Full Character Name: Dracon Rhys Towler
Character Birthday & Age: March 21, 1991, seventeen
City & Country of Birth: Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom
Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Pureblood – related to the Bombays and Snarks
House & Year: Slytherin, seventh year

Wand: The wood of Dracon’s wand is Alder wood, it’s characterized by having a strong defense and intuition. The core is a phoenix feather, obviously from the Ollivander’s collection, which is great for all spells but especially defensive types. The wand is inflexible and promotes strength at hexes and curses (although defensive spells are still his specialty) and means the wielder is willful and doesn’t back down.

    Physical Description:
The Towlers do not look like the typical pureblood idea. They have no aristocratic features, no chiseled jaws or pouty lips. Towler men come into the world with big ears. They appear to even outsiders to look "very British", and it's something they are proud of. By no means ugly, they'd be easily described as stereotypical Manchester-esque in appearance, built more like football players than the wizarding world elites. A long jaw line makes their faces long and slim, and to some people, appealing to the eye. Their most notable features would be an unseen one, surprisingly.

Towlers have lived and breathed welsh air for three generations, aside from the fourth generation which came from Norway, and it has left them with a pronounced accent that's unlike the infamous English or Celts. Even though in Dracon's own environment, perhaps amidst an argument between family members, or debating the outcome of a quidditch match, it'd be very difficult for a non-welsh to even understand what he was saying. However, being now used to the company of others, he's now fairly easy to understand, even while talking rapidly.

Starting with Dracon's face, it's easy to see why he'd be overlooked as a pureblood.  The first thing you might notice is the slight crook in his nose. An aggressive game of quidditch left him with a broken nose and fractured cheekbone, the latter is unnoticeable however. The skin covering his face, as well as the rest of his exposed parts, is peach colored and tinted light beige with evidence of constant sunlight. Aside from a few small freckles scattered sparingly, there's nothing remarkable about his skin. Dracon's brow is stormy, protruding slightly which casts a light, mysterious shadow over his eyes. This feature gives him a broody appearance, leaving most people to think he's always annoyed.

Dracon's eyes are hazel. A colorful mixture of blues, greens, and grays fill his thin, almond shaped eyes. Above his eyes lies an unruly mass of dark brown hair. Even though it's cut short, the small hairs are wavy and curly as the ocean. He usually wakes up late, or rides his broom, so typically it's "styled" in the most loose form of the word. Bits and pieces, especially the back at the crown, sticks up in crazy, random direction, despite his best efforts of his finger-applied combing he does constantly throughout the day.

He takes pride in how he presents himself, not obsessively like some, so he's sometimes seen in the bathroom in between classes, leaning across the sink staring at the mirror as he tries to mat it down, or slick it with water from the faucet. Dracon's hair is also rather thick and coarse, which is one of the many reasons he keeps it so short. It would drive him insane if he had the first impression of keeping a large, fat, brown rat on the top of his head. It has a dry texture, not at all soft and smooth. Dracon's hair has more in common with sandpaper than human hair.

Perhaps the single thing Dracon takes the most pride in is his physical fitness.  When he was a boy, before Hogwarts, he played a lot of physical sports and was always outside. Aside from popular quiddtich, there was broom racing and,
the childhood favorite, shuntbumps. Shuntbumps was the modern form of medieval jousting, except played from brooms and not horses. It's a children's game played by young witches and wizards. While during the summer, Dracon still does
broom racing on occasion and enjoys attending Sweden every year for the annual international racing festival with his father. As a typical British teenage male, his favorite past time is quidditch. He keeps in good shape, exercising his legs
especially to be able to maintain his balance and weight on a broomstick even under severe distress. His arms are kept fit to be able to chuck a three pound red ball about two to three acres, and Dracon's torso so he can be able to withstand a hell of a beating before giving up his ball. He's not muscular by any means. Dracon is made of lean, healthy muscle. His body is proportional to his height. Dracon is a tall boy, standing a little taller than average for his age, at six foot one. Regardless,
he's agile on his feet, as well as in the air.

    Personality Description:
"Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live."

Dracon is the very image of ambition. Not those other Slytherins who play practical jokes or who attempt to appear evil, but pure, ambition. Since he was able to form sentences, Dracon had noticed other purebloods looked at his family differently.  They weren't ridiculed or bullied, but treated with mere contempt. The Towlers were ultimately ignored. When he was a boy, he didn't understand why they were treated this way. Did they not share they same family, the same blood?

