Your Nickname: Zira.
Have you read and do you agree to the Code of Conduct & Guidelines?: Yuuuup.
How did you find us and decide to write with us? The lovely and vivacious Mairead.
If you have written other characters here, list them all: Erin Harper, Hannah Harper, and Landis Morgan.

Full Character Name: Michael Malcolm Dark II.
Character Birthday & Age: November 21st, 1966, 42 years old
City & Country of Birth: Holyhead, Wales
Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn?: Pureblood
Alma Mater: Hogwarts
Occupation Ex-Azzie is all he can claim so far.

Type of Criminal: Traitor to the Ministry, WBA loyalist.

Allegiances / Loyalties / Political Faction: At this point, mostly himself, although I imagine eventually he’ll start looking for like-minded individuals. His old loyalties to the WBA will likely surface soon as well.

Previous Convictions or Crimes?:
Michael was caught passing information from his department at the Ministry onto an outside force. Unsurprisingly, he resisted arrest, going on a desperation and anger-fueled rampage. He killed three Aurors and injured two others before he was captured, and after a quick trial was sent to Azkaban. He now has an additional murder charge for the Ministry scribe whom he killed during an interrogation and imitated in order to get past the human guards. Any other crimes he’s committed since escaping are unknown to the Ministry at this time.

What crimes might you commit in the future?  Discuss all possible: Whatever he might feel like doing, I’d think.

Are you currently under pursuit by the Ministry of Magic?: Yes, vaguely. They’re not entirely sure what happened to him, but by Merlin they’re looking for him.

Wand Description: Fortuitously, the Dark family home is full of ancestral relics and tokens, and so Michael is using his great-grandfather’s wand, which works quite well for him. It is 11 inches long, rigid, and made of African Blackwood- or at least, that’s what it looks like. Michael’s no wood expert. All that matters to him is that it works.

Of course, his own wand was snapped when he was incarcerated.

Physical Description: As a Metamorph, Michael can look like whomever or whatever he wants. But, generally, he falls back on tall, dark-haired, and striking. He often looks more hobo than handsome, but presumably if he’d get a shave and cut back on the crazy eyes he wouldn’t be too bad. When upset, his features can shift, and he’ll look more and more like the Azkaban escapee he is. Get him in a really bad mood, and suddenly you’ll be facing down a grinning hollow-cheeked man whose nose won’t stop changing shape and whose teeth seem to be getting alarmingly longer.

Clothes, however, he can’t transform, so right now he’s mostly wearing the old, musty robes he left behind decades ago when he and his wife moved to London.

Any odd/outstanding features?: …metamorph?

Personality Description: Michael is, quite frankly, insane. Azkaban has always been the breeding ground for suspicion, aggression, and despair; Michael, already hailing from a long line of inbred and sickening purebloods, was a quick learner.  He’s without the compunctions or considerations of most people, has very little empathy, frequent mood swings, and an extremely short temper. He’s an interesting mix of reckless and paranoid, unreasonable and calculating, and all the skills that let him spy for the WBA for so long without being caught are still there, if rusty. However, he’s incapable of making anything but short-term plans- after escaping Azkaban, he had only one desire, and that desire still drives him with the white-hot urgency of the single-minded. Michael wants to see his family, and especially his daughter Beatrix, who was always his favorite. He also would very much like to see his cheating, ex-wife Audrey… but for very different reasons. Azkaban knocked a few screws loose that had made him think before that perhaps killing his ex-wife instead of just divorcing her was a bad thing. It’s probably best for her if she could manage to avoid him.

History: Michael comes from a long, proud line of purebloods. And as their name would suggest, the Darks don’t always keep to the letter of the law. More importantly, the inbreeding has produced a propensity towards madness, Squibs, and other heredity problems. But on the other hand, such careful breeding has kept the line pure, forged strong alliances between family members, and made abilities like Michael’s metamorph ability possible. The Dark line still flourishes, but the idea of it dying out is just another reason to despise the mudbloods that flood wizarding society and drag it kicking and screaming towards their idea of “progress.” His personal history is about as dull as anyone else’s, and about as exciting too- besides the relatively mundane act of marrying, reproducing, and getting a job, he was the Dark patriarch and a spy in the Ministry. Spy, traitor, they’re such harsh words- and to this day, he’s never confessed exactly who he was passing these secrets onto. The Ministry would have loved to peg him for helping out the dying dregs of the Death Eaters, but Michael hasn’t touched anything like that since the Dark Lord was defeated. And if the Dark family helped Voldemort at all during his reign... well. No one’s been able to pin them with anything.

