During school, Nicola had gotten herself involved with a group of Slytherins proving a bad influence. Some with parents as Death Eaters had learned some very vicious torturing spells and Nic had found herself very intrigued in what these were. She would write down the spells they’d told her about, wondering what she could do with them, how much pain they’d cause and if evidence was left. This became somewhat an obsession for the young girl and as soon as she left school, Nicola dabbled in torture and messing about with people’s bodies. Especially muggles. Due to the money in her family and her ability with memory charms, she would mostly get away with this ‘experimentation’.
At the age of 19, Nicola smuggled illegal goods into the country and sold them from knockturn alley. When a ministry official found out, she tortured him with the cruciatus curse before killing him accidently. She’d used a different curse and let him bleed out too much thanks to being overzealous with the spell. Sentenced to life in Azkaban, she managed to get out five years later with ‘new evidence’ for her case. The ministry foolishly let her out after finding her innocent for the murder and slapping her on the wrist with release regulations for the smuggling.

After gaining a taste for torturing young muggles who are unable to protect themselves, Nicola will no doubt continue with this. She likes the idea of having a muggle as a pet to treat how she wishes and will probably try to find a suitable muggle. Nicola is also quite willing to kill again if it means a bit of fun first. She just plans on being more careful to avoid Azkaban again.

No, although as a requirement of her release, she is being monitored by the ministry. She is expected to attend regular meetings with a supervisor from the ministry.
Wand Description:
Nicola’s wand most definitely reflects her needs and the spells she most commonly uses. The wood is yew, specifically for dark magic and sorcery, it is also inflexible, showing her inability to back down. Dragon heartstring provides the core, enhancing the curses and hexes that Nic loves to cast. Her initials, NHBR are engraved beautifully on the handle.
Physical Description:
Nicola’s is a petite frame. Physically, she isn’t strong but she makes up for it with her gall and magical expertise. If she was no longer allowed her wand then she would no longer be very intimidating. She is light and slim, reaching a height of about 5”3 and a weight of about 8 stone having lost weight while in Azkaban.
Long dark locks of hair fall from Nicola’s scalp, usually in messy waves. During her time in Azkaban her hair became matted and messy and excessively long. In fact, her whole appearance was in terrible condition. The lively sparkle left her dark brown eyes, only to return when she recommences her torturous habits. Her skin has become far paler and poses a stark contrast to the dark locks flowing from the head.
When looking at Nicola, one’s first impression would be that she is very attractive. Perhaps from a distance she has a somewhat innocent quality to her look. However, upon closer viewing, one can see the madness reflecting from her eyes and the usual grin. Her elegant clothes now hang loosely from her body due to the weight lost in the last five years. Nic has a tendency to wear dark colours and beiges, long flowing robes and skirts.
Personality Description:
Nicola, or Nic as few ‘friends’ refer to her, seeks the majority of her enjoyment from the displeasure, sadness and pain of others. The young witch literally thrives off of it. She gains even more pleasure if she was the lucky person to inflict this onto the poor unsuspecting victim. Nic has always enjoyed hearing people scream in pain.
This sadism, she claims was because she ‘was abused as a child’. Anyone to believe this most definitely doesn’t know Nic enough. The young Slytherin girl grew up in an adequate environment with just the right amount of discipline. However, in order to get out of Azkaban, Nic commenced cracking out the lies.
Lying and showing oneself differently to one’s personality are two skills Nic has mastered. Once being an evident psychopath with a crazy grin on her lips and discussing with those close how she tortured the last poor soul, Nic has changed since Azkaban. Instead she now knows how to cover up these emotions. Or perhaps she just had these parts of her personality sucked out by the Dementors. No one is quite sure. But the woman that emerged from Azkaban was a much more knowledgeable, mature and stable one.
Or as was the act Nicola put on for the wizemgambot and her lawyers. She is in fact quite insane. She still thinks of other people (especially muggles) as playthings but simply does a better job of hiding this from important people with her freedom in their hands.
Her madness, Nic claims was due to the fact that before her sentence she was cursed and made to do all the things she did with the smuggling. The investigation had simply driven her mad. Now Nic presents herself as a sexually confident, level headed woman. It isn’t apparent which of these two personas is faked.
What is apparent is Nicola’s work shy attitude. Being born into a rich pureblood family meant that she didn’t have to work for things. They were simply handed to the little girl on a plate. She believed she had the right to have anything and coming out of Azkaban with a family having turned their back leaves Nic with little money and a need to work.
History:
Being born to a rich pureblood family allowed for many luxuries as a child. Nicola was the daughter of Collin and Carina Randall. The couple were brought together through a marriage of convenience and Carina was killed while giving birth to Nicola.
Although Nicola received many kinds of luxuries in her childhood, she never had the luxury of her parents being around. With her mother dead, her father retreated into himself and barely spent time with his little girl. She was supposed to be a boy and now Collin couldn’t have that much needed heir.
The solitude Collin’s disapproval provided sent the child slightly mad as she grew up. She was always yearning for attention and in school, despite her small size, was often bullying her peers. She didn’t seem to have a conscience when carrying out this evil bullying and was often hauled up in front of her teachers.
Due to the war, school ended early for Nicola and she spent this practically lawless era finally testing out what she could do to those weaker than her. She didn’t care much for the Death Eater movement in the idea of joining them and more wanted to see what she could do herself. She used family money to keep her going, living in a lovely apartment and torturing harmless muggle men before wiping their memories.
Running slowly out of money and finally feeling the need to get more involved in the ‘community’, Nicola began to smuggle illegal or rare goods into the country to sell out of a small shop in knockturn alley under the cover of an antiques store. At the age of 18, after having been smuggling for a good few months, Nicola met her future husband. William Tawse was at five years older than Nicola and with his large bulky figure and Scottish accent, she became putting in his strong hands. He was a violent, ruthless man but she never once imagined he would turn on her. Billy used Nicola to mold, he knew the dark arts and she learnt much from him. She followed his ideas and practiced spells he would gladly teach her. She was prepared to do just about anything for him. 6 months after meeting William, the couple were married, much to the dislike of Nicola’s father. The couple continued to smuggle the illegal goods for a couple of years until an auror-in-training, hoping to make a name for himself stormed into their shop alone.
This was when Nicola had her first real taste of blood. With William as a captive and encouraging audience, she sent many curses flying at this auror before finally using a deadly curse on him, causing the lowly recruit to bleed to death. This, according to Nicola had been ‘accidental’ and she claimed she’d been forced into it, was under the influence of the imperious curse. However, the reality had been that she’d feared prison. William had promised her he’d lie, giving her an alibi. Unfortunately, when the time came, he hung his wife out to dry and was sent down simply for the smuggling, accepting no part in the murder.
Nicola was sent to Azkaban for a life sentence at the end of the trial. She served five years of this and would not have coped with much longer. Being locked away in a cold damp cell for 24 hours a day had sent her insane. All happiness she’d been able to gain before from the memories of her previous crimes only vanished and instead her whole demeanour was taken over by extreme sadness and paranoia. She lost a huge amount of weight while in the wizarding prison and her body grew frailer due to mal nutrition. She constantly felt too sick to eat. Nicola doesn’t wish to go back to thinking of these times because it simply brings back horrific memories for her.
Fortunately for the young witch, her father finally paid for a lawyer to get her out, promising this was the last thing he’d do for his daughter. He would then never want to speak to her again. New evidence had been planted that led to someone having used a curse on Nicola before killing the man himself and Nicola was finally released.
During this re-trial the finger had very firmly been pointed in the direction of William Tawse, Nicola claiming she had never used her wand for such a spell. Instead it may have been him. Which was why he’d been so willing to testify against her during the first trial. Nicola now fears the recourse of this decision when Billy is released from Azkaban and comes to find her. This is a reason for her refusal to talk about him until then. If she denied having a furious and violent husband, the problem would vanish is what she told herself.
However, the mad witch still couldn’t believe her luck at being released. She was told she had to get herself a job and was given an auror to meet with regularly to check on her progress due to the fact she’d still been found guilty for the smuggling acts. Her release had been a compromise on the behalf of the ministry.