As he grew up, he learned the reality of his status in their world. The Towlers were not fabulously wealthy, not by any means. They had no old money to speak of, no second homes in Sweden or France. Actually, they could barely afford their two bedroom flat in Cardiff, let alone anything more. While they were acceptable wizards and witches, they were not what was considered a proper pureblood. They were seen more like invaders, a new branch to a well established tree. The older families turn their noses up at the sight of them, and others like them. This kind of treatment eventually leads to some strong, emotional reaction, especially in teenage boys. Which it did, creating a deep rooted need to become someone worth respecting. He was furious that they refused to treat him with equal respect as they gave one another. Dracon knew from a young age he simply had to become the best at everything he attempted. He needs to strike awe and respect into others, especially old pureblood families, in order to make his own family's short comings non-existence. Dracon is driven in many things, including his future. He concentrates on school in order to ensure a successful future. He plans to begin his career as a dragon keeper in Wales, his home country, before moving to research the less known Norway species in the mountains. While ambition has these positive elements, it can also make him more focused on what he wants and needs instead of other people.

Saying that Draco is competitive is like saying the Earth is a big blue ball - slight understatement.  Going hand in hand with his ambition, Dracon is always in it to win. He would be the type of boy who would easily get caught up in the heat of the moment during an intense game.  The sweating, cursing, throwing-chairs-when-he's-thrown-out-of-a-game kind of boy. He can become aggressive when his reputation is at stake. Even though Dracon is determined to become the best at whatever he chooses to do, he holds no disillusions about himself. He knows his faults, and while he strives to improve those, understands he is not perfect. Dracon is confident in his abilities, but never outright arrogant.

Dracon and Hogwarts go nicely together. School comes easy to him and can do well in most classes without much effort.  He's well-spoken and charismatic, making essays and public speaking presentations simple. Dracon's fierce drive makes spell-casting and practice a non-stressful experience. The sense of pride and accomplishment that comes with mastery of a spell, or anything for that matter, is worth all the hard work. That is something that Dracon believes completely in that most other Slytherins and pureblood do not - the value of hard work. Dracon is intelligent, not just in school but personal matters. He's good at smooth talking his way into and out of just about anything - or maybe that's just the accent.

Everyone loves a good party. Between all his activities, Dracon doesn't have much of a rampant social life that someone would except of him. He always finds time for a quidditch after party and every once in a while, a private event, but his time is stretched thin as it is. Because of his success proving himself to be likeable and moderately talented, most people enjoy his company. He mainly stays with his own kind, purebloods and Slytherins, but there have been seldom relationships with others. While never a muggleborn, halfbloods are acceptable enough to socialize with. Any self-respecting pureblood who cares about his reputation was raised to simply ignore the muggleborn's existence, and that's the mildest treatment.

    History:
Beginning a brief introduction into the Towler family, before muggle historical records, the family had it's birth in Norway. The recent generations have all lived in Wales, as far back as anyone can remember, but the earliest line began elsewhere. The Towlers are related more recently to the Bombays, and more previously to the Snarks.  The Snarks were the first introduction into British society and it marked the arrival of the Towlers into Wales. Originally a wealthy family, over the years of greed and malice, the Towlers eventually become a shell of what they were. Instead of the noble pureblood family they had been in Norway, a couple of years in Britain had destroyed what the family had collected long ago.

Augustus Towler had always loved broomsticks. When he was young, his family had never been able to afford one. He had lived his life staring into shop windows, watching quidditch matches, and saving up for a hand-me-down, Cleansweep Four that he bought from a friend. After he met his future wife, Miriam Astorio (sister to Amelia Astorio), their first date had been a ride on that old Cleansweep. Needless to say, brooms had a special heart in Augustus Towler's heart. After they married, with Miriam's finances and Augustus’s passion and sweat, they opened a small broom shop in Cardiff, Wales, where Augustus had grown up.  They lived a decent life and their shop consumed all of their time. They were surprised to learn that Miriam was pregnant, and even though money was tight, they counted their blessings. Business was slow but steady, the majority of customers were faithful and the Towlers always managed to make a meager profit. They did what they loved, that was what mattered to them. How other old families looked at them, how they were ashamed of their
lifestyle, or how they never made too much money really didn’t bothered them. It was during the annual broom race in Sweden that Dracon was born. He was premature and very small, but he was loved entirely with both parents' beings.

