    on June 11, 2010, 02:32:11 PM

Full Character Name: Ackerly Evan Fox
    Birthday & Age: February 14; 37
City & Country of Birth: Southampton, England
    Blood Purity?: Halfblood
    Alma Mater: Ravenclaw
    Job: Senior Auror

Wand: Ackerly's wand is 13 2/3 inches long, and made of ivy wood with a pheonix feather core. It is rigid and has a knobby handle.

    Physical Description:
    Build/Body type:  Muscular
    Estimated Height/Weight:  6'1" // 200lbs
    Hair color: Black
    Eye color: Brown
    Skin color: Brown
First Impression: Ackerly gives off the impression of being a confident, no-nonsense sort of guy- and it's very accurate. He dresses well, and is a very professional sort of person.
Any odd/outstanding features?:  He's very tall and very built, and as such tends to stand out in a crowd. He has a few tattoos, but they are on his arms and he tends to wear sleeves to cover them.

Personality Description: Ackerly is a very disciplined person. He believes that there is a time and place for everything. He watches his diet, and exercises regularly. Ackerly works out and does drills and practice for work. He always arrives on time, if not early, and is always working late. He takes his job seriously, and tends to get short tempered when others don't show the same respect and decorum that he does while on the clock. Temptation is not a word in Ackerly's vocabulary. He believes will power can conquer everything, and he says he has more than enough will power for the entire auror department.

Although he as a very strong sense of what is right and wrong, Ackerly is a failure as far as being a father and husband is concerned. Even though he loves his kids, he doesn't know how to be a good father, because he is incapable of putting them first. He tries with his son, Baxter, but bonding with his daughter is totally lost on him. He genuinely believes that letting his wife's new fiance raise his children is best for them, because the man is such a good father to him and is always around. Ackerly is well aware that this is a short coming of his, and that many disagree with his decision- but he sticks by his guns.

To Ackerly, the job is everything. He comes in early, he goes home late. He's always the first one to put in for over time, and will take whatever job is assigned to him- even if others might find it to be unimportant. In his opinion, no crime is too small to ignore. He relentlessly pursues those he's set to bring in, and is really good at his job. Even though he had a lapse in service (when the ministry was corrupted), Ackerly has always been 100% dedicated to the auror corp, and takes great pride and joy in protecting the wizarding citizens.

Now that he is single again, Ackerly spends all of his free time working out. He rarely goes out for drinks (he doesn't drink often, he doesn't like what alcohol does to his reflexes) and if he does go out with his friends, it's usually for dinner. Ackerly doesn't date- he doesn't want to put another woman through what he did to Isabel. (And he is still in love with his wife, regardless of what he might say.) Even so, every man has needs, and now and again he'll take a girl home- but it's usually just for one night. Many people think that he is a stick in the mud and not able to have any fun... Those people would be right most of the time.

History: Ackerly Fox was born in 1972. His father worked in magical law enforcement, and his mother was a mediwitch. Growing up, his mother was his best friend, and his father was an intermittent disciplinary figure. Even though his dad wasn't around much, Ackerly idolized him for all the good things he was going. He loved his dad, and he couldn't wait to grow up and be just like him!

When Ackerly was ten, his mother had another child- another little boy named Huxley. Ackerly did not like the baby- it cried, he couldn't play with it, and it took all of his attention away. Luckily for Ackerly, he would be leaving for Hogwarts soon.

Ackerly would be sorted into Ravenclaw, where he fit in rather well. He threw himself head first into his studies, trying as hard as he could to make impeccable grades. Ackerly knew that if he wanted to be in law enforcement, just like his dad, that he would need to make close to perfect grades. He excelled greatly in his wandwork, and although he struggled with herbology and potions, his constant studying paid off.

When Ackerly graduated Hogwarts in 1990, he achieved O's on all of the NEWTs that he attempted, including: Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Care of Magical Creatures. It was a spectacular showing, and as soon as he graduated he went into Auror training.

It was during his auror training that Ackerly met Isabel. She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, and like he did with everything else, he decided he wanted her and that she would be his. He started dating her a few months after he began training to become an auror, and she was his wife within a year. Ackerly had never been more in love. While he was still in training, things between the two of them were perfect. He had time to spend with her, and they were never more in love.

