    Plot Tracking & Networks

Because plotting and networking go hand in hand, I've combined the two ideas here! Please send me a PM or reply to this thread if you'd like to get involved in a plot I've described, talk about a new plot, or create and further connections between our characters. There's no specific form to fill out; just let me know what you think and we can go from there!

    Who is Maggie?
    23 years old
    Freelance Journalist

    Traits:
    • Moody
    • Easily Annoyed
    • Honest
    • Driven
    • Protective
    • Loyal
    • Stubborn
    • Sarcastic

    A Short History

Maggie was born in a halfblood family with two very supportive, kind parents. She had a relatively happy childhood even with Voldemort's rise to power, and her family did their part to hide and protect muggleborns and other potential victims. Her first year at Hogwarts was very difficult for her, considering who was running the school at the time (Snape at the Carrows). However, after that year she discovered a talent for writing and made a few close friends. When she graduated from Hogwarts she decided to travel through Europe and hone her writing skills, reporting for some of the local newspapers in the towns she visited. When she returned home to England in her early twenties, she got a job as a freelance journalist at the Daily Prophet.

    Initial Personality

Growing up, Maggie was an intelligent girl who thought a lot about the problems in the world and wanted to make a difference. Her abrasive, critical personality often pushed people away, though she did manage to let a few friends in. She gets offended easily and reacts by lashing out or complaining. However, she is extremely loyal and will show this in her actions more often than her words.

    Her Personality Now

Maggie has matured a bit since returning to England, though she still has a long way to go. She lives in a flat with her friends Kia and Colette, and she's becoming reacquainted with older friends that she'd lost touch with while she'd been traveling.

She enjoys her job, and has an ambitious streak that makes it hard for her to realize when she is pushing too hard or putting herself in a dangerous situation. However, because of her involvement in the Runespoor Explosion, she's become more subdued and much more careful. She tries not to admit it, but the experience rattled her and has made her overly cautious. With time, she'll probably get her drive back and seek out exciting stories again.

    Plots and Relationships

    The Runespoor Explosion

One night in mid-October, Maggie decided to go skulking around the Black Chimeara,  Cináed Tawse's pub. She wanted to put a bug on the place so she could catch any interesting conversations going on within and get Cin into heaps of trouble. Why this grudge against Cin? Well, he threatened her friend Niobe for snooping, and Niobe finally told her about it early in September. Maggie decided to get revenge on him by... snooping (not her brightest moment).

Unfortunately, she ran into Nate Briggs, who was carrying this crate of Runespoor venom. One thing led to another and the venom exploded, injuring Nate, Maggie, and Cin's dog Seamus. Cin walked out of his pub to investigate, saw the damage to his property and his dog, and began raging at them. Cin got a hold of Maggie's wand while Nate apparated to safety. Cin threatened her with her own wand, and then the Aurors arrived. A distraction by Dazmond Weidman enabled Cin to apparate away with Maggie in tow as his hostage. Eventually, the Aurors found Maggie again and she was finally treated at St. Mungo's. She still has burn scars on her arms and legs that the healers couldn't remove.

Since then, she's developed a friendship with Adon Eleor, one of the Aurors on the case. He asked her for help when his brother submitted an article to the Prophet challenging a dangerous blood purist group, and they bumped into each other again at the Winter Festival.

    The Cursed Egyptian Dagger

Maggie has been lucky enough to stumble on the biggest scoop (in her opinion) of the year! Her recent visit with Lexus Dale helped her put the pieces together, when Lexus revealed that a cursed dagger is causing some wizarding folks to lose their magic and others to experience outbursts of uncontrolled magic.

In August, Maggie wrote the article about the disastrous Egypt dig, and also wrote the article about the Magical Epidemic in November, two events that were thought to be unrelated. Come January, when mummies invaded the British museum, she wrote a blurb about that too. The news from Lexus helped her understand how the curse spread and where it came from, and exactly who's involved.

The catch? Maggie can't print it just yet. She's agreed to hold back on printing the article until Lexus and the others have found a cure for the curse. In return, Lexus will find Jonas for her, allowing Maggie to interview more sources.