Dracon grew up to be a small boy, with long, scrawny arms and thin legs. He was always the shortest in a group of boys and because of this, he was often the one who was always in fights. It only took him a few beatings before he started exercising, desperate to be able to stand against the bigger boys. Even though the Towlers were ignored by the majority of purebloods, there were a few who delighted in creating humiliating situations. While adults may have done it subtly, young boys were not as gentle. They would call him names and when he was alone, gang up on him. These seldom events created a monster inside of Dracon. He was determined to dominate these types of people, to stop at nothing to be the best. His parents noticed a change in their son late into his TRANSFORMATION; they were always busy at the shop. He had become
bigger, heavier, and more disciplined. Dracon was strict on himself, never believing that mediocre was good enough. Dracon wasn't the goofy, easy-going boy they had raised, but had mutated into a normal, pureblood male with a chip on his shoulder. This did have its benefits. Dracon always knew what he wanted and did everything to get it. He worked hard for everything he had and had earned every accomplishment. The boy had turned into a machine overnight.

Dracon attended Hogwarts, as expected. He loved the challenges the school gave him. He worked the best under pressure and the fact that professors actually expected him, as a student, to be the best he could possibly be, gave him a lot of pride and happiness. He no longer felt like an outcast. During his third year, he received his brown barn owl, Chester, as a birthday present. When he was thirteen and the other students were rushing to try out for quidditch with their brand new brooms, Dracon had been in a sour mood for months until he received Chester. He didn't received his first broom until his fifth year, the only broom he had ever had that wasn't pre-owned, Dracon remembers the day fondly.

He remembers the color of the Christmas wrapping paper (red, with white stripes and a big green bow) and the scent of freshly polished oak. He had opened it in his dormitory with his friends and basked in their admiration as he pulled it out of the wrapping. For the first time, he had owned something everyone else wanted. During his sixth year, there was finally a spot open on the quidditch team for chaser. Currently, Dracon is battling the onslaught of school work and quidditch, and attempting to maintain some level of social interaction with other students.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
The very trait the the Slytherin house was founded on was ambition. Not evil or hate, but the desire for personal achievement. Dracon has deeply rooted reasons to be ambitious because of his history. He knows being pureblood doesn't make him anymore of a Slytherin than being wealthy. Dracon believes that being a Slytherin is as simple as knowing what you want, and taking it. He wears his emerald and silver with pride and true understanding of what those colors represent.

    Writing Sample:
Dracon had been dodging customers that were spilling out of The Three Broomsticks for the last ten minutes. There had been a sudden rush of patrons exiting the family-friendly pub just as he crossed into the path of the doorway. His neck constantly was craning around couples with two heads, one large man with a tiny head, and a petite, old woman who had a rather stunning large head. Of course, her long wrinkles that formed small jowls and the large tuff of white, curly hair with gigantic feathers sprouting from the hat on her head, that Dracon could only assumed came from the biggest bird on the planet, could have just created the illusion of largeness. Dracon placed a hand on several shoulders, with several more excuses and pardons to each person, and quickly worked his way through the crowd. He weaved up the rungs of witches and wizards, bumping into at least two rather violently, and was swore at least once. Finally, he spied the end of the herd of people and the clear cobblestone street that led to his destination. Suddenly, he was cut off by a slow moving man who Dracon outweighed no more than a hundred pounds. Instead of waiting politely and risking the chance of being swept back into the crowd, Dracon made the choice to push on through.

"Oi, watch where you’re going!," the man spat as their shoulders connected and Dracon moved past him. The boy didn't even bother to grace him with a reply, or apology - he was already way too late. Dracon breathed in the sweet taste of fresh air and hurried along the path. He still wore his Slytherin uniform he had had on during his study session in the library. Dracon looked slightly out of place as he walked (quickly mind you) ALONG beside a group of Hufflepuffs dressed in their casual wear. A few strange looks were thrown his way before he passed by them and turned sharply at the entrance to Honeydukes.

    He was so damn late.

Dracon had missed his date with Olivia Montmency twice already. The first time had been an easy fix, he simply told her that he was detained by the Potions master and, grudgingly, she had relented her fury. The second time, she nearly slapped him. Olivia was a brilliant looking chit, absolutely stunning, and was not used to someone standing her up. He took her hand and promised, swore on his family crest, never to do it again. She relented, and now here he was, late and on a positive note, at least in the village this time. In truth, he always just forgot about her. He wasn't planning to tell her that, of course, but the last week had been an exceptionally busy time for him and she was just the victim of a bad situation. He had been in the library all evening studying for his Herbology test that covered almost six chapters of material. Olivia Montmency had been the last of his concerns at the time, and funnily enough, now she was all he could think about. Dracon remembered when he walked another girl in Olivia's house, Ravenclaw, walked past his table and smile at him. In a flash, he was gathering his books and notes and almost running out of the door.

