It was Wednesday and it was before Lunch.  Kendall was starving already and that could only mean he was skipping meals trying to keep up.  Morrigan had best not find out he was using Pepper-up and nutrition potions to keep himself going this first month.

Now it was October and he was so far behind in lessons.  In fact he had completely skipped nearly an entire month of lessons with the 3rd and 5th years.  He had a lot of catching up to do. And here it was already the 15th of October.  Hopefully they had been reading in their texts.
Kendall was actually ready for this class.  Amazingly he had made it not only ahead of time, but was really prepared for once.

As the students began to trickle in, most amazed that their professor was actually in the classroom for the first time this term, they quietly took their seats.

"Before we begin" Kendall started, "I want to apologize for not being attentive to you as a class, but I hop we can make that up reasonably quickly.  There really is little time for review, so let's get started shall we?"

Kendall waved his wand at the door and it closed easily. "Now seeing as we will soon celebrate All Hallows Eve, I thought we might start with charms that will help you with having some fun, and perhaps a bit of Masqurade!" As Kendall spun his wand about his face, it was covered by a colorful mask with fancy plumes mounted upon it.  "Hmm better for Mardi Gras, but perhaps you don't know what Mardi Gras even is?"

Kendall then placed the mask on a desk in front of a young lady whose name he had already forgotten. "Alright the first charm I will teach you allows you to change your hair color.  The movement is a spiral over your head" To which Kendall demonstrated.  "And the incantation is Foliculus Chamilius."

Immediately Kendall's hair became striped like that of a clown, a stripe of blue, green and yellow running from the front to back.  "If you have the Latin for the color you want, replace chamilius with that color.  For example verdigris  is green in Latin."  The Slytherin's seemed to perk up at this announcement.

Continuing the lesson, Professor Fleetfoot then pointed his wand to his nose. "Next to enlarge your nose is Engorgio and Kendall's nose was suddenly more than three times its normal size. "This will also work on teeth, feet, hands.  However," Kendall's voice took on an authoritative tone "Not any other personal bits unless you want to spend a week at St. Mungos in the spell damage ward."
There was one more spell he was thinking of teaching, but the chances of it going wrong were just too high.  One mispronounced syllable and the effect would be permanent rather than temporary.  It was a charm he would just have to not share.

"Okay.  So go ahead and work out your 'costume' if you will for Halloween."  He saw the glee in their eyes. "Oh and then six inches of parchment on the negative effects of these spells when used against someone."

Blake settled into his seat and was eager for the day's lesson. For some reason, he had be en itching to use his wand of late and he hoped that Charms would offer him the opportunity to do so. So with his eyes glued to Professor Fleetwood, Blake waited with as much patience as he could muster.

When Fleetfoot mentioned Mardi Gras, Blake tried to contain his exuberance. He did know about the event but kept that to himself. As soon as the professor began talking of changing the color of one's hair, Blake already had in mind what color he'd change his to if given the opportunity. He silently searched his memory for the words of the two shades of blue he wanted to try. Even though he didn't say anything yet, he mimicked Fleetfoot's movement of making a spiral over his head. Finally, when it seemed okay to do so, he said, "Foliculus azureus!" to one side of his head of dark hair. Immediately, it turned sky blue. Then he made a swirl over his other side and incanted, "Foliculus caeruleus!" and it turned a dark, rich hue of blue. He turned to Cait who sat next to him and grinned. "How does it look?" He waited to see what she would do to her own hair and then looked around to the others in the class. Some of the color combinations were quite wild

Blake then turned to working on enlarging some of his features. He decided that a set of Dumbo ears might compliment the hair best. But Fleetfoot hadn't mentioned that as being a feature the spell would work on. Blake was tempted to just try it anyway, but the professor's warning about spell damage had him thinking twice. He raised his hand and waited to be called on before he asked, "Sir, can I enlarge my ears? Or is that a different spell?"

Ayla had been rather surprised by the fact that Professor Fleetfoot had actually been inside the classroom before they had entered it. The first month of school he had sauntered in after they had already taken their seats. Not that Ayla minded, it had given her ample time to socialize before the class began. Charms was one of the few classes she had that she felt was lax and comfortable. Professor Fleetfoot didn't assign too much homework and the work load in the lessons themselves was almost laughable compared to the other classes. It had felt as if he didn't even care about teaching them anything.

She smiled wide, her braces sparkling in the sunlight that came in. She was happy that they had been given not only a charm to try but more than one and free reign to use those as they saw fit. She thought about what she would do with the charms and how she would alter her appearance. When it came to Halloween Ayla had always preferred to go with being pretty than something scary or funny. That was one thing she missed about being back home this time of year - Trick or Treating. sure it was a muggle tradition but that didn't make it any less fun. Year after year she had gone out trick or treating with her friends always going out with the best costumes. Her father had always helped her make her costume. Her mother always turned a blind eye to her father using magic to make her costume.

Ayla had come up with an idea for what she had wanted to do. She picked up her faithful nine inch maple and circled her head first using a charm her father had used when they were younger, "Foliculus diutius." Her raven hair started to sprout out from her scalp making her normally pixie cut hair grow down to well past her shoulders. He glanced up at Professor Fleetfoot, she doubted he'd object to her using such a simple charm, even if he hadn't been the one to teach it to her. She had heard her father use it multiple times before. He had never had to use it on her before but her twin siblings were another story. Her brother had a habit of putting gum in her sister's hair. Her mother would cut it out and she would cry and cry until their father grew her hair back.

Ayla then repeated the swirling motion around her long flowing locks, "Foliculus croceus." The long lock turned a shocking bright shade of yellow. Ayla smiled as she ran her fingers through her now long hair to make sure she had gotten the right colour. She then put her hand out to admire her fingernails. They weren't polished and some of them were uneven. She pointed her wand at each one in turn, "Engorgio." One by one her nails grew to be about an inch long. She then handed her wand to her left hand wondering how well she'd do using her other hand to grow the nails on the right hand, "Engorgio." She was a little shaky but with patience she had been able to match the length of her nails on her left hand.

Kendall wandered the classroom watching the students play with there hair color, or the size of their hands, feet or noses.

"You best be careful about enlarging your nose or tongue.  Your tongue can get so long as to trip you, and well your nose... lets just hope no one gets a sinus infection hmm?"

When asked about the possibility to enlarge ears, Kendall smiled, "Oh yes ears work particularly well, but there is a slight side affect." Kendall crouched  and spoke very quietly, "you will be able to hear through walls."

As a professor he knew that it was not smart to just leave it at that, but then again this was Hogwarts. Mischief was what children got up to best!
