Physical Description: Kitty is rather tall and slender for a girl of oriental origin, standing at a modest 5'6. Her features are immediately contrary to her character; her dark brown eyes are wide-set, large and innocent, with a small round nose and mouth. Little Miss Li is pretty, but one would not describe her as beautiful; she seems far too delicate and lacks that distinct sort of mature attractiveness. In an attempt to harshen her look, Kitty wears heavy black eye makeup and often paints her lips a bright scarlet; her plight somewhat works however, and there is an undertone of menace to her appearance.

Kitty's jet black hair is just past her shoulders with a sweeping side fringe and is unnervingly straight, every single hair in place. It's either loosely pinned up and scraped back, or let down with an oversized bow or headband for stylish decoration.

Whilst on the topic of Kitty’s fashion, she’s very wardrobe conscious. Her usual attire consists of exaggerated aristocratic dresses, big sleeves, sheer tights, ridiculously high heels, pearl necklaces, pencil skirts and frilled blouses. In short, Kitty loves the ‘prep school’ look, and to her, fashion means everything.

Personality Description: Kitty Li is the apple of her parents eye, and as such, their affluence and attention have created something of a monster. To most people, she’s arrogant, haughty, selfish and prides herself on her ruthless brutality. Only a very select few are held in high regard by Kitty, and she’s known as something of a bully and a menace within Hogwarts. Some say that even staff members are terrified of her.

The girl thrives on gossip, and has no qualms about using lies and rumours to destroy or dethrone a social enemy. Kitty is obsessed with self-preservation and will go to any lengths to maintain her place at the pinnacle of the Hogwarts hierarchy, even if it means cheating the system. Underneath this cruel façade however, Kitty does possess a different side; fiercly loyal to her comrades, she usually plays the role of ‘witty and amusing’ accomplice, creating humour out of other’s misfortune.

Her reputation constantly precedes her, yet through her negative aspects, she is an eloquent, intelligent and articulate young lady who constantly impresses friends and family members with a false charm that only she can muster. This somewhat bitchy front hides a more insecure aspect of Kitty. Terrified that she won’t live up to the expectations of her family, Kitty uses ornate fashions and a waspish disposition to assert some form of dominance.

History: Kitty was born on a cold and clear Bonfire Night in West London to Chan Wook Li and his wife Yue Ying, a newly-wedded couple that belonged to one of the most powerful and respected pureblood families of South Korea. Chan was a well-meaning yet naïve young fellow, who lacked the strength and pride his forefathers demanded; over the years however, he managed to maintain a more masculine presence within the family. People however, always remembered him as the nervous, bookish Li son. Yue, the middle child of a small pureblood family in the Korean countryside, met Chan during a routine inter-family dinner, and the two hit it off immediately. Delicate, reserved and feminine, she was attracted to Chan’s naivety and youth, whilst he adored her friendliness and fragility. The newlyweds relocated to London for work prospects, Chan getting a well-paid in potion and remedy design and production, with Yue taking a backseat as a housewife. Violet Li, Kitty’s elder sister, was born first and three years later, Kitty was born.

As a child, Kitty was annoyingly curious, constantly questioning the actions of her parents and other adults around her; this however, was soon conditioned out of her with the annual trip to the Li clan’s manor in Korea. It was seen as a bad quality, and Kitty soon realised at a young age how judgemental and assertive her immediate family could be. To them, the Li family name meant everything, and Kitty understood how maintaining familial honour would keep her in the favour of the elders of the clan. Growing up, Kitty felt overshadowed by her more charismatic and popular big sister, hearing about her academic and sporting success in Hufflepuff, and Kitty felt the need to stand-out. Upon being invited to attend Hogwarts, she soon cultivated her arrogant and harsh personality; to her, Slytherin was a survival of the fittest, and she wanted to be on top. Violet, the friendly, optimistic and open-minded sister was a huge contrast to Kitty, and as such, a divide began to formulate.

