Physical Description:
Anyone could tell you that Audrey Chancelier-Dark was beautiful. Even if a person had never met her before, they knew. In her prime, she was one of the top wizarding models. Her pictures were plastered everywhere, so it was very easy to know what Audrey Chancelier (before she was married) looked like. But even when her name preceeded her physical appearance, it was already known that she was a person of exceptional beauty, with striking blue eyes and flowing blonde hair. Although she has four children, Audrey keeps her body in great shape, with no sign of whatever physical toll pregnancies have on a body. Of course, with magic (and a seemingly infinite cash flow), the former French model could easily maintain her perfect body.
Personality Description:
Riches and beauty sometimes come at a heavy cost, and in the case of Audrey Chancelier-Dark, that price was paid with her personality. Snobbish, vain, and cruel-these words could easily describe Audrey, if you were asking someone else for their opinion of the woman. But for Audrey, these are just misinterpretations of who she really is.
Snobbish? Not at all. Audrey only likes the best of everything, and why shouldn’t she? If she can afford it, then there is no reason why she can’t have it. No reason at all. And in Audrey’s opinion, everything is purchaseable, you just have to find the right price. And the best of everything also means keeping the best company. There are certain people who can easily mar someone’s reputation. In Audrey’s opinion, it’s just best to stay away from those type of people alltogether. And it doesn’t bother her one bit to exclude people based on their social status, looks, or family. With 6 billion people on the planet, she sees no reason to befriend all of them.
Vain? Hardly. She just knows that she’s beautiful and does her best to maintain that appearance. After years of having people faun over her in photoshoots and magazine spreads, Audrey learned the true power of her beauty and how she could use it to gain whatever she desired. One key to keeping that power was to make sure she always looked her best. Audrey couldn’t very well be seen walking around in last year’s dresses; that would be a social disaster. There is a certain look to Audrey Chancelier-Dark, and if that were to change in anyway, well, then people might start to view her differently, and she definitely could not have that happening.
Cruel? Never. Ok...maybe she’d admit to this one just a little bit. But it’s not her fault if those around are won’t listen and she had to take more drastic measures to make sure that things get done her way. People could avoid a lot of backlash from her if they’d just know their place in relation to Audrey (always beneath her) and treat her with the respect that is due to her. It should be common knowledge by now that what Audrey Chancelier-Dark wants, she gets, no exception. And she’ll make sure to use any means possible to acheive her goals. She’s focused and determined, that’s how Audrey would describe herself. People who think that her methods are cruel have become too soft by political bullshit about equal rights for all people. Equal rights....what a joke.
History:
Audrey Chancelier had a charmed life. Born into one of the oldest and wealthiest pureblood lines, Audrey grew up with the world at her fingertips. For her and her siblings, they knew that they could go through life without lifting a finger and be completely supported by their family wealth and heritage. But that wouldn’t make for a very interesting life, now would it?
She knew at a young age that she was beautiful. Her mother told her it all the time, people around town would always talk about “that gorgeous Chancelier girl” and when she attended Beauxbatons, boys were lining up left and right to ask her out. And when Witch Weekly decided to do an international article about the fashion in other wizarding schools, Audrey was an easy choice to be one of the featured students. When it came time to graduate, Audrey had no desire to do any behind the scene jobs, or ones that required her to do too much work, so she thought, why not put her good looks to work for her? She signed on to a modeling agency when she was finished with school and her career took off. Within six months, she was one of the biggest fashion names in the industry; her body plastered in every magazine and billboard across all of Europe, and then worldwide.
It wasn’t easy work, as Audrey came to realize, but by that time, she was determined, so she stuck to it. Besides, she really did love all the attention. Her life was even better than she imagined. And of course it did her parents proud, to see their family name gaining even more recognition.
But things would change in the summer of 1990.
Audrey had been sent to Wales for one of the biggest wizarding runway shows of the year. All the big name designers were showing their fashions and for the models who were lucky enough to make it in the show, it was their big break, if they were not already established. Audrey was excited because she was the opening and finishing model for Jean Pierre de La Marquis, the top name in French wizarding fashion. The show was a great success and it was during the after party that Audrey met Michael Dark. She was immediately attracted to him. He was cute, confident, and obviously came from money; what wasn’t to like? They flirted shamelessly as the night wore on, sharing drinks and eventually finding their way to his hotel suite. And it wasn’t until the next morning that Audrey had a clear enough mind to recall his last name, and realize that he was from the Dark family.
