Alright, I'm diving back in.

Right now I'm still catching up on all that's been happening while I've been gone, which has been a lot. XD  I've talked to Mai a little bit and read around some and have a general idea of what's going on.  Here's what I'm thinking so far.

In-game the last time Nico and Covi were involved in any threads are in September and now we're in October/November.  For Covadonga a LOT has happened on both the werewolf and the runespoor front, and I think the only way to excuse her not being involved in much of it would be some kind of trip to Africa.  Does this sound feasible?

As for the good professor, I think it would be safe to say he's just been around being his usual goofy self.  Ah! and as soon as I get some more things figured out here I'm going to tally up points for the Potions classes... if it hasn't been done already for me.

I'm going to start up on Covi first.  Anyone want to meet her upon her return?  Fill her in on all the goodies that have been happening?

Since Ahmed is in England to investigate international Runespoor smuggling, maybe it’s time he and Covi met?

Ooo!  Sounds like fun.  Anything specific you have in mind?  Covadonga recently released that big momma runespoor from the Diagon Alley incident.  That was actually the original reason why she went back to Africa... but then she was kidnapped by her mentor and forced to wrangle some new beasties.  XD

Maybe Covi might know one of the people Ahmed overheard at the Indian Ministry. It has been suggested to me that it might have been Trevor Reid. I like that idea...


He would of course be anxious to keep his identity a secret and it might get Ahmed and Covi in some very hot water if they figure out who he is.

Haha I need to write an article about this. I've just been really busy.

Basically, Trevor Reid (Aileen's older brother, who works in the International Dept of the Ministry) has been involved in the Runespoor smugglings, signing papers that make the transportation of it possible. It's likely the eggs are hidden in another product and he knows about it, but because it puts extra money in his pocket he doesn't care.

I think the Eleor brothers are looking into it. He'll be arrested sometime in early November.

I just need to set aside time and write the article .

And I might injure her somehow... again...

Because I'm evil to my characters like that.  XD

Actually, do you think I should save my next injury for Nico?  Covadonga has already taken on a number of scars.  Either way I think it would be awesome to somehow do a thread where Trevor is captured. 

Of course, this means Kabir and Covi should meet beforehand, perhaps to plan the attack?

if an arrest thread is done, can Samuel join in? A good IC excuse is having a requirement that a Senior Auror be present for arrests of Ministry Officials.

If you guys wanna RP Trevor's arrest, that's definitely cool by me . He's an NPC, so you all are welcome to godmod him however you see fit. Feel free to PM me with any questions that come up along the way. I would offer to jump in and RP his reaction, but I just don't think I'm going to have enough time.

However, at a later point, I would be very interested in getting Aileen involved. Perhaps they would question her about his activities? This is one area where she's actually blameless, but could be fun!

Also, send a note to Melissa/Dreogan Eleor. We've talked about the bare details, so she might want to have her characters involved in his arrest as well.

These are the ideas I wrote to Melissa a while back about the Runespoor smuggling. Feel free to use them/add to them:

I think Trevor would have easily been bribed by the smugglers in the Runespoor trade. It might be interesting if he signed some fishy looking documents that allowed the smugglers access to England, under the cover of another product. Since Runespoor eggs are probably fragile, I think they would have to be shipped in something that will cushion them… maybe literally inside cushions, haha. Like ‘Pip’s Perpetually Puffy Pillows’. I am open to other, less silly ideas too, hahaha.

Of course, he could claim that he didn’t know what he was signing, but a document would give some proof that he was involved, and then if someone takes a close look at his Gringotts account, they’d see a suspiciously large amount of money coming in around the same time the Runespoor was smuggled into England. Or, if it’s possible for one person to have two Gringotts accounts, I could see Trevor keeping a second account under a different name for his less than legal endeavors. Maybe something for Adon to discover?

And Trevor getting caught in the Runespoor smuggling could open up a whole can of worms, and lead to other investigations into international trade mishaps and strange dealings that Dree didn’t approve of. Trevor has done this sort of thing before (taken bribes and turned the other cheek), but he hasn’t gotten caught until the Runespoor smuggling. That might add some extra drama to the DoIMC?

Also, Aileen’s father works in the same department (which is how Trevor got the job in the first place, hehe), but he’s never been involved in anything illegal. He’s just apathetic to his son’s activities and pretends like he doesn’t know what Trevor’s doing. I am open to an investigation of her father, Douglas, as well, even if they can’t pin anything on him.

Ooo... this sounds like fun!  I would think gmodding him would be the way to go at this point, though expect to receive a few PMs when I'm writing of him.

And Covi having to question the lady who used to pick on her friend Opie back in her Hoggie days will be... just too damn delicious to pass up.  BWHAHAHAHA!   :Evil:

I do like the Puffy Pillow ideas, though they may need something harder to stabilize them.  Snake eggs are of the leathery, soft, and mushy sort.  I'm even going to go so far to say (since it's an African species) that it's probably oblong and bumpy, so they could be easily stacked too and won't slide about so much.  In addition it would be beneficial if they were packed in a substance like sand or loamy soil.

The Animal Scientist voice in my head is going to shut up now.

I will PM Melissa a link to this thread, but certainly some kind of incriminating documentation would definitely help things along.  As for Papa Reid, I don't think he would be in much trouble.  If anything he would be dishonored and shamed to death.  I would certainly not be against any kind of mention of him being questioned, though.