But the honeymoon phase definitely didn't last. As soon as he was a full auror, his work became more important to him than his wife and his marriage. His wife worked hard to make things between them work out, but after a few years she grew tired of it. Their marriage was rocky at best, and was falling apart at the seams. The sad thing was that Ackerly didn't notice. He thought that things would be okay, and ignored all the problems that he was having at home. Everything, except for things that were work related, escaped his notice.

When he was twenty-three, Isabel gave birth to their son. They named him Baxter, and Ackerly was a terrible father while he was still a baby. He didn't know how, and didn't want to learn how. He thought a woman was supposed to be maternal. Besides, he spent so much time on the job he rarely had time for himself and Isabel, let alone an entire family. Ackerly put forth effort occasionally, though. But mostly only when Isabel seemed like she was about leave. He loved her dearly, even if he didn't show it, and losing her would kill him.

In 1998 when the ministry fell, like many other aurors, Ackerly made the difficult decision to resign from his position and return home to his wife. Their marriage, which was rocky before, seemed to pull itself back together now that he was home and able to pay Isabel the attention that she desired. It also meant that he could have time to bond with his son.

When he returned home, Baxter was a toddler. Ackerly had a very hard time falling into the role of being a father. He was course, and rough around the edges from working in the Auror Corp for the last five years, and all he wanted to do was return back to work. His wife had a job, which left him as a stay at home dad- a role that he loathed. In his mind, it was a woman's place to stay home while he worked. He never told Isabel this, but did his best to step up to the plate and take care of his son.

Eventually Shacklebolt was put in charge, and it seemed that the good guys were in charge of the ministry again. Immediately Ackerly put in for rehire and returned to the job. His wife was disappointed, hoping that Ackerly would choose a different way of life. She left her job and returned home to take care of their son. As soon as he was back on the force, he began putting in long hours and over extending himself to help. His marriage began to feel strained again, as his wife was nagging him to take time off for her and for their family. Ackerly promised that he would, as soon as the world was put back to together.

That never seemed to happen. It was always one excuse right after the other. And, when Baxter was nine, his wife was pregnant again. Ackerly was livid to find out. He had been taking contraceptive potions, but somehow, that didn't seem to be working. The last thing he wanted was another kid- he didn't even have time for the first one! Which was a detail that did not escape Isabel. After their second child was born in 2006, she left her husband. Isabel, Baxter, and little baby Lucinda moved in with her parents in the countryside.

It was surprising to everyone- including Ackerly- how much it bothered him. He knew that his job had always been first in his life, but Isabel had always seemed to be so... okay with that. And now she had taken his son, his daughter, and his life away from him. Instead of taking the proper time to grieve, he just threw himself even deeper into his work. Constantly chasing down leads and cases and bad guys. There was a never ending stream of dark wizards and witches, and it was rather convenient for him.

After his wife left, Ackerly showed no interest in dating. But, like every other man, he had needs- so once in a while he would take a girl home, but she never stuck around. (And he wasn't against taking other ministry workers home, either, which put him in some sticky situations.) His son is now nine years old, and his daughter is two. Ackerly tries, when he has time off, to spend time with Baxter. He's not a good father, and he knows he isn't, but he tries to make up for it with presents and fun outings. His daughter, however, is lost on him. What could he do with a two year old girl?

Besides, Isabel had a serious boyfriend. So serious they were engaged. And the man seemed to be a much better father than he was. Ackerly didn't like the idea, he still cared about Isabel, but he also knew that she had to have the ability to move on. He wasn't any good for her. And nothing was going to change the fact that the job was always going to be more important than her and more important than his family. Bitterly, he has accepted the fact that his ex-wife is going to marry some weak business man that is probably going to be the one raising his offspring.

About the Job: Ackerly is currently a senior auror at the Ministry of Magic. He's been on the force since he graduated Hogwarts. including his short time away from the ministry during its corruption, he's been an auror for 15 years. He's been at the ministry for 18 including his training.  Ackerly's job is to track down and capture dark witches and wizards.

Ackerly went through auror training shortly after leaving Hogwarts. In school, he got O's on all of his NEWTs to prepare him. Since he has been on the force for so long, and puts so many hours into the job and has been so successful he has recently been given the title of senior auror. He is very skilled with magic and is very good at his job.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Ackerly is a head strong man, whose entire life is dedicated to law enforcement. The job always has, and always will come first in his life. He is disciplined, intelligent, and courageous. He definitely believes that right and wrong are very clear cut, and adheres to a strict moral code. (Even though parts of it are a little out of place, especially considering his children and ex-wife.) Ackerly is, all in all, a good man and a damn good auror.
