OUTFIT | FLOWERS – violets and carnations specifically

It didn’t make sense why the devil she had decided to head up and visit Professor Woolfolk up until a few days ago sitting in the Hufflepuff Common Room. After all the insanity of the Halloween Ball and all the inquiries made (both good and bad), she had felt sympathy for him. It was hardly fair that anyone would have to endure a transformation, but a faux one that even was still scarring her slightly inside was just as bad. She had written to her father, telling him everything that had occurred and suggested would it be awkward to give a professor a bouquet for flowers? Malcolm’s response showed he had probably chuckled humorously about the idea, but said that it would be more than fine, but to be cautious in what decisions she wanted to do. So, the flowers were ordered. Violets, the blossoming stalk of beauty that just happened to be one that belonged to those under the Taurus sign. She found it amusing that she chose them, but also knew that he would likely appreciate the sentiment. Hopefully.

So, here she was – standing at the doorstop of the classroom, more nervous than what she had anticipated in coming up here. “You can do this, Adelia. Just knock and the worst thing that can happen is no answer or a slammed door after he sees you wearing these ridiculous goggles and that you brought him flowers,” she mumbled out loud, hoping no student would walk by. God, she hoped not.  KNOCK! KNOCK! She blinked as she took a step backwards, mumbling in Spanish about her worries and troubles.

There was something about being up alone in the Astronomy tower, shirt off, music blasting, drinking firewhiskey, and staring through his telescope, that Demetri Woolfolk simply couldn't resist. Of course, this was what he did on a regular basis. Not many people bothered him up in his tower, and it was usually just Graham who did. Demetrius didn't mind the interruption, he just never expected it. To Demetri's understanding, not many people liked him at Hogwarts. He wasn't the most professional professor, but he actually got class done, didn't he? People attended, he taught them to the best of his knowledge, they did his homework, and he passed them all out of laziness. Well, some days he actually looked at their homework. Some days.

Much to Demetri's surprise, he heard a knock at his door. He quickly pulled away from his telescope (Which still worked in the daylight, thanks to magic, just not as well) to send his gaze over towards the door. Perhaps it was Graham... No, it was much too early for drinking games. Demetri rubbed his scruffy chin, his childish face openly voicing his confusion. Who could it be? Demetri turned down his record player to a low level and began trotting over towards the door, fixing his hat, making sure he was indeed wearing pants...

His hand lingered at the doorknob when his brow furrowed. He was forgetting something... Oh, duh! A shirt! The man awkwardly stepped back and quickly looked around to find something to cover his bare chest. Ahh... His table cloth! Demetri picked up the pink, floral cloth and then paused once more. Since when was his table cloth a woman's robe? A silk one even? When did Demetri have a woman in a pink silk robe in his room!? The things he missed every day!

Demetri pulled the robe on, tying it lazily, and finally opened the door. The man's eyebrows immediately shot up as he recognized the young lady at his door... Addie Delacroix was one of Demetri's favorite students. Not that he ever admitted to it, she was simply the first older student to ever like him. It was always nice knowing someone respected him that wasn't Astrid. Nothing against her... But Demetri didn't really count relatives.

"Miss Delacroix? What a nice surprise..." Demetrius smiled, his eyes flicking down to the flowers in the girl's hand. "... Violets?" Being Demetri, he immediately had to add, "One of the many flowers of the Taurus, mhm... You're a Taurus, aren't you? Yet another thing we share in common..." He stepped back and continued to smile down at the girl, "Come on in! Make yourself comfortable!" Demetri wasn't aware of the way Addie felt about him. At all. She was a student, after all, he didn't know students sometimes fancied Professors. Then again, Demetri knew nothing about girls in general, nonetheless teenage girls.

Addie was still standing there waiting for the professor to open that godforsaken door until it finally swung open. The first thing she noticed was hardly his apparel, but rather the music playing in the background. She couldn’t put her finger quite on it but it was a big band swing style that she knew that her father and grandfather often listened to. Her eyes behind the goggles finally looked to his eyes and noticed then the outfit. Smooth one, killer, she thought inside her head, causing a snicker to escape her lips momentarily before going immediately quiet from it. “Your attire is . . . ahem,  a real eye getter I must say, Professor,” she commented, grinning as she pulled the goggles off her face to rest around her neck as she stood still in front of Demetri, her mind wandering off as it often did when occasions such as these occurred. After all, crushing someone of the male gender paralyzed her common sense one hundred percent of the time so it seemed.

"One of the many flowers of the Taurus, mhm... You're a Taurus, aren't you? Yet another thing we share in common..."

She came back to her senses when she realized he was speaking to her about those flowers in her hand. “OH! Yea . . . about that . . .” Addie let out a low whistle as to let out the nervousness surrounding her. It wasn’t like her was going to go off transforming on her again, so what the heck was killing her nerves at the moment!? GET YOURSELF TOGETHER. Twit.  “I got them for you, since you know . . . the whole incident a few weeks ago at the Ball? I felt terrible for you, especially that it was hardly your fault, sir. The violet bit, I thought, would greatly amuse you. And yes, I’m a Taurus.” There. She felt better now knowing she was able to speak to him without stumbling about much like he and Bombay had that one night in the Tower. Best not to mention it, she was quick to think about that particular subject – it spelt ‘disaster’ all over.