Paz, I don't mind at all if we wanna change the product that the eggs are transported in. Whatever makes the most sense! Maybe there's a special soil that the herbologists use, so the eggs are hidden in that?

As for Trevor, feel free to PM me with any questions. I sort of see him as... very polite, very cool and collected. But arrogant. He's used to getting what he wants. Sometimes arrogance and bursts of temper might show through if he's pushed enough.. and I'd say getting arrested would be pushing, hahaha.

I haven't thought too much about him besides his relationship with Aileen. They were very close as kids, and she kinda looked up to him. They were the two oldest children, and the favorites of the family. As time has passed though, Aileen has some resentment against him and he has a hard time understanding her choices in life (he's got the 'perfect' family, a well-paying important job, and though he's involved in some shady dealings their parents don't care, as long as he puts on a respectable front. Aileen, on the other hand, is repeatedly told to settle down and have a family, 'cause apparently being a professor/runes scholar isn't good enough, haha).

She'd still, of course, be upset when he's arrested. But... they're definitely no longer very close.

When I first pitched the idea of the Trevor Reid arrest, my thought was that Adon Eleor was doing a bit of extrapolating from past circumstance. The same situation has happened in two countries: once with an NPC (deceased), Salwa Bernier in Jordan -- a close associate of Dreogan Eleor who was bribed (attempted, at least), tortured, then murdered by the smugglers -- and then in India. Dreogan then decided to keep an eye on his own department, knowing that it would likely be someone in his department that was contacted and bribed. He looked closely at Trevor Reid and his past histories and found a few strikingly suspicious occurences which he confronted the man about -- amiably and non-suspiciously. As such, he got no confession of guilt and things were glibly explained away. The investigation was handed back to Adon in that condition. (I think Dreogan didn't want to push it further at the time.)

That's what we have as of about October 17.

So here's my thought. Because I am going to be busy (read: job hunt, finals, house hunt, orals exam, and reading on average 300 pg/day, oh and usual day job and school on top of this), until mid-May, I have decided that Adon is leaving for a short time on leave. In that time, it's possible that he would hand over some of his cases to Aurors; we were mostly planning on NPCs so that Adon wouldn't be entirely left in the dust on all this, to return only to find himself completely replaced. But I could see strong cases for Covi and Kabir to be involved in this.

Perhaps Adon briefs Kabir on the particulars of the case (whatever findings Elle is comfortable with with the timeline of about Oct. 20th) and keeps Dreogan involved in the process. They can go about sleuthing, questioning, and finding incriminating evidence. I'd like Dreogan, definitely, to remain involved in that step, since he's kind of the "inside" contact privy to the files, and probably knows Trevor the best of the three -- he is about the same age and they've been colleagues for a few years.

If possible, if I'm able to return in time, I'd love for Adon to be present for the arrest, but if things simply cannot be put on hold for about a month, that can be flexible. But I think if we can't get around holding off on the active arrest any longer (I still think I can make the original early-mid November plan Elle stated), we could have an interesting plot potential in that Adon would feel rather cut-out of this and even a little jealous. Just a possibility if moving at that rate is an inevitability.

I can't wait to see how this plays out! I'd love love love to stay involved in it. I'll be on at least once a week for PMing and questions . . . if that would work? Lemme know!

So, everything Melissa said sounds good to me . Trevor's arrest doesn't have to happen in early/mid-November.. that was just a tentative idea. I'd also love it if Adon were involved in his arrest, so if we could, I don't mind waiting to RP that part until Melissa has more time. We can probably figure out a way to drag the investigation until late November/early December if needed . Then Adon and the others can lock Trevor up, haha.

As for Dree, yeah, we can definitely say he's involved in the investigation even if he's not directly RPing it out. Should be easy enough to talk to Melissa once a week and keep the lines of communication open . Whooo! Should be exciting!

Just got some more information and backstory on the Runespoor plot in general from Dawn about the Indian Ministry's involvement and possibly some participation from the Dept. of Mysteries in the past.  Overall the issue is more political than I knew about.

And I also have no problem with holding off the arrest, the more the merrier!

So how about Adon goes to Kabir saying "Doodz, can haz halp?" and then Kabir goes to Covi saying "Ladyperson, can haz halp?"  Then Kabir, Covi, Dree, and others can go about sniffing around for things for a few threads until May so Melissa can hop on in.

Does the Indian Ministry have something like the RCMC?  Covadonga could work that angle... amongst others.  (OH SNAP!)

Oh - and this is an entirely minor side story to this whole plot (so you all are welcome to do as little or as much with it as you'd like) but during their field trip to the quidditch supply store, Keegan and Mairead take off on a side adventure to Knockturn.  At some point during it, oblivious to what it is, Mairead gets her mitts on a small hatchling runespoor that found its way out and about and it has taken up residence in her pocket.  Dazmond discovers the stowaway first - where it'll go from there, I have no clue.  But, just thought you'd like to know.

And, i think I told you about this in AIM (but can't remember now) - on the werewolf front, Cinaed is in the process of flicking his middle finger to the ministry for his wandless status and using samples from the werewolf he kidnapped in October to create a wizarding bio-weapon.  Frank Pratt will be its first victims and it will, unfortunately, have some unfortunate side effects.  So, he's going to be unleashed on Diagon soon and there may - or may not *shifty eyes* - be a victim.  bruwhaha
