Personality Description:
Kevin is a charmer. He likes to be open and have fun, but he isn't loud and doesn't like to be the center of attention. He is an adventuresome fellow and enjoys trying things new; he will try almost anything for a laugh. He loves his family and is extremely protective over his son and his siblings (particularly his little sister, Allie.) When he’s upset or angry, however, he prefers to hide his emotions and it's up to the curious to find out how he's feeling. Often that gets him into trouble with his relationships because he keeps those kind of things away from those who care about him, thus why he has never been too good at keeping a relationship. When he is unsure of himself, he can be soft-spoken and a bit mysterious but once someone is able to break open that outer shell, he's much more talkative. However, he generally gives off a very confident vibe (which has greatly helped him advance his career fighting crime.)
On the rare occasion he feels nervous or feels like he's been backed into a corner he will rub his hand through his hair look away. When he feels like his family or friends are being threatened, his entire personality changes and is eyes catch fire as his demeanor twists into something new. His anger can get the best of him and his normally calm, low voice will take a strong, threatening tone to make sure it's known that he is ready to defend his family, friends, and himself.
History:
Kevin was born as the eldest child to Sage Hargrove and Sophia Victoire—he was an accident, to say the least. Though he was born in England, he grew up in Quiberon, France as an only child; his mother and father had only been out of school for five months when he was born, and they were wed shortly after his birth. They raised him in a small house that was built on the edge of Sophia’s parents’ property. They chose to live there in order to have Sophia’s mother and father to help out with tedious matters of child-rearing.
Living in France, Kevin naturally attended Beauxbatons. He wasn’t much of a student, but he scraped by. His parents had raised him with few rules and he barely managed to adjust to the idea of his professors giving him rules. Nevertheless, he did enough to get by. When he was 14 years old, his parents decided they did not wish to continue living in the small house on the hill. His father had been a professional quidditch player, but what he truly desired was to have a big family. He abruptly retired while Kevin was in school and they moved back to London, where Sage’s parents also lived. They built a house outside of the city and over the following six years they had three more children, Kieran, Craig, and Allie.
Kevin continued his schooling at Beauxbatons and passed his exams. Though, he remained somewhat bitter about his parent’s abrupt decision to move and start a family; he hardly felt included in this new life they had created. After school, he decided to travel the world. After four years of travelling, he received a letter from his mother about the birth of his youngest sibling, a girl named Allie. Something about the idea of having a little sister motivated him to return to London and begin to build a relationship with the young brothers he hardly knew and the parents he hardly wrote to.
For the following few years, Kevin lived in a flat in London. He never settled into any career and instead did small, part-time jobs when it was necessary to pay for bills. He lived the life many bachelors dreamed of; he slept all morning, spent his afternoons however he wished, spent his evenings with various women and spent his nights…alone; he loved his life. Only one woman managed to worm her way into his heart, but even that did not last more than a year; it abruptly ended shortly before Kevin’s 27th birthday.
Kevin resumed his bachelorhood, but instead of sleeping all morning, he decided to finally use his schooling for what it was worth. He went through training at the Ministry of Magic and became a hitwizard. He didn’t think it would be so, but Kevin loved his job. Though, for the first few years he was only given petty cases, he enjoyed the challenge. He was only tempted once to quit, when his grandfather Victoire passed away, and Kevin received a large inheritance, but his temptation was removed within the week; he also found out that his one and only girlfriend of the previous decade had had his children, a set of twins, Christopher Kevin and Anabelle Sadie Chassereau.
Kevin got to know his children, but it was never meant to be with their mother, Sarah. After a terrible incident that left Anabelle dead, Kevin abruptly left the Ministry and moved to France.** Almost immediately, Kevin managed to secure a job as a hitwizard in the French ministry and has worked there for the previous 6 years.
((He is now hoping to transfer back to the Ministry of Magic in London.))
What is your job description? How do you go about your job?
How did you get your current job? How does your past and abilities justify your current position?:
The main duties of a member of the magical law enforcement squad is to deal with petty law-breakers in the magical community. Kevin mainly deals with theft, breaking and entering, assaults and other minor broken laws; occasionally, Kevin has been able to corroborate on cases with aurors.
Kevin started off as a hitwizard in London. Instantly, he was hooked to the job. Kevin’s a hard-worker and determined to perform his job well. After a few years in London, he moved to France where he continued working for the Magical Law Enforcement Division in the French Ministry. Having a few years under his belt, he became one of the best and began receiving more involving cases. His Department Head encouraged him to train and become an auror, but Kevin held a certain attachment to being a hitwizard; he turned the opportunity down.
Kevin began a decent duelist and a good occlumens and legilimens; years on the force have honed these traits as well as added a few more such as stealth and tact (something he sorely lacked in the beginning). He has a more than fine work-ethic and is happy working through the night if it gives him the satisfaction of victory.
Now, he is transferring back to London in order to be closer to his family and his son.
Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Kevin is a determined character; he is determined to do his job with success, he is determined to woo whomever he chooses, and he is determined to protect the Hargrove name. Where his charm and wit prove useless, his skilled wand-work and quick thinking take over, and if that ever fails, he’s a fast runner.
**No one but his family knows the full details of the incident. Members of the ministry who responded to the break-in knew of the incident, but they remained unaware that the child that was left dead was indeed Kevin's daughter.
