In fact, the malicious wide grin that forms across her face combines with a sinister gaze that many have compared to the look a serial killer will give his victims before he tortures and kills them. It's a twisted-pleasure sort of expression that usually means someone's about to go to the Hospital Wing.Bellatrix herself has naturally platinum-blonde hair that absolutely stunned people in her earlier years because it was something they highly approved of and goggled at, the same as her twin sister's. Unfortunately, as she got older and people started being unable to tell them apart, the two of them began to express themselves and show off their differences through both hair and fashion. While her sister stayed with blonde and outrageous pink and started cutting it off more, Bellatrix decided to keep her own long and has dyed it jet black. Every once in a while, she'll streak or highlight her hair with bright colors that somehow match her bizarre clothing and depending upon her mood, it will either be fully straightened or fashioned in loose ringlets. Since her skin tone is so fair, she tends to go outside a lot in hopes of darkening it at least an eighth of a shade, but it never happens. As for her taste in clothing, she has very little regard for the rules and can't stand being in a uniform. She says it doesn't "express herself" enough--the truth is, she simply doesn't like abiding by the rules and tries to get away with little things such as having her tie carelessly hanging around her neck, a different pair of colorful socks that are not "approved", or her shirt open one button too low. It's really all for attention, not because she likes showing off her body. Her actual fashion sense is shared with her twin sister, Beatrix: colorful, loud, and clothes and accessories so wild that it's brilliantly curious enough to start a trend.Personality Description: Contrary to popular belief, she does not enjoy being the center of attention. The reason she dresses in clothes and tries to be different is to show that she is wild, crazy, and fun. However, what she can't stand is the way that people crowd her or lavish on her; she likes being noticed, but not smothered by adoring fans. She does her best to live in Beatrix's shadow because she's more of a behind-the-scenes girl: it allows her free-range of doing mischeivous tasks (such as jinxing or pushing people down) without the spotlight being cast on her. People sometimes say that she frames her sister or "uses" her to do mean things; this is not so as Beatrix seems to enjoy being the decoy while her sister runs around in the shadows to steal from the cookie jar, so to speak. This way, she won't get caught and her sister will still look like the cute and innocent goody-two-shoes that Bellatrix often teases her about. This contradiction revolves around her mood: most of the time, when being sneaky, she would prefer the shadows and isolation from people; on the other hand, when she's feeling flirty, spontaneous, and in a generally great mood, she wants to dress to shout out to the world "I'm here and I'm awesome!" She's a little more prone to being a bully and actually enjoys being a menace unlike her sister. They're alike yet complete opposites: while Beatrix does her best to play role-model, Bellatrix will try to get her to "have some fun" every once in a while by going on an impish and destructive streak: jinxing first years ("it's just this once!"), ignoring her homework ("you don't want to do it anyway"), swearing in front of teachers (-giggle- "You said 'ass'!"), planting a boobytrap in a classroom for other students or the professor ("I dare you!"). On the other hand, Beatrix has a pretty good influence on her twin as well by motivating her to get her work done on time so she can be rewarded ("You won't graduate this year if you don't pass"), doing good deeds ("you can always make up for it later by torturing them"), acting polite or apologizing (-giggle- "You said 'sorry'!")and being compassionate or sympathetic towards other people in general ("I dare you!"). Since the other one is aware of what they feel very deep down, each one knows what the other one can, will, and wants to do and persuades the other to try on her twin's shoes for a short period of time. This keeps them both "in check" in a very strange way. Contradicting this, every once in a while the twins will "gang up" together by either being a pair of goody-two shoes which is good for the world all around or wreak havock upon the planet and those that inhabit it, a very destructive warpath that many people try to avoid. This personality and mood switch borders on the term "maniacal" as Bellatrix, just like her sister, can be so furious that she's throwing books around the room and in the next second, giddy as a schoolgirl (no pun intended) whistling a cheery tune and giggling at the most ridiculous things. If she's in this good of a mood, it's