What did she do now? Nic had planned what she’d do on her first day of freedom. At least three muggle’s would be led into her old apartment and she’d play with them for a few hours, maybe more. Her dark eyes had often come back alive as she’d sat in the cold cell planning out the torturous acts she’d enjoy carrying out. Muggles didn’t need all of their fingers. Or their brains.
After these muggle had been played with, she’d wipe their memory, dump them back into the city and watch them struggle in confusion and pain. A truly beautiful sight. Then she’d pay a few visits to family. Moira needed to be reminded of her favourite cousin. But the first thing she’d planned on doing was having a lovely warm back and buying wardrobes full of new, beautiful clothes.
Now that she was out, Nic didn’t seem as highly motivated to torture just yet. Now she didn’t even have an apartment to return to. And she wasn’t about to turn up to greet family looking like she hadn’t bathed in years. Nic pulled her coat more around her slim body, shivering from the cold November wind. As she tucked some messy hair behind her ear, a small boy ran past her, knocking her into a wall.
“Stupid little brat!” She screamed after the child before turning down into the dark knockturn alley, her mind now imagining that little brat on a table in front of her. A drink was much needed and then she could consider what she’d do from here.

Nicola is mad. She enjoys revelling in other people’s pain, especially when she has been the one to cause it. There is little that she won’t do and lots that she will. She believes wizards to be the superior species and wouldn’t mind having a muggle as a pet.
