The Morgan FamilyDum Spiro Spero"While I breathe, I hope."
History:Morgan is an extremely common surname in Wales. Welsh Morgans have spread to nearly every place in the world, with the largest concentrations in America, the UK, France, Australia, and Jamaica. However, this particular branch of Morgans is the Wizarding branch, and they can trace their origins back through direct descendants to the 1500s. Beyond that, the records get hazy, and the Muggle Morgan and Wizarding Morgan ancestors are indistinguishable. Sir William Morgan, born in 1560, is regarded as the forefather of the Wizarding Morgan line and the first Wizarding lord of Tredegar house.
The Morgan family has an embarrassing and well-known propensity for birthing squibs, composed partly of centuries of inbreeding and partly of pure bad luck. Equally well known is their penchant for, if no suitable pureblood marriage can be found, snatching up Muggle Morgans to keep the name going. Members of this family tend to be both stubborn and ambitious, and show no consistent preference towards either Light or Dark magic.
The current patriarch of the family is Artur Morgan. The current wizarding heir is firstborn Darian Morgan, succeeded by his brothers Rhys and Thane Morgan.

Family Tree - WIP*Concerning squibs: It is a quaint but old-fashioned tradition of the family that squibs were often named Aled if they were male; it means, simply, "offspring" in Welsh. There have been numerous Aleds, and quite a few Aleddryses, in Morgan history.
Tredegar House on the outskirts of Newport, Wales. Its loss to the city in 1974 was a result of Cadoc Morgan's heavy reliance on the victory of Grindelwald; after incurring too many debts and too many enemies, he fled in 1945. The remaining family sold the house in 1951, and it became a school, then, eventually, property of Newport county.