Everyone at some point in their life knew of the Dark family, and none of it was ever good. But how could this charming man laying beside her be a part of that family? She had seen nothing wrong with him. That didn’t matter though. In a society where reputations were everything, Audrey knew that if news of her little adventure got back home to her parents, there would be hell to pay.
So she said nothing, and was very grateful to find out that there had been no pictures in the papers of her on the arm of a mysterious man. There was something about him though that kept her thinking about Michael, and Audrey found many excuses to travel back to Wales for fashion business. They kept on with their secret relationship for a while, until Audrey realized some unsettling news in February of the following year. She was pregnant. She didn’t think it was possible, they had taken so many percausions, but sure enough, there was a young boy growing inside of her. Audrey had immediately made her way to Michael’s place, in a panic about what to do. This was serious. If news got out that Audrey Chancelier was pregnant it would be an end to her career. Not just with modeling, but everything would be ruined, even socially. Her family would feel the shame from the incident as well, and Audrey knew she would be a burden in their eyes. Michael understood the severity of the situation, and offered up the one solution that would bring the least amount of drama: they needed to get married.
Audrey wasn’t opposed to marriage, she always intended on taking a spouse one day, but she was also still very young. But she agreed, for several reasons. First, Audrey really did believe that she loved Michael. Despite his sullied family history, he had never treated her poorly. And the idea of being in love, married, and with a family is one that every girl wants to complete. Also, being married when she gave birth to their son would mean that no one would have to know underlying reason for the marriage, if they did it all quick enough. It wasn’t that difficult to cover up the truth. When Mikey was born in October, all it took was some shifting of paperwork, and a little bit of monetary incentive for things to get set up how they needed. As far as anyone knew (with the exception of Audrey and her husband), young Michael Dark III was born premature, making his date of conception just a few weeks after their marriage.
There were still issues to deal with, like the fact that her family was completely surprised, and not pleased, by her marriage into the Dark family. But Audrey was an adult, and in the end she told them all where they could shove their opinions. It was her life, not theirs. As for her modeling career, Audrey retired as a model right after the wedding, citing her reason being that they wanted to start a family. She didn’t leave the fashion industry though, but easily transitions from modeling clothes to designing them.
The family lived in Wales for a while, but after the birth of their last child, Erin, Audrey was finally able to convince her husband that they needed to leave. Wales was too dreary, and the estate of the Dark family was just....creepy. She had no fashion motivation there. Besides, London was where all the really great fashion was coming out of. Audrey already had a name for herself with her past modeling endeavors, and moving to London would make her even more accessible to the industry.
Life went on as normal, Michael running off to his Ministry job, Audrey working on her fashions, and the kids running around the estate, being cared for by the various nannies which had been hired for each child. But with her husband away so much, Audrey soon grew bored, and needy. It was obvious that her husband was not going to be working any less hours; he was married to his job as much as he was to her. So Audrey starting finding her own ways to satisfy her needs.
The first guy started off innocently enough, someone she had met through a fashion show, and after a few too many drinks, things ended up on a much different note than they had started. Audrey didn’t mind though, she was getting her attention. But after a while, she grew bored with him as well, and moved on to someone new. It wasn’t that she intentionally started out to cheat on her husband, but it was a progression, which seemed easier each time it happened. And it added an extra sense of adventure to her life. Sometimes it was a game for her, to see how close she could come to getting caught, and still keep Michael out of the loop of what was happening.
Well, she found out just how close she could come on the night that Michael came home early, and found Audrey and her most recent lover asleep in their bed. The other man was lucky, he barely got out of the house alive, with Michael shooting one spell after another at the guy. The next few days were rough, with lots of arguing and accusations, and Michael finally discovering the full extent of his wife’s infidelity.