He was so, so damn late.

Honeydukes was worse than The Three Broomsticks. Dracon peered over the heads of fellow students, asking another girl he recognized if she had seen Olivia. The girl, whose name he couldn't remember, pointed vaguely at the back of the store before turning back to her friends. Just as Dracon past the display of marshmallow mice, he heard something that stopped him dead in his search.

    "Dracon Rhys Towler!"

    Yeah, he was pretty late.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Dracon has a hidden inferiority complex stemming from childhood. It's made him want to prove his worth to all the rich pureblood that have always looked down their noses at him and his parents. He's made of ambition, intelligence, and athletic prowess. Overall though, he's generally a friendly seventeen year old boy, surprisingly.

    [Character Name:] Dracon Towler
[Title Applying For:] Dueling Society President

[How Has Your Past Prepared You For This Honor?:]
Dracon has always felt he needs to prove himself to those around him so he concentrates hard on everything he does. He practices spells and other course work constantly (while not playing quidditch) and always puts his school work before his social life. If he doesn't absolutely know a spell one hundred percent, he'll practice it until he gets it perfect. He isn't the type of bloke who accepts mediocre performance.
[What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:?
Aside from safety, it would be the chance to actually practice the spells they've learned for years but never been able to use outside of a classroom setting. It would give the chance to learn how not only to deliver an attack, but provide a good defense or learn how to take a blast from someone's wand. The next important thing would probably being able to learn spells that the professors (who are overloaded with having to get students ready for exams) may overlook, or allow students to try out a spell they've read about (only after Dracon making sure it's not going to kill someone or backfire). But obviously, he'd tell the professors the main concern is the safety of students.
[Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle:]
Dracon had been tutoring a second year for almost a month before he really understand how little she knew
about actually spell casting. While she was a good student in charms and did all her homework, Tracy had been
completely lost when he asked her the proper hand position when casting a disarming spell. When she simply
pointed her wand at him with a lost expression, her cheeks inflamed, Dracon was stunned but not by her spell.
"No, no - hold yur wand like this," he placed a hand on her wrist and forced it to flick hard and to the left. "Flick it like
yur throwin' their wand from the opponent," he instructed. Tracy had been a good student and it was only another
month before she was able to best him in a duel (after receiving prior permission from her head of house) and she
told him how grateful she had been and how much fun she had. It had been Tracy who had given Dracon the idea to
lead the Dueling Society and promote more wand-awareness.

(I have no idea if this is what you meant or not, but if it isn't just let me know.)

    Birth order: Only child
Grandparents (describe relationship): His paternal grandparents are Mathias and Celeste Towler, they live in the country in Wales. They live in a small cottage in a wizarding village called Angleshire. Dracon stayed here when he was younger over a few week periods when his parents were busy with the shop during the busy season. Both of his grandparents were welcoming and lived a similar lifestyle as their son, but had long since retired. His grandfather had been a wand wood crafter. Basically, the job had involved him plotting out places inside of magical areas where the wood of trees has soaked up the magic. He then has to take off one of the thick branches and whittle and carve it done. This type of work is considered an art form – like a medieval blacksmith. He was a master of knowing which wood worked best and understood the complex workings. Wand wood crafters work for people like Ollivander’s, while Ollivander made his own wands, smaller and less skilled places often buy outside. It paid well, but work was limited. His grandmother stayed at home, she was very much a lady who preferred to hold tea in the garden to working for a living. His maternal grandparents are part of the Bombays.

Shape of Face: Long jaw line
Distinguishing features: Nothing really stands out
How does he/she dress? He always tries to look respectable.
Mannerisms: He exerts an aura of confidence and superiority.
Habits: I’ve really thought hard about this. He drinks on occasion when he is living his shell of a social life in between school and other his other activities, and even though he knows it’s bad for him and exercises and believes in physical fitness, does smoke on occasion. I think it’s just a teenage thing, he probably only does it around his friends and once he’s out of school and not around it, won’t touch another one.
Health: Good health, exercises regularly. He does have allergies to shellfish which he thinks is unfortunate.
Hobbies: Quidditch, broom racing, collecting vintage brooms (from his dad’s shop) and fixes them and tinkers, dueling, wizard’s chess, and he still has his old collection of exploding snap cards
    Favorite Sayings: Various swear words
Speech patterns: Always smooth and sure of his words, has a moderate to thick Welsh accent
    Disabilities: Nothing physical
Style (Elegant, shabby etc.): He tries to look nice, it makes him look more respectable.
Greatest flaw: His ambitions come before the needs and wants of others, he often forgets things he promises, he has a vicious temper when he feels threatened.
Best quality: He’s charming, intelligence, very hard working, knows what he wants and how to get it, and overall pretty likable.

