulled out her cell phone, a muggle contraption that she doubted most wizards knew about. With her eyes still on the Red Robe she sent a frantic text to Jonas:

Red Robe in LC
Need help ASAP
Call me Miranda

She tried to look sympathetic to the young Auror, "I think it's great that you've got a soft spot for werewolves and all but honestly why? They're vicious beasts that kill without thinking. They'll kill their own grandma's if given the chance."

Paul was rather angry now. He could of arrested her but he was offering her a potential way out and she was throwing it back in his face with out any thought. He could send her before the Wizenagamot and he was starting to think that was the best option he was finding it hard to read the young witch she was certinly nervous, but who wouldn't be if an Auror asked for a few word's.She was right about the ministry not excpecting were she was living and he did not really care he knew it was her and the way he saw it the jigg was up, she had to confess now or she would end up in Azkaban and he doubted she would survive in the Wizarding jail.

"Lexus, admit who you are now our you will go to Azkaban, and that is if you are lucky. Every one know's what the ministry does to the unfortunate people who are effected by the disease and have no control over their own bodies."

Paul could not imagine how it would feel. He had more control over his body then most Wizard's as he was an animagus which allowed him to change at will. He would hate to be forced to change, every month of his life, against his will. A time where he would hurt any one who got in his way no matter how close they were.

"Ms. Dale, I have no doubt a transformed werewolf would kill their Grandparent's but it is something they can not be blamed for, unless they position themselve's on purpose or go out of their way to transform in a Public place then I do not think they are any more vicious than some one under the Imperius Curse." He saw it like that but very few other's shared his view.

Being a Muggle born Paul knew what a mobile phone was however he did not use them. He had totally embraced his Wizarding life and left most thing's about the Muggle world behind, the only major thing he kept with him was his family. He had seen his father type under a table many time's and he recongised the movment's so he knew what she was doing. "Who are you texting Ms.Dale? Someone to come and save you from me? Maybe another Werewolf?"

Lexus rolled her eyes. Luckily she had always been a good actress and was determined to carry this out as far as she could. If he wasn't a Legilimens then she'd have no problem continuing on with her charade whether he actually believed it or not, which he obviously didn't. The important thing was that she didn't break character. She would go all the way to Azkaban denying who she was if she had to. Which really wasn't an option but there didn't really seem to be a way out this.

She slipped her phone back into her pocket and crossed her arms over her chest giving off an annoyed air that didn't even begin to scratch the surface of how she really felt. If it weren't for his wand she'd probably just over power him. As much as she hated to admit it she knew she had certain advantages over him just for being a werewolf even when she wasn't transformed.

Judging by the fact that he not only knew what a cell phone was but that he also knew about texting and how to tell if someone was texting under a table she figured he was a muggleborn. Something she might have to use against him later. As for his sympathy towards werewolves she still wasn't buying it. There may not have been a lot of prejudice against muggleborns back home but there was plenty of it against werewolves and Lexus seriously doubted that a man of the law believed such ideals.

"Would you stop with the Ms. Dale thing? Honestly my name's not Dale, or Lexus or whatever it is you keep calling me. It's Mir-an-da, get it through your head already." She reached into her back pocket and produced a leather wallet, the one she used while pretending to be a muggle. She opened it up and tossed a square piece of plastic onto the table in front of them. The slip of plastic being a National ID card listing her as a citizen of Britain over the age of eighteen and her name as Miranda Hallowell. It hadn't been hard for her to acquire one especially considering her gift with confunding muggles she just never imagined she'd use it on an Auror one day, "Happy?"

Once again she rolled her eyes, "If you must know I was actually texting my boss. Truth be told the whole health drink thing is just a project I do on the side. I'm currently working as a Private Investigator and I had to tell my boss that my target just got away because you wanted to talk to me. Which I don't think he'll be very pleased about by the way."
