Werewolf Attack in Diagon Alley by Niobe Thursby
LONDON - In the early hours of October 2, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement reports that a werewolf attacked Claudia Vespucciano. Vespucciano is a high level aide to Minister of Magic Marcus Annwyl. Fortunately, with the moon still just a sliver, waxing cresenct, the werewolf (name withheld pending investigation) was not in his human form.
Vespucciano was not injured, thanks to the efforts of Minster Annwyl's personally selected werewolf recaputre agent Vane Hendric.
The werewolf was subdued and arrested by Aurors who arrived on the scene shortly after Hendric and his trainee Ciarra Belisario neutralized the threat.
Werewolf psychologist Maya Irene-Strangely informs us that, "some witches and wizards afflicted with the lycanthrophy curse are constantly prone to feral, violent urges. Most coping with this curse reject the condition and these urges remain unwanted. But in individuals who have for whatever reason found cause to enjoy their curse succumb frequently to violent, werewolf-like behavior even when not under the affects of a full moon."
Madam Irene-Strangely went onto give a famous example of murderer-werewolf Fenrir Greyback who was as dangerous any night of the month as under a full moon.
"It is extremely important that all afflicted with the werewolf curse register with the Ministry of Magic in order to receive counselling and psychic services to cope with their condition," Madam Irene-Strangely advises.
Minister of Magic Annwyl is expected to elaborate on the role of Hendric in a press conference later this week.
