Notes: Johann is a linguist/translator who is applying to join her department, and will become a translator. He's likely to be very polite and show Gabrielle a high level of respect, while being a curious and intelligent member of the team, probably guilty of working a little too hard to ensure every corner is considered. If however, he ever feels dislike to Gabrielle - through disagreement over handling something, or because she thinks he's an arrogant idiot at times, he may resort to his frankly childish tactics of mucking around with translations (see bio for what he used to do).

Francis and Gabrielle dated in 1986-1989 - in their twenties. Francis considers Gabrielle his first 'proper' love, and proposed to her, but Gabrielle found it too much and didn't accept. The relationship was difficult from then on, and they realised sadly they had different long term wishes in life, particularly as Gabrielle's career was her focus. They agreed to split ways, sadly, but Francis invited her to his wedding with Claire as a friend. Gabrielle is one of the few people Francis could be frank with over how things are in his life now, and there is a risk that the more his love for Claire is beaten by her condition, that he would feel drawn to seek comfort in Gabrielle.