something worth buying everyone rounds in The Three Broomsticks because depending upon what put her in such a blissfull mood, it could last quite some time (the record was a whole two days!). For this reason alone, people try to suck up or do things that will put her in a good mood (also known as "bribing"), but these idiots usually just walk away with the nose of a pug dog and ears like an elephant. People have often claimed her severe mood swings to be "psychotic", but that's only because there are not many words to describe what Bellatrix really is. Her closer friends, such as Beatrix, affectionately refer to Bellatrix as "crazy", but this is not so. She's not actually mad, it's just the way people view her.Attention, tattlers, snobs (other than her sister, but it is a trait she dislikes), suck-ups and brown-nosers, Miss Perfects (her sister is not a miss perfect, she's a goody-two shoes; there's a difference), and obdient people not only annoy her, they can also piss her off if she is somehow involved in their schemes to get her into trouble. She is a chaotic rebel at heart meaning that whenever a person expects something of her, Bellatrix often gets the feeling she "gave the wrong impression" and will quickly correct their views of her by doing something that not only shocks them, but also offends them. There are not many characters that don't annoy her or get on her good side, but a few such instances would be partners in crime (position taken by Beatrix), the ambitious, the quirky yet fun people, and "mad" people who are outcast by society because they paint demented and strange portraits like Picasso. Her interest lies in odd objects like broken quills, rusted cauldrons, tattered books, and chipped bottles. She often claims that items like these have been "characterized by life" and finds herself very attached to them for that reason alone. Her journal itself has been "characterized" by adding jewels, sanding the leather, pressing wet paper to it so that spontaneous sentences have been imprinted onto the cover, and "grunge" effects have made it into a very unique and quirky book for her to write in.Her relationship with her sister is probably the only relationship that will ever last. Since her mother and her father split up, Bellatrix has become highly confused. She doesn't understand where her allegiances lie if it were to ever come down to her father in a custody-debate over the kids and all of her other siblings seem just as confused as she is. Therefore, the only person she confides in and clings to is Beatrix. In fact, she's so clingy that she almost stalks her own twin: she won't leave her alone if she can help it. Truthfully, Bellatrix is frightened that something might happen and she won't see her sister again causing her to be over-clingy as well as protective of Beatrix. Where fear is concerned, her imagination runs wild to bring up scenarios in her mind where their mother tries to hurt Beatrix for whatever reason and that is what has motivated Bellatrix to researching and practicing defensive and protection spells.History: Bellatrix and Beatrix were born in Holyhead, Wales and shortly thereafter moved to London, England. She was a happy, platinum-blonde toddler that always picked on Beatrix because she could; it was her weird way of showing affection. Whenever Erin was born, she did the same thing. Their parents tried to stop her, but she insisted on showing how much she loved her siblings through rough (and violent) play. Their older brother, Michael III, was the only exception to her "tough love" because from the first time she tried to shower him with her crudeness, he slapped her square in the face. Needless to say, she didn't do it again and was very careful how and when she approached him. Michael Dark II and Audrey Chancelier-Dark divorced when Bea and Bella were about seven. Michael had divorced Audrey because she had cheated on him with multiple guys while he was working long hours for the Ministry. Bella had known about it because her mother had taken her to the wizarding fashion studio where she worked as a Fashion Designer and Bella had waited over four hours with nothing to do while her mother "tended to business" with another man; Bella could hear moaning coming from the room, but she didn't understand it until later in her life when her brother, Michael III, had explained the splitting of their family to her.Once their parents divorced, Bea went back to Holyhead and Bella, Erin, and Michael III stayed in London. During this four year time span, Bella and Bea only talked to each other through owls. She was confused by the divorce and from there on wasn't entirely sure which parent to side with or even like. Part of her blame went towards her mother who had done the actual cheating, but most of the blame went towards her father for not standing up for their family and putting a stop to it and not fighting harder to take