[Oct 31] Tinker, Tailor, Wizard, Liar? on February 24, 2010, 11:24:06 AM October 31stTinker, Tailor, Wizard, Liar?by Rita SkeeterMany of you will remember my story on the poor, misunderstood Ravenclaw fifth year by the name of Sasha Schlagenweit. This defenceless, shy and introverted boy was just trying to get through life, pass his wizarding exams and find some fatherly love.We were all wrong. An ulterior motive was playing at hand in this; this young boy is sneakier than we all thought. Have you ever heard of a boy who lies to his parents about being a wizard? No? Well now you have. How is it even possible, to go through five years of schooling at the most famous magic school in the world, and your parents not know about it?A young woman by the name of Jacoba Schlagenweit has just entered the wizarding world for the first time, after finding out that her younger brother was in fact a wizard. On speaking to her, she had this to say about the situation;“My parents have been under the impression that Sasha has been attending Appenzell School for the Elite in Switzerland for the last five years. I’m not entirely sure who helped him in the first instance, though I know that Dreogan Eleor has been helping him lately.”Dreogan Eleor is a Ministry official, Head of the Office for Near East Relations, in the Department for Magical International Cooperations. He is also the older brother of auror, Adon Eleor, who has been revealed to have helped his brother in this situation. One does question the reason that two such authoritative figures in the Ministry would help a young boy to lie to his parents.Jacoba Schlagenweit also added this; “My parents will kill him when they find out. Or they’ll disown him – one of the two. They are strict, and if they found out he had magical abilities they would be crushed. Even more so that he lied to them. You can guarantee they’ll cut off all of his contact with the wizarding world.”One should also consider the fact that it was Knox Greyfriar who was headmaster of Hogwarts throughout Master Schlagenweit’s first four years. Clearly, Mr. Greyfriar was happy to let this sort of abysmal behaviour carry on under his watch. Or maybe he instigated it? But I know that if I had a child, I would want to know their whereabouts at all times. But consider this, friends; yes, Sasha Schlagenweit has been lying to his family about being a wizard. And for that, we may feel sorry for him. But he is also lying to us, the wizarding world, the people who took him under our wing and nurtured him. Is it not an insult to our kind that he should feel ashamed to tell his family what he is? Do we not feel betrayed by this? I personally feel like I have been lied to in malice. After my last interview with him, I felt as though this boy was a misunderstood young man, who’s biggest problem was finding a father who would love him for himself. Now, it seems there are larger things complicating his life as a wizard. Things he wasn’t even willing to share with us: his own kind. The question is, will the new Headmistress Analiza Snark stand for this sort of behaviour, or will she insist that Master Schlagenweit’s parents are informed of their son’s abilities?