The divorce was inevitable, but Audrey had no shame in what she had done. In her eyes, she had merely sought out her own ways to satisfy the way she felt neglected by her husband. The process was rough though, with the children in the middle of it. In the end, Michael took off with Beatrix to Wales while Audrey stayed in London with the rest of the children. Audrey kept at her work, and took her new-found freedom from the marriage as reason to be involved with whomever she wanted.
One thing that did change though was a slightly renewed interest in the lives of the three children that remained at their estate. Bellatrix became her new project, and she was determined to see her daughter follow in her mother’s footsteps. Audrey knew that Bella missed her twin sister greatly, but she just figured if she got Bellatrix’s mind off of Bea, and off of their father, then she would forget about them. Of course Audrey took every opportunity to spread rumors and speak poorly of the two, trying to convince her other children that Michael and Beatrix were the bad ones of the family, and that was why they never associated anymore.
The slippery downhill slope on which Audrey was standing continued to slide further south as developments in the recent years following the divorce made life even worse.
Mikey was a squib. Audrey thought that his abilities were just coming late, but that eventually they would surface. But it never happened. Their only son, Michael’s only way of passing on his family heritage, was magicless. Of course that brought up new arguments between the adults, and accusation that Audrey had been cheating on him before they got married. But that was actually something that wasn’t true. As much as Michael resented his son, Audrey did as well. He was the firstborn, and the whole reason that they two had even gotten married. Now they discovered that he was worthless in the eyes of the wizarding community. He was a shame to the family, and nothing more. Audrey’s interest in her son’s well-being ended at that point, and she never paid him mind, unless it was to order him around about picking up materials for her.
Her relationship with Bellatrix fell apart. It was great for a while, Audrey taking every opportunity to pour her work into her daughter, to show off how beautiful she was becoming. Until Bella snapped one day, in public, of all places. Her mother was horrified that Bella would speak to her in such a manner, and that she would cause such a public disturbance. That event led to a series of fights between mother and daughter, and even an incident where the children had all run off, with the monetary assistance of their father. It had taken her two weeks to find them, and boy did they get a harsh punishment when she finally came across their location. The relationship between Bellatrix and her mother has never been mended.
And then it turned out that Michael really had inherited the bad reputation of his family. He was caught spying against the Ministry, and shipped off to Azkaban. Personally, Audrey couldn’t have been more relieved to hear that he was taken away. Except it caused another problem for her: Beatrix.
Audrey had decidingly disowned her other daughter the day she decided to happily run off with her father after the divorce. And now then the girl was forced to come back and live with the family again. It was definitely not acceptable for Audrey, but she had no say in the matter. At least it kept Bellatrix out of her hair. Personally Audrey didn’t care what her daughters got into at school, she didn’t let it bother her at home. And at home, it wasn’t like Audrey cared for them anyway. Why do that when she could hire someone to do it for her?
With Mikey being useless to her family, and the two older girls evolving into half-crazy versions of their father, Audrey only had one last hope for her legacy, and that was in the form of the youngest, Erin. The same way that Audrey had put her attention into Bellatrix, she now brought her focus on Erin. It wasn’t too difficult to get the girl on her side, since her older sisters basically ignored Erin. So far Erin was reciprocating well to her mother’s attention.
So with the girls off at school, Mikey being cared for by anyone except his mother, and Michael locked away in some god-forsaken cell in Azkaban, things were starting to look good again for Audrey Chancelier-Dark.
If only it would stay that way.
What is your occupation? How do you go about it?
How did you get your current occupation?
How does your past and abilities justify your current skills?:
Audrey is currently a fashion designer, working out of London. Only wizard fashions, of course. She wouldn’t dare be seen trying to create something for muggles. After she ended her modeling career, fashion design was the obvious progression for her life. When the Dark family moved to London, Audrey started working with one of the designers for whom she used to model. Now she owns her own studio and works independently on her designs.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: One word: selfish. Life for Audrey Chancelier-Dark is all about herself; getting what she wants, at any costs. Sure, she’s got the kids and all, but Erin’s the only one that Audrey had any hopes for, or even cares to have hopes for. She likes to be seen, to be known, and to be adored. And Audrey has no problem with stepping over anyone in her way.