Bella with him. Still, Bellatrix would have rather been with her father and twin rather than her mother who, after the divorce, began obsessing over Bellatrix. Once it was discovered that her brother, Michael III, was a Squib, there was a lot of tension in the house. Their mother ended up yelling at Erin and, especially Michael, at least three times a day because she felt it was his fault that their father was tormenting her. Bellatrix, of course, was clung to by her mother who tried to spoil her and give her everything she wanted in hopes of bribing Bellatrix to have a perfect relationship with her. Audrey even went so far as take her daughter with her to the fashion studio where she would have Bellatrix model for her while she sketched or try out the latest fashion dresses. Her mother even tried to pressure Bella into becoming a model. Every day, when she was with Bella, Audrey threw out casual yet infuriating remarks about her other daughter and the way that the "nasty brat" had betrayed her, how filthy she was because Bea was like her father. There was one time when they were going to get ice cream after a day in the studio when her mother, as usual, compared Bellatrix to Beatrix:"You're so much prettier than that ugly sow. She never had what it took to become such a gorgeous model, the way you will be when you come of age. Her hair never curled the way yours did, either, I could never do a thing with it and she always had that mad look in her eye. She's mad, just like her father." Bellatrix had finally had enough. She had become sick of being her mother's doll, the "perfect" twin, the "good child". It was at that point that she opened her mouth and let loose a string of rage that came out in the same language as the most vulgar of sailors--right in the middle of the street. During that raving, Bellatrix showed and told her mother that she, too, was like her father and twin sister and that the woman had no business talking about either of them that way. Her mother tried to shush her, but Bellatrix had blown her top and caused a nearby stack of cauldrons to explode. It was clear then that she was not a Squib like her older brother and her mother, horrified at her daughter's insanity, tried to claim she was insane and have her locked away. That was when the Hogwarts letter arrived. Her mother still tried to lock her up, but Bellatrix wrote to her father. He could not appear in person because he had Beatrix to look after which greatly disappointed Bellatrix and only fueled her anger (and confusion). Instead, he sent Michael III some money and demanded he take Bella and Erin to the Leaky Cauldron without their mother's knowledge. Michael did so and looked after his sisters for two weeks before their mother finally found them. Audrey burst in to the pub one morning and started to force them all to come home, but Bellatrix threw such a horrible tantrum that the woman, fearing her reputation would be ruined, promised that if Bellatrix would stop, she wouldn't be locked away. Warirly, Bellatrix agreed and Michael III saw to it that his mother kept her word. She stayed with her mother until it was time to go to Hogwarts and saw her father and sister at King's Cross, giving them both a tight hug. The twins were reunited and it looked as if her mother would have started an argument with their father if it wasn't for the warning signs and looks Bellatrix was giving her, signaling a temper tantrum if her mother said a word. Audrey did not and the girls boarded the train.Unfortunately, Beatrix was sent into Ravenclaw while Bellatrix was sorted into Slytherin. This would force them apart, but at least they were still together at the same school--a fact that Bella wouldn't have changed for the world. During the twins' first year of school, Michael Dark II was sent to Azkaban for leaking secrets to outside sources. When summer came, Beatrix had no choice but to move in with Audrey. Bellatrix wasn't entirely sure which one this arrangement infuriated more, her sister or her mother. However, in order to entirely avoid her mother and her doting, Bellatrix began clinging to her sister in the same manner her mother clung to her. She spent an infinite number of hours with Beatrix in fear that she would just disappear one day and the pair of them, along with their siblings, built a playhouse where they stayed without the interference of their mother. Most of the time, they would sleep there.Over the course of her years at Hogwarts, Bellatrix's relationship with her sister regained its normality and her psychological demeanor balanced out. They heard numerous things from other family members such as Reynaud Chancelier, their cousin, being diagnosed with Anti-social disorder (something that didn't surprise them); Zoey McAdams, another Hogwarts student that Bellatrix was growing extremely jealous of because she was becoming Beatrix's best friend, turning out to be their