Fortunately, Dementors no longer guard Azkaban, but they left their aura behind. Their absence doesn’t keep it from being a place of despair and pain. Misery had soaked into every chilly stone, madness was commonplace, and there’s still the occasional scream. Contact with other prisoners was limited, but Michael quickly demonstrated the inadvisability of placing him in a cell or cafeteria with other people. And at the end of four years, he decided he’d had enough.

His escape was highly sensationalized, his pictures were everywhere, but fortunately Michael doesn’t have to look like his pictures. Now he’s hiding out in the Dark family home, which has been abandoned for decades when Michael and his then-wife Audrey moved to his London home long before he was ever called a traitor. Left to rot, the ancient house is all dust and silverfish, but Michael hasn’t made too many changes. He doesn’t mind the filth, and there are plenty of old artifacts up in the attic to keep him entertained.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Michael Dark has a lot of aggression, and a lot of hate. This is very unfortunate for the world at large, since at any moment he may decide to direct that aggression or hate towards a person merely because they prefer bananas to pineapples, or because they have blonde hair, or because they’re wearing the color red. Merlin forbid they be a muggle, or muggleborn. Logical, sane, these words mean nothing to him. Still, despite the meandering paths his mind often travels, Michael has a sharp eye and a sharper wit- Azkaban hasn’t destroyed the calculating man he once was, only made him more unstable. He is fiercely loyal to those he loves, but at this point that is a very small number. Beatrix Dark, his favorite daughter, can count herself lucky to be one of those few.

Michael Malcolm Dark II [Metamorphmagi]

Character Name: Michael Dark
List your other characters, if applicable: Not really applicable, but you can have them anyways: Landis Morgan, Erin Harper, and Hannah Harper.
Please provide a link to your Application: http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=4187.0
Age: 42
Special Ability: Metamorphmagi.
When did your character master this ability?  How long have they had it?: Michael was born with it, and although of course he experimented with it in his childhood, it wasn’t until he was in his late teens that he had the mental maturity to control it completely. I.E., his hair and facial features stopped changing color or shape unconsciously according to his moods.

How did they learn or hone this ability?:Well, again, born with it. It runs in his family- Michael’s grandmother had the ability as well, and her mother before her, and his great-grandmother's father, reaching back until the records were lost. So when Michael, only a few weeks old, began to display some of the characteristics of the gift, his family was thrilled. After all, traits such as this were a sign of blood kept pure by careful breeding. As a small child, Michael had little to no control over the color his hair changed or the way his nose looked. Usually, his moods dictated any changes in his appearance. As he got older- 7, 8, and 9- he got a better grasp on it. Still, as a boy he was only interested in it for the party tricks, for being able to turn his nose into a pig's snout or grow an extra inch on his arm to allow him to reach something dropped behind the dresser. If it hadn't been for his parents, Michael would have gotten a very late start on learning to hone his ability, but both his mother and father made him practice until he could change on command. Into his teens he finally developed a real interest in what he could do that nearly turned into an obsession, pouring through anatomy books, practicing for hours. By age 20 Michael Dark could not only shift his facial features or his coloring, but could manipulate his body into almost anything he wanted. Lost weight, gain weight, shoot up, become skeletal, big-boned, or fat- the only thing Michael can't do is turn himself into a woman. He can look mostly like one, big hips, narrow shoulders,  long hair, and a fine-featured face, yes, but Michael's hesitant to go about messing about downstairs, for fear he won't be able to change himself back. That sort of thing would take an understanding of female anatomy that he doesn't entirely have.

As he's gotten older and shifted out of his prime, his ability, like everything else about the body as it ages, has degenerated some. Still, Michael's a wizard with an increased lifespan, and so far there isn't a big difference. Azkaban, however, was hell on his ability, or rather, on his control of it. It takes a conscious effort to keep himself looking the same when his mood changes to any intense emotion like anger or joy; for the most part, he doesn't even try.

Describe how the Special Ability influences their life.  What do they use it for?: Well, this ability has proven paramount in Michael’s escape from Azkaban, and in his subsequent evading of Aurors and other Ministry workers to avoid capture. It is one of the things he shares with his daughter Beatrix, which Michael believes makes them even closer.

Write a description of what happens when your character is exhibiting this Special Ability:It’s really quite odd to watch. Michael is so experienced with it that he can even control the speed of his changing- usually it’s like watching the old features flow and shift into new ones, nothing particularly alarming if one if expecting it. If he’s agitated or rushed, it appears more like a flickering of images. And if he’s trying to gross someone out by shifting slowly- it happens- it could be described somewhat akin to watching putty being molded.
