[Oct. 22nd] It's No Longer "You and Me" (Callum, PM)

(11:00AM -- Study Break)
[Outfit]

Beatrix Dark, being a Ravenclaw, was always studying and doing other nerdy activities. So, naturally, she was off to read in the library during the, well, study break. She was probably one of the few people who actually did that. And she was the only person trotting through the corridor. How lonesome. But, Beatrix didn't really care. Her alone time was pretty much always in the library. Or empty classrooms. She could recall countless times where she was interrupted, though. Whether it be Waker Nolan or Gavin Snark, it could be rather entertaining. Well, except Gavin was purposely trying to frustrate her. It definitely worked.

But no one was going to interrupt her now. She wouldn't let them! Especially someone like Snark. They would have to find another short, pink-haired weirdo to tease. Beatrix sighed and continued to stomp down the hallway, walking like a drunkard because she felt like it. No one was around to see it, anyhow. Even if there WAS someone around, she really wouldn't care. Beatrix was a free spirit! No one would hold her down!

Because everyone knew that Beatrix would slap them silly if they said one word about her being weird. Or, she would take it as a compliment. Either way, she'd anger and/or confuse a lot of people. Which was Beatrix's favorite pastime, practically.

With another swaggering step, Beatrix tripped and her books went flying. Ooh boy she was graceful. She definitely didn't see that coming. Bea knelt down onto her hands and kneels and began gathering her stuff, grumbling to herself strange pirate slang like she always did when she was angry.

The library, how he loathed the place! Callum was, unfortunately, a stickler for good grades. For some reason the rest of the world assumed he lacked any intelligence, even though his marks in class definitely did not seem to reflect that assumption. He worked hard to get decent grades, otherwise his parents would kill him. An education was a must, he was told, though he didn't understand why. He was set up to inherit everything and be a rich bachelor, why would he need a job? His parents had no answer for that, other than he was to do as they said or he would have no inheritance at all. It was the easy way out of the argument, really.

Still, study break wasn't for very long, now was it? Certainly he could stand that short time in the library. Perhaps he could actually get some work done, which would allow him more leisure time in the afternoon. That was, originally, the only pay off for his trip toward voluntary learning until a familiar figure caught his eye ahead of him. Callum could swear she had been nipping at the fire whiskey, the way she was staggering about- but chances were it was just Beatrix Dark being Beatrix Dark.

It wasn't long before her antics caused her to make a mess in the hallway. As she gathered her things he took the opportunity to catch up and position himself before her. "My, what a tasteful scene," he said, voice dripping in arrogant pleasure, "you bowing down before me. I could rather learn to like this sight. Have you learned your superiors then, Beatrix? I hardly thought you capable of it. Perhaps it goes to show even I can be wrong."

His code of honor was quite inconvenient at the moment, he thought. Here she was, in a position he could easily take advantage of- through hexing, cursing, or kicking her- but her lack of equipment wouldn't allow him to. Why had that been one of the few lessons that had stuck around? Callum had often wondered why, but never had been able to figure it out. He always wanted to hurt the girls who made him angry, but he just could not. Conditioning was what he had chalked it up to. Never would he admit to having a shred of decency in front of others. Sometimes decency made a person weak. Instead, it was propriety and conditioning which help him back.

It was also the propriety and conditioning which caused him to offer a hand. (It most certainly could be no lingering affection or longing for the past.) "Would you like some help, Beatrix?" he asked, but still made no move to actually help gather her things. If she rejected his offer, he would gladly refuse to follow through.

"My, what a tasteful scene,"

Beatrix froze quickly at the sound of that voice. Oh, lord. She knew who it was already without even having to look up. She sighed, almost relieved it wasn't someone worst that caught her in such a vulnerable position. As he continued on with his obnoxious speech, Beatrix finally looked up at him and directly in the eyes. She wasn't going to be afraid of him, no sir. He was no monster, he was just a very nasty, teenage boy.

"you bowing down before me. I could rather learn to like this sight. Have you learned your superiors then, Beatrix? I hardly thought you capable of it. Perhaps it goes to show even I can be wrong."

She rolled her eyes and continued to gather her papers. "Superiors? I have no superiors, thank you very much. I would spit at you, but you don't and deserve that from me." Beatrix snapped back, pausing from collecting her book and sending a glare towards him for an over dramatic effect. She was trying to show who was boss, after all. And she was making it clear that she believed she deserved that title.

"Would you like some help, Beatrix?"

Though she really tried to hide it, Beatrix began to giggle. Help her? As if Callum Knight would wish to help her. She finally gathered her stuff and stood up, adjusting herself and remaining completely arrogant. "What do you want from me, Callum?" She asked, sighing, "I don't have any money with me right now, so what else?" It was the only reason Beatrix could think of that Callum would actually ask if someone needed help.

"Yes, Callum. I would have liked help. Too bad all I got was you." Then her sickly sweet smile formed and she stuffed some loose parchment back into her book. Beatrix gave him another death stare and her smile faded, "But, really. What do you want? I sort of need to study and I don't really care to speak to you right now." One blow after another, at least Callum was a "man" and could take her insults.