cousin; and word of their father, Michael II, had been in fact a metamorphmagus--an ability that Beatrix (and not Bellatrix) had inherited. However, the normal traits of the Dark family showed through more and more with each progressing year and Bellatrix's relationship with her mother worsened until, at last, they had it out entirely and her mother called her a "filthy, rotten lunatic" that Bellatrix took as nothing short of the highest compliment a person could give her. This only seemed to enrage her mother more and once again, the woman threatened to have them all locked up, but Bellatrix in turn assured Audrey that she would place an irreversable curse on her that made her the ugliest woman in the world if she touched her or any of her siblings. That was during their summer after their fourth year and this year, Bellatrix is going to try her damnedest to not return to her mother's house at all costs. How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Bellatrix is ambitious in a different way. She does not have any personal goals except to graduate Hogwarts and get herself and her twin sister, Beatrix, out of her mother's hands for good. She has her own tastes for fashion yet she does not wish to become a fashion designer or model or anything that her mother would want her to become. Instead, Bellatrix wants to work underground. Nothing illegal, persay, but since she is a behind-the-scenes sort of girl, she would rather take up the Crew position rather than the Cast (the opposite of her sister). Running a small-time business in Knockturn Alley sounds like a good idea, selling items on the black market, or perhaps playing the agent to her sister if she ever becomes a Quidditch Star sound like ideal careers for Bellatrix. Then again, occasionally, she would like to share the spotlight with her sister to ensure that people see her sister isn't the only person with the trendy taste in fashion.Writing Sample: "Red One, Konvict. GaGa, oh-oh, eh."The Three Broomsticks had been hosting karaoke for wizarding folk as a try-out to see how popular it would be for younger people. So far, a number of Hogwarts students had been permitted to attend with the supervision of a staff member and since the microphone was free, Bellatrix Dark had claimed it (by muttering a threat to jinx a third year's cat if they didn't back off) and danced carelessly to the beat of the music."I've had a little bit too much. All of the people start to rush, start to rush by. How does he twist the dance? Can't find my drink, oh man! Where are my keys? I left my phone. What's going on on the floor? I love this record baby, but I can't see straight anymore! Keep it cool, what's the name of this club? I can't remember, but it's alright, a-alright, just dance!"As the music picked up, she started dancing and tilted her head down so that her long, black hair that had been streaked with bright green highlights flew everywhere. Her hips jolted left and right, back and forth with the rhythm of the music while her body itself pumped up and down; she was letting loose with the help of several beers."Just dance. Gonna be okay. Da-doo-doo-doo. Just dance. Spin that record babe. Da-doo-doo-doo. Just dance. Gonna be okay. Duh-duh-duh-duh. Dance. Dance. Dance. Just dance!"There was a giggling from two tables back that stopped Bellatrix dead in her dancing. She glared menacingly at them and the two Hufflepuff girls went dead silent. It was easy to shake off with the promise that she would get them back later. Being the way that she was, her mind pushed the thought out and she relaxed even further. For the rest of her turn, the black-haired Dark twin sang passionately and surprised everyone with how good of a voice she had.Sum up your character in one paragraph: Bellatrix is absolutely mad. She is happy-go-lucky one minute and throwing temper tantrums the next. Whereas she will curse or jinx anyone who annoys her, contradictingly, she will cast a defensive spell for her siblings against the darkest wizard known to man if it means saving their lives. Her confusion from the divorce of her parents spurred a hatred for the both of her parents that seems to be vented through her clingyness to her twin sister, Beatrix. She is ambitious, but not overly-so as she simply wishes to show the world that she is not a person to expect things from and that is just as imperfect, "filthy", and insane as her twin and her father. Amongst her many woes, she ventured out into Hogsmeade one weekend and stumbled upon a white, long-haired cat with a wild case of heterochromia. A common superstition among Europe is that white cats are bad luck and this cat was no different: he tripped the store manager of Honeydukes and caused the poor man to break his left arm. She followed the cat around Hogsmeade for the rest of the weekend and, ultimately, took him back to the Slytherin Common Room. She named him Jinx.Personality: Not much