The invitation was warm and inviting and thus, Addie entered the room, still staring at his outfit, grinning even wider at the raccoon cap upon his head. Boy, wasn’t he the oddest professor to walk these halls since Sybil Trelawney?  Then again, she liked it since it provided a muse of delight and inspiration of hope during these troubled times. After all, poor Sasha Schlagenweit was clearly the object of attack for Snark, not to mention many others. Once again, another subject best left to her thoughts and not for someone to hear about. Her eyes glanced about the room, intrigued to see what items he possessed and then her ears perked up to hear the song playing that she had heard at the door. Was that . . .  Nirvana? Surely . . .

Her eyes looked back to Demetri and walked back to him, placing the flowers on the table. “You really are . . . (don’t insult him, Adelia came a voice within her that was clearly her mother’s) unique, sir. The music and the outfit most especially really convey that. I think my dad and you would get along too.” Hopefully that didn’t insult him – it was meant more for a compliment than anything. She continued to look about as her eyes left Demetrius once again. Clearly, she was lost in thought and in translation.

“Your attire is . . . ahem,  a real eye getter I must say, Professor,”

Demetri quirked a brow and then looked down at his outfit. Oh, the robe... Right. "I wasn't expecting company... I don't usually wear ladies' clothes..." He said, sheepishly. He only wore lady clothes if he was in a rush (Which he had been at that moment) or drunk. How Demetri was able to find a pair of Neely's pajama pants, he had no clue. But the girl definitely hated him because he looked so much better than her in them. He didn't remember much that happened that night, but that was probably for the best. Getting hammered so hard that you don't remember your embarrassing night? Priceless.

The girl stood there, a bit frozen. Was it something he said? Demetri glanced around the hallway, seeing if there was someone else there that was making her nervous. Demetri couldn't harm a fly... He wasn't threatening... He was a big ol' teddy bear that was really skinny. He simply smiled, though. As if to show the girl he was harmless. He could do no damage. Demetri Woolfolk didn't dislike people, didn't hurt people, didn't bad mouth people. Besides Neely... But she didn't really care about what he said, did she?

“I got them for you, since you know . . . the whole incident a few weeks ago at the Ball? I felt terrible for you, especially that it was hardly your fault, sir. The violet bit, I thought, would greatly amuse you. And yes, I’m a Taurus.”

"Oh, right!" He said, scratching his chin, "I'm real sorry about that... I didn't really mean to lash at you like that," he gave her a comforting chuckle. It was all in the past. Demetrius was better, and Addie wasn't scarred in any physical way. Mental? Ahh... Probably. "But thank you, though... I really appreciate it," Only Demetri Woolfolk would see nothing wrong with a girl buying a man flowers. "Violets... That's great, Miss Delacroix," He chuckled once more. He loved the fact that she actually appealed to his career. It made the gift ten times better. Ten times more directed towards the heart.

She stepped inside and Demetri left the door half-open. Now that he had company, especially a student, he needed to be smart. He remembered learning that when he was with a student-- Especially female-- that he would need another Professor or adult figure with him. But this wasn't public school. And he had no clue who told him that. He highly doubted that anything would happen between him and Addie that would call for legal action later, anyways. He trotted back over to where he was standing before and made sure his surroundings were student-friendly. He found his whiskey bottle by his telescope and quickly snatched it up to hide it.

“You really are . . . unique, sir. The music and the outfit most especially really convey that. I think my dad and you would get along too.”

Demetri's eyebrows raised and he set his firewhiskey down inside his desk. "Err..." He smiled and closed the drawer, "Thank you, Miss Delacroix! That's very sweet of you to say," And she was so sincere... Such a nice girl! "From what you've told me, your dad seems very... Unique, also," He stepped over towards her, socks sliding a bit on the wooden floor. "If he's anything like you, I'm sure I'd enjoy his company!" Demetri complimented her. He was just such a nice guy... Plus, she was complimenting him left and right, he felt a little weird he hadn't said much to her.

"Again... I'm sorry about the Dance. Are you okay?" Demetri asked her, his boyish face showing genuine concern. The one student who likes him had to witness him turn into a wolf... At least she was actually being nice and generous to him! But maybe that was just Addie.

song | read the lyrics; rather awkward, so he’ll wanna change it mayhaps?

She was interested to look more about the room, but that was highly rude, not to mention overstepping boundaries untold. Therefore, Addie decided to plop herself down into a chair that had a most evident floral pillow which made the comfort much easier to work with. All within her head, she was humming oldies music that her father often blasted within his studio. Of course, he had told her all about them, especially that he was one of those children who listened to pirate radios in the sixties. Anneliese, bless her soul, had never known about that -- yet . . . her father had and Addie loved knowing all about it.

