[Nov. 16] Wandering thoughts [Faelyn, open] on April 21, 2010, 08:03:24 PM Sunday, November 16, 11 am.As Megan stepped through the portrait hole opening, she let out a yawn. Recently, she had attended several of the parties that occurred so far that month. While she always like the many parties, there was still that issue that her fifth year was still racing on. As the days rushed to Christmas, the fifth years would start to get bombarded with work soon afterwards. So, she wouldn't really have as much time to be lazy, or practice Qudditch, practice her art, or partake in the clubs that she joined. Shaking her head lightly, the brunette dropped her bag on the floor at a table in the common room. It wouldn't hurt her to work on her work a little. Actually, that would help her a lot, considering how Meg needed to finish an essay due the next day. But, ah, those parties just caused her to back track on her work a little. Thankfully it wasn't a school day or anything, so she wouldn't be loaded with anymore work. Meg slumped into a chair on the table. Taking out a piece of parchment and her quill, she figured that it would be best to start working now, before the Ravenclaw Common Room became crowded with students. Sure, Ravenclaw was supposed to be the house where intelligent was a trait. But, that didn't mean that everyone in Ravenclaw would spend their whole day studying. Nope, some of the other Ravenclaws would spend their whole time talking. But, Meg was a little different. She had no real problem with sitting in one spot, and studying for a while. Pushing a piece of her brunette hair out of her eyes, she opened up her Transfiguration textbook. With a sigh, she began her essay. But, her mind wasn't really with it. She barely wrote one sentence before her mind wandered off. It wandered off to the image of a drunken Professor Bombay. With a laugh, she quickly changed the piece of paper in front of her, and started to sketch the image of Professor Bombay, based on that burning memory. Oh, yes, she definitely was a little different.outfit Skip to next post Re: [Nov. 16] Wandering thoughts [Faelyn, open] Reply #1 on April 21, 2010, 09:02:20 PM 'Someone, most likely male, isn't quite what they seem', Male? Who? Callian? Her father? Trickery and deception cleverly disguised as charm and friendliness. That described a number of men, nearly all of them. Trickery, Deception, harmful? Against me? Really? Were the cards somewhat true or just a lie?Faelyn was absorbed in her chaotic thoughts as she entered the common room ignoring what was going on around her. Her riveting, dark blue eyes stared unblinking at six thin, elegantly patterned tarot cards fanned out in her hands. Her feet automatically followed the familiar path she always took to her favorite seat that was typically empty at this time of day. After all it was a Sunday and well the commonroom had been empty as of late due to all of those parties that Fae rarely attended. She barely avoided a nasty scrape from the sharp corner of a study table as she continued her descent on her favorite chair. For three weeks the same pesky, errant card had been showing up in her readings. Sure it had been in different spots but it was there. For the second time the card had landed in the same spot. Faelyn was racking her brain, going over ever lesson she had on cards from her grandmother and tutor as she grabbed the back of her favorite chair at her favorite table. She gave the chair a quick tug expecting it to whip right out creating space for her thin body. Instead the typically sweet chair decided to misbehave. Fae frowned as she wrenched her eyes away from her hands only to be staring at the back of a very familiar looking head instead of an empty chair. no wonder it had been troublesome, she had been trying to pull her friend as well.Faelyn's frown turned into a sheepish grin as she let go of the chair and took a seat on an empty one next to her roommate. "Sorry 'bout that. I thought the chair was empty" She said as she sat her shoulder bag, stuffed with her textbooks on the floor. Meg's full attention was on the doodle that she was making of Professor Bombay where he was drunk. Obviously, she assumed that it wasn't Professor Bombay's attention to appear drunk during a sleepover in the astronomy tower. But, the fact that the occurrence happened, there was no turning back from it now. Besides, she never commented on what happened to Professor Bombay anyway. The sound of the scratch of her quill against the paper filled the common room as Megan continued to draw. Her mind was completely oblivious to what was happening around her, which was what happened when she was concentrating on her art work. It wasn't her best work, but it would still do. After all, her creative expression had to be released somehow. Besides, she figured that it would be best for her to put less emphasis on it. If Professor Bombay ever saw the drawing, it would almost be certain that Meg would have to destroy it. Of course, she could always say that it was just a creative tangent to her usual artwork. But, that probably wouldn't have that much merit, given what had been happening around Hogwarts. As she drew the figure of Professor Bombay, she was completely fixated on the drawing. Therefore, when Meg felt her chair being pushed back, she looked up quickly in surprise. She quickly covered her drawing with her one sentence essay without looking up. "Sorry Prof..." she trailed off, after she noticed who almost tried to pull the chair out from underneath her. "Oh, Hi Faelyn," she greeted her friend, "It's fine, don't worry about it." She really was obsessing over those tarot cards. Cillian would surely lecture her on it if she didn't pull her head out of the clouds. Thinking about her divination's professor reminded Fae that she should set up a meeting with him soon. He had asked about her trip to Ireland at the end of Summer and she was eager to share her experiences. Still she had been busy and distracted. Faelyn plopped down into a empty chair as she focused her wayward thoughts on her friend. While she lived with Megan they'd both been so busy lately they had seen little of each other. Fae hadn't gone to the party, she had slept through it or at least that was her excuse. "How was the sleepover?" She asked as she tried to angle her body so she could see the work her friend was drawing. Clearly, drawing a funny sketch of one of their Professors was in no way a good strategy for studying for the OWLs. Now, if Megan could actually find a way where that could help with Herbology, then that would be even better. Yet, it would probably be best if she could get that picture out of her mind as soon as possible. She would hate for it to distract her from her OWL studying later in the year. Not only will those unnecessary distractions stop, Megan wouldn't be able to converse with her housemates and friends nearly as much. After all, this was her future that she would need to prepare for, and it would probably cause her stress as the exam time came closer. Yes, and it would be a totally different stress, than the stress of trying to pass a class, since the class itself doesn't determine what you'll be when you grow up. Rather, it's the knowledge that you gather. So, Meg probably wouldn't be able to talk freely when that time came. But, until then, she had no real obligation to concentrate on her work, well, that was any obligation to overly study for the exams. With the image of a drunken Professor Bombay slowly forming on the parchment, she smiled to Faelyn. "Well, it was nothing that you would expect. We had two unexpected, and drunken, guests," she responded. Skip to next post