    Intellectual/Mental/Personality Attributes and Attitudes[/u]
Educational Background: Unlike many other purebloods, Dracon couldn’t be homeschooled because of his parents’ working. His parents put him in a regular muggle elementary school, but numerous fights and the flat out refusal to go because of the humiliation he received from other wizarding children, they eventually had him tutored until he was of age. Dracon was either found at his parents’ shop or at his tutor’s, Miss Ridgewood, home.
Intelligence Level:[/b] Dracon is very bright but his greatest success is only achieved because he applies himself.
Any Mental Illnesses? Inferiority complex around other purebloods
Learning Experiences: From the abuse from other pureblood children, he learned that he wasn’t a part of their world anymore than he was a part of the muggle world. He also learned that if he wanted respect and wanted equality, he’d have to earn it.
Character's short-term goals in life: Finish school and start his study in the Welsh mountains at the dragon research facility
Character's long-term goals in life: Complete his journeyman’s study and move to Norway and study the lesser known and much more dangerous species
How does Character see himself/herself? A successful young man, but there’s always the nagging and constant voice that tells him to do better and work harder.
How does Character believe he/she is perceived by others? Depends on who you mean – rich pureblood, especially the Welsh elite, as a big nothing and something to be ashamed of. He knows at school, because he’s worked hard to prove his worth, others like him. Adult purebloods are harder to convince.
How self-confident is the character? Extremely, but not overly confident – he knows his limits and honestly, I think that as an adult, that’s going to be the only thing that keeps his ambition in check. God forbid we pull a Tom Riddle.
Does the character seem ruled by emotion or logic or some combination thereof? Both, he’s all about plans and strategy and likes to believe he’s put himself in control of his emotions but in reality, he can become extremely angry without meaning to or sometimes without much cause.
What would most embarrass this character? To be publically humiliated and called out for being just a poor, meaningless branch on his family tree.

    Emotional Characteristics[/u]
    Strengths/Weaknesses: Charm, anger,
    Introvert or Extrovert? Introvert
How does the character deal with anger? Not well, at all.
With sadness? Closes down and gets angry with himself.
With conflict? Depends, either anger, or works hard to correct problem
With change? Depends on the change
    With loss? Anger
What does the character want out of life? To become a pureblood wizard worthy of being called great. He wants his name on the tip of everyone’s tongue and be admired and respected for his greatness and success. Just that, nothing major.
What would the character like to change in his/her life? His socioeconomic status.
What motivates this character? His past
What frightens this character? Failure, more sustainable fears would be his allergy, amputation
What makes this character happy? Success, being admired, respect, people thinking he’s good looking, playing quidditch, dueling, getting a good mark in his classes
Is the character judgmental of others? Kind of funny actually because when meeting a new pureblood, his first thought is hate and basically puff out his chest and show his dominance, and he doesn’t like muggleborns – no reason really, just how he was raised.
Is the character generous or stingy? He’s pretty stingy. He doesn’t have a lot of money so he’s really protective of his little riches. As far as emotionally, he’s pretty reserved but can wear a generous mask.
Is the character generally polite or rude? Polite, since he wants to be admired by others and he wants to be the ideal pureblood male so he can’t afford to be a prick like the others.

    Spiritual Characteristics[/u]
Does the character believe in God? Been thinking about this too. I don’t think those kind of things were really discussed in his house.
What are the character's spiritual beliefs? As far as the afterlife, I think he hopes for some reincarnation of some kind, but other than that, the logical side of him points to being dead in the ground.
Is religion or spirituality a part of this character's life? Not really.
If so, what role does it play? N/A

How other old families looked at them, how they were ashamed of their lifestyle, or how they never made too much money really didn’t bothered them.

Currently, Dracon is battling the onslaught of school work, and attempting to maintain some level of social interaction with other students.
Requested Changes: Just his age and removing of a couple of sentences about his seventh year.

Why do you wish to change these area(s): To bump him down one year so I'll be able to play him in school.
Other RPed Characters this may affect: Perhaps Graham, but Pam is already aware of the changes. I also told Alisha.