Callum sneered at the comment that she had no superiors. Whether or not a name was respected meant nothing when you were a person like Beatrix. Weird. Different. And a complete disgrace to all of the things that any sort of true pureblood stood for. The sorts of things that he definitely wanted to fight for, were the things that Beatrix now seemed to stand against. Besides, if she spat on him, she'd regret it. Callum knew that was the real reason, but he chose to keep that comment to himself.

He scoffed when she mentioned money, and shook his head. "I don't take charitable hand outs, Beatrix. I don't need your money. I don't need anybody's money. I've my own money. Why, have you forgotten it was just my birthday? My parents sent me enough money to feed a filthy mudblood family for a year at least. It's nice to be rich." Callum wished he had the money to shake at her to prove it. Really, as if he would take money from anyone- let alone a girl. The only time he took money from anyone was when he decided to bully it out of them for the fun of it. It had nothing to do with whether or not he needed it. Stupid girl.

"Tsk tsk, Beatrix, rudeness doesn't suit you at all. It's rare that anything suits you these days though, isn't it? Quite the misfit you've become. Pity. To think you used to be worthy of association." He hadn't intended to stroll up and be mean to Beatrix, but sometimes it seemed that some people just asked for his scrutiny.

"I don't want anything from you," he told her. "I was just on my way through the halls. Last I checked I didn't need to have a specific destination or goal in mind in order to walk through the halls." Callum knew he should probably tone down the sarcasm and smart replies since Beatrix was a prefect, but really, he couldn't make himself stop once he got started. "I'm not skipping class, nor am I do anything else that I know of as a direct violation of school policy. So you needn't worry your ugly little head about it!"

Beatrix couldn't believe how much he was talking. SO much talking! He was basically a woman he was talking so much. And he was acting as if Bea herself wasn't rich. Beatrix just wasn't spoiled rotten like how Callum was. "Fantastic, Callum. That's fantastic." She said, sarcastically, and gave him a thumbs-up. She continued pulling her stuff together until it was in a neat little pile. Did he think he was impressing her? Making her jealous? Beatrix heard it all before, he was so full of himself.

"Tsk tsk, Beatrix, rudeness doesn't suit you at all. It's rare that anything suits you these days though, isn't it? Quite the misfit you've become. Pity. To think you used to be worthy of association."

There he was, talking again! Yapping away and boring the hell out of Beatrix! She pulled herself up to her feet and rolled her eyes, "Really, Callum? You used to be worth talking to, but now all you do is blabber about your money and how 'cooooool' you think you are." Beatrix smirked and crossed her arms over her chest, "To be honest, you were never worth anything. You just looked nice in your robes... But who am I kidding?" A malicious chuckle escaped her lips and she basically knew that the boy would probably clobber her because of all those insults, but she couldn't help it. It was just so worth it.

"I don't want anything from you,"

"I'm not skipping class, nor am I do anything else that I know of as a direct violation of school policy. So you needn't worry your ugly little head about it!"

Beatrix smiled and eyed around the hallway. She waited a moment before answering him (And ignoring his other sarcastic remarks), "Well?" Beatrix asked, snidely, "Then why are you still here?" Again, she gave him a devilish smirk. How long could he keep yapping, anyways? But, the ugly remark made Beatrix cackle, "And are you kidding me? Me, ugly? Please. Unlike you, my looks are perfected. Don't like it?" Beatrix let herself morph identically into Callum, only a lot shorter and wearing Bea's clothes, "I'm sure this isn't any better."

Another smirk formed on her (Or is it... His?) face. "Plus, if I'm so ugly, then why'd you date me, hm? It sure wasn't my personality." She laughed, knowing fully well that couldn't be the case. "Your insults all sound the same, sweetie. Perhaps it's time you got some more material." She bit her lip and chuckled some more.

"Well, if I look nice in my robes, that means I've got at least one thing that you don't," he retorted. "And I look nice without them." Callum believed that to be true. He'd had girls compliment him before, but it wasn't as if many had seen him completely unrobed. He just knew that he went to great pains to keep in shape and that he played quidditch- most of the time that was all it took. So many of his classmates were in that stage where they weren't quite men but weren't quite boys either. He looked like an adult. He liked that.

Callum ignored it when Beatrix transformed herself into him. "I'm on my way to the library, and I was going to attempt to be nice and help you with your things until you decided that you were going to treat me so poorly." Her impersonation of him was all wrong anyway. Callum was far more handsome. Although, he couldn't say he would mind if he suddenly grew a lady's chest. That could be fun for a while.

"And I dated you because it was the proper thing to do. You are a pureblood, I am a pureblood, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. All of us are prone to mistakes. Besides, that was before you went completely mental and turned into the school freak show, remember?"

He rolled his eyes when she insulted his insults. The Slytherin boy knew that even the most trite of insults could often have the strongest effects