is known about Jinx's personality other than he's the get-up-and-go sort of feline. He will be laying on a table one moment and then has disappeared from the entire common room the next. Disappearing is common with him. Like all cats, he is indifferent to the woes of those around him, lazy, and somehow mysterious the way he stares at a person...like he knows their secrets--or is waiting for something. Whether indifferent or not, he is the one who knows all of Bella's deepest darkest secrets, hopes, dreams, wishes, etc. and he is always around when she is in distress.Notes: Jinx truly is bad luck for everyone except his mistress. Those that are stared at for too long soon find themselves lost, late for class, or other strange "coincidences" that can be thought of as bad luck. Any who pet him suffer a minor injury within the week. Thus far, no one has dared to hurt him...but it would not be wise to push one's luck. On another note, Bellatrix has received frequent reports that her cat was seen in some pretty strange places like a teacher's office, stalking around the Hospital Hut, or in the Astronomy Tower. One rumor is that he was seen in the Hufflepuff Common Room!PatronusForm: CrowSymbolism: Carrier of Souls from Darkness into Light, Working Without Fear in Darkness, Guidance While Working in Shadow, Shapeshifter, Thief, Trickery, Boldness, Skill, Cunning, Single-Mindedness, A Bringer of Knowledge, Swiftness, Eloquence Skip to next post Re: Bellatrix Dark: Sixth Year Slytherin Reply #5 on March 06, 2012, 08:59:42 PM Character Worksheet[Name:] Bellatrix Antoinette Dark[Nickname:] Bella ("Bells" to her twin sister Beatrix)[Age:] Sixteen[Height:] 5'3"[Ethnicity:] Welsh/French[ ] Male [X] Female[Clothing Style:] Rebellious and expressive, now with lots of color![Hair Color:] Platinum blonde, occasionally with light blue streaks.[Hairstyle:] Long and straight. Usually, she keeps it down, but for classes she likes to wear pigtails or double buns.[Eye Color:] Light blue, often cold and harsh.[Eyewear:] None.[Complexion:] Fair and clear.[Weight/Bodyshape:] Small like her sister, but more assertive. She has beater's arms which are well-muscled and her body has its proper curvature. Though, admittedly, her twin's chest is one or two inches bigger.[Emotional Level:] Chaotic. She can jump from one end of the spectrum to the other in the blink of an eye. She has been known to fire jinxes at the first thing that moves when she's in a foul mood which was always. Nowadays, however, she's more relaxed and happier.[Occupation:] Student at Hogwarts[Income:] Summer job (2009); didn't get much[Location:] Spellpunk in Diagon Alley[Transportation:] Broom[Marital Status:] Single[Children:] She doesn't think about that right now. Hasn't even kept a guy yet.[Family Information:] Daddy (Michael Dark II), Audrey Chancelier (mother), Michael Dark III (squib, older brother), Beatrix (twin sister), Erin Dark (younger sister)[Pets:] Jinx, the unlucky white Turkish-Angora. He brings bad luck to those around him (especially those who try to pet him or do harm to his mistress), leads his mistress on wild cat chases around the castle where she ends up talking to someone in an awkward sitaution, and disappears from the common room, reappearing in somewhere odd like the Astronomy tower or another house's common room.[Faction:] She doesn't have one yet.[Nemisis:] Audrey Chancelier (mother)[Why:] Bellatrix has a lot of enemies, but Enemy #1 is her mother. Why? Because it was Audrey who made Bella stay with her instead of letting the child go with her twin and father. It was Audrey that seperated Bella from the life that was rightfully hers, a life with Lil Bee and her dear Daddy Dark. It was Audrey that spewed forth insult after insult of Bella's beloved twin sister and dad. It was Audrey that she was forced to live with and endure the woman's proper nonsense for all those years. Now, it is Audrey that is her nemesis.[Interests:] Wrock music, the Dark Arts (not Unforgivable-level, just school-level jinxes and hexes), Quiddtich, transfiguration, cats, candy, and (secretly) a curiosity towards muggles.[Quirks/Vices:] Bellatrix has a load of quirks and vices. One major vice of hers is cracking her knuckles when she's tense or anxious/nervous. When she becomes too angry, her wand will already be in her hand and pointed at her target. Bellatrix's wand NEVER leaves her person. Cackling is her fake laugh, but her real laugh is a lot more bubbly. When in deep concentration of studying, Bella is commonly seen eating candies. She also gets defensive and aggressive if people see her cry.[Extra Information:] Bellatrix's reputation as a bully and a "psychotic, jinx-happy" Slytherin precedes her. She has kept up the image for three years (since the middle of her 3rd year) and only two people have seen the full, true Bella: her twin Beatrix and Peyton--though, Peyton has only seen some of her real self. Also, Bella's affectionate name for her twin is "Lil Bee" which is curious since Beatrix is older than Bella.