"Again... I'm sorry about the Dance. Are you okay?"

Her focus returned back to Demetrius and she grinned. "Trust me when I say this and don't be offended, 'kay? I was a bit worried for the both of us and well, it did give me jitters in dreams for a few days. Rest assured, I’m now right as rain, sir.” A pause and she felt that the music in the room was in a bit repetitive, so she pulled out her wand and aimed it at the radio. “Hope you don’t mind? I was just thinking about m’dad and well . . . this is sorta what he listens to. It absolutely drives me mother and grandparents nutters because I think my mum’s dad doesn’t really approve of it. Something about hidden meanings and whatnot; then again, Dad mentioned that he was a listener of pirate radios.” The song began playing and Addie’s blue eyes were once again looking back at Demetrius’ room. “I hope you don’t mind me visiting. I just felt you look awful lonely sometimes and well, I know it really gets at me when I am.”

Nice one, Adelia. FAIL.

Her cheeks reddened. Maybe this visit was a bombshell waiting to explode. Ugh.

I love Cat Stevens! <3

As soon as Addie sat down, Demetri felt a bit more relaxed. If she was able to get comfortable, then he wouldn't feel like such bad company. He pulled a chair up himself, one that had a rather strange yellow design on it (None of the chairs in his tower matched, after all) and sat a few feet across from the Hufflepuff. Adelia didn't seem too uncomfortable around him, did she? He sat back, smile still on his face. How nice it was to have such unexpected company.

"Trust me when I say this and don't be offended, 'kay? I was a bit worried for the both of us and well, it did give me jitters in dreams for a few days. Rest assured, I’m now right as rain, sir.”

"No, I don't mind," Demetri answered the girl as she changed the music. "I'm sorry to hear that, Miss Delacroix... I didn't mean to frighten you, I really didn't," His smile turned into a concerned frown. His face still looked as innocent as ever. "Being transformed into something inhuman... Well, it's a painful experience," He told her, almost hesitantly. He didn't want to make her feel bad. But as long as they were sharing, well... Might as well. Plus, she was a seventh year. They would already know about how painful it could be, right?

Demetri didn't exactly pay attention to the music Addie had put on. A few words pushed in past his concerned thoughts, making him believe that the song was... Well... It seemed to him that Addie saw him as a father figure. Comparing him to her dad, then playing that song? It simply made sense. Of course, he would never assume she'd fancy him. Especially since he'd never assume anything of the sorts.

“I hope you don’t mind me visiting. I just felt you look awful lonely sometimes and well, I know it really gets at me when I am.”

Demetri swallowed, hard. Did he seem lonely? He was usually alone by nature, being the loner he was. He was a one man wolf pack. He was a cool cat. But... He came off as lonely? "No, I don't mind you visiting," Demetri nodded, trying to sound cheerful though his expression was clearly a bit hurt. How was he suppose to answer that? He was glad she was concerned and all, but he didn't know he could come off as a lonely person.

"I'm... Adelia- I mean, Miss Delacroix..." He paused, "I like being alone, really... But... I still appreciate you visiting," Demetri scratched his chin and sighed, a smile spreading across his face. He really did enjoy company, but he really liked being by himself, too. "I'm an Astronomer, after all. I don't make that best company," He chuckled, trying to make a joke. If Addie felt this way about him... Who else did?

60's music, you win – heat wave plays at the end

It was rather obvious, wasn't it, Addie thought. She was smitten towards Demetrius and well, that was clearly more than just verboten -- it was more like a premediated murder or so she really thought. Then again, she was working herself up all over a childish infatuation, wasn't she? A groan erupted from her lips as she felt to the likings of a moron and that groan soon caught her attention and made her raise an eyebrow. You're really acting like a prat, Adelia. What. A. Moron. She truly did feel like such for being so ignorant at the moment that she wasn't paying too close attention towards Demetrius, who was talking to her at the moment.

I'm an Astronomer, after all. I don't make that best company

"Oh hush, you do too -- it's me who's really ruining the time, pouting as if I'm an infant all over again, Professor. Terribly sorry about that," Addie finally admitted towards Demetrius, blushing all over again. "You're a really good guy, so please, don't think you're a boring individual." Her face only seemed to deepen as her cheeks were burning her. Just shut up, ugh was her initial thought to resign and just pack up this little meeting, but within herself, something was going against the mere thought of doing such a thing. Perhaps, she needed Felix Felicis to improve her mood, eh? A smile in her thinking that would help her situation if she was in bad luck – no, she was in good fortunes, not to mention that she was in good company too.

“You know what? I was just thinking I needed Felix Felicis. Odd, eh?” she mused, still grinning, “The sad thing is that I can’t even think of what to talk about. It’s not because I’m nervous or something like that, but really. I can’t –tea or something like that might boost a brain like mine, then again, the music has got to change.” Addie pulled her wand back out and aimed it at the music player and flicked her wrist. The song was upbeat not to mention something she knew from listening to her father’s own music in his workshop.

A giggle. “That’s me dad in me, I see.”