Soon garnering a name for herself as one of the ice queens of Slytherin, Kitty wants to leave her mark upon Hogwarts much like her sister did, but in a different way - as a key player within the Hogwarts social scene, Kitty would rather be feared and respected rather than adored and loved. If there is something Kitty wants, she’ll stop at nothing to get it.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Kitty is the generic insecure teenager, and as such, uses a brutal front to counter this. Her ambition, her cunning and her sheer arrogance makes her the perfect candidate for Slytherin.

    Writing Sample:
Kitty’s cousin, Tabitha, had always been a golden child. She was beautiful, polite, fragile and delicate, and an academic hotshot at Beauxbatons. And Kitty hated her. So, imagine her delight when they were both sat in Kitty’s room, Tabitha sobbing upon her cousin’s shoulder. Acting like the caring relative, she gently patted Tabitha’s hair, one arm cuddling her narrow shoulders.
“Now now, Tabitha, don’t get upset about it, these things happen,” she quietly reassured her cousin, the soothing tone within her voice completely false. Kitty had always been good at pretending to be something she wasn’t.
“It’s just,” Tabitha cried, her throat choked with tears and grief. “We managed to get the alcohol, and we drank all of it, and hung around with the boys from the village, and things just got way out of hand!” Kitty’s cousin let out another weeping howl, resting her head on Kitty’s thigh. She stroked Tabitha’s hair in return, a smirk appearing on her face out of her cousin’s sight: oh how the mighty could fall from grace.

“I wouldn’t worry too much, Tab,” Kitty falsely remarked, quite pleased that she had surpassed Tabitha in both schooling discipline and morals. “I won’t tell anyone, I wouldn’t want to compromise your place at Beauxbatons since you’re doing so well there.”
“Oh Kitty! Please, keep it to yourself, if the teachers found out about this, they’d tell my parents and you know what they’re like. Grandfather would go spare, he’d be horrified!”
“All you did was kiss a boy Tab, it’s no big deal,” Kitty muttered, her true personality rearing it’s ugly head for a second. Rolling her eyes, she couldn’t believe how tragic Tabitha actually was.
“But it is a big deal, Kitty! It’s completely against school policy, and it was just so out of character for me!”
Kitty sighed, tapping her cousin’s shoulder, signalling her to sit up straight. Both of them sat cross legged on the bed facing each other, Kitty maternally dabbing Tabitha’s tears with a handkerchief.
“If it’s that important to you, then consider me your confidante,” Kitty said, a wickedly innocent smile appearing on her pretty little face.
“Thanks, Kitty, I owe you one,” Tabitha replied, returning the smile and giving her cousin a warm tight hug. Kitty grimaced as she felt Tabitha’s arms wrap around her; she’d always found the girl sickeningly sweet and couldn’t help but be jealous of her status as the Li family angel. She was on par with Violet, and that was always bad news.
    “Don’t mention it, Tab.”

Leaving Tabitha with a lasting smile, she walked her cousin to the door of her bedroom, giving her a pat on the shoulder of fake camaraderie and comfort before they parted ways. Lightly closing the door, Kitty took a seat at her writing desk, taking a magenta quill from an assortment in an old perfume bottle. Dipping it a blood red ink, she bit her bottom lip with anticipation, fluttering her eyelashes, impressed at her ruthlessness. As quill met parchment, the letters of destruction began to take shape.

    Dear Grandfather,

I’m very worried about Tabitha, she’s been doing some incredibly out-of-character things…

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Heartless, brutal, harsh, competitive, sly and ambitious, Kitty is a force to be reckoned with, and she’s proud of her place as a bitch of Hogwarts. Loyal and amusing to very close friends, she could strike fear into even the bravest of people, and will stop at nothing to get her own way. Underneath this however, Kitty is desperate to leave an impact upon the people she meets, and is endlessly insecure about her worth to her family. She believes that there are far greater evils than being talked about, and that is to not be talked about at all.