[Avatar:] Taylor Momsen[Favorite Music Style:] Wrock![Band:] The Weird Sisters[Favorite Place to Visit:] Holyhead, Wales; Spellpunk in Diagon Alley[Favorite Book:] Curses and Counter-curses (Bewitch Your Friends and Befuddle Your Enemies with the Latest Revenges: Hair Loss, Jelly-Legs, Tongue-Tying, and Much, Much More) by Vindictus Viridian[Why:] The music: because it "frees her soul" and releases her anger. The book? Because it's taught her a number of useful jinxes, hexes, and curses since her second year at Hogwarts.[Best Friend:] Beatrix Dark AND Peyton Wentworth[Why:] Lil Bee is her twin and confidante. Bella comes to Lil Bee with all her thoughts, overwhelming feelings, etc. Peyton is the most fun guy who she doesn't have to worry about falling in love with. They can talk Quidditch, boys, music, and everything![Favorite Number:] 8[Favorite Food:] Dragon Ribs & "Blood" Sauce[Least Favorite Food:] Treacle Tart, Boulliabase[Allergies or Physical Handicaps:] [ ] Yes [X] No[What:] --[How Long:] --[Chemical Dependency:] [ ] Yes [X] No[Criminal Past:] [ ] Yes [X] No[Educational Level:] She is in her 6th year at Hogwarts.[Oddest thing that has ever happened to her:] It's happened twice now: following Jinx into a private area and ending up in an awkward conversation with someone.[Personal goal yet achieved:] Not crying in front of her ex-boyfriends and managing to make one of them extremely green with envy at a ball. She plans to do it again this year.[Most afraid of/Boggart:] Bella's boggart would be herself. Herself looking like her mother, alone and unwanted, a nasty person that nobody likes.[Why:] Because Bella is always afraid that she will turn out to be as "perfect" as Audrey used to say she was. The kind of "perfect" that is gorgeous, wanted by many men, famous, and yet has no one close because she was a right foul git that pushed everyone away.[Patronus:] A Crow. The Crow represents the Carrier of Souls from Darkness into Light, Working Without Fear in Darkness, Guidance While Working in Shadow, Shapeshifter, Trickery, Boldness, Skill, Cunning, Single-Mindedness, A Bringer of Knowledge, and Swiftness, [Greatest Strength:] Her steady hand and quick reflexes, conviction and determination to go through with what she has decided. Her resolve does not falter.[Greatest Weakness:] The ability to connect with others on a personal level. Relationships, basically. She can be so aggressive that people don't want to be around her. Also, the reputation she has built over the past 3 years has become a cage that she has trapped herself in and cannot get out of.[Where does character see herself in 10 years:] In a Wrock Band, having constant contact with her twin sister and dad. Perhaps with her own fashion line that out-sells her mother's.[Musically Inclined:] [ ] No [X] Yes[What Instrument:] Her voice. Bellatrix can focus all of her feelings, both good and bad, into her singing and it comes out loud, passionate, and smooth.[Biggest Regret/Mistake:] Not running away to live with her dad when she had the chance.[Why:] Because if she had done so, she would have been with her twin sister and her dad from the get-go and might have had a happy childhood.[Special Talents:] Singing, dueling/jinxing people, transfiguration. While she's not a Metamorph like her twin and father, Bellatrix has top-notch Transfiguration skills.[Any Family Traditions:] [ ] No [X] Yes[What Are They:] Bellatrix has inherited a golden necklace from her mother, as is customary. She's tossed the thing in an old jewelry box full of tacky jewelry her mother used to buy her.The Dark Manor also goes to the eldest child. Her father doesn't count their squib brother Mikey, so the manor will soon go to Beatrix. Bella is quite happy about it!Credit to Annie's profile for this! She said I could use it. Re: Bellatrix Dark: Slytherin Fifth Year Reply #4 on January 19, 2011, 03:46:54 AM MiscellaneousName: JinxSpecies: Long-haired Turkish Angora (suspected to be part Kneazle, but unproven)Gender: MaleStory: Bellatrix's toad, Duke, died in her 5th year. One rumor is that he was seen in the Hufflepuff Common Room!PatronusForm: CrowSymbolism: Carrier of Souls from Darkness into Light, Working Without Fear in Darkness, Guidance While Working in Shadow, Shapeshifter, Thief, Trickery, Boldness, Skill, Cunning, Single-Mindedness, A Bringer of Knowledge, Swiftness, Eloquence Skip to next post
Re: Bellatrix Dark: Sixth Year Slytherin Reply #5 on March 06, 2012, 08:59:42 PM Character Worksheet[Name:] Bellatrix Antoinette Dark[Nickname:] Bella ("Bells" to her twin sister Beatrix)[Age:] Sixteen[Height:] 5'3"[Ethnicity:] Welsh/French[ ] Male [X] Female[Clothing Style:] Rebellious and expressive, now with lots of color![Hair Color:] Platinum blonde, occasionally with light blue streaks.[Hairstyle:] Long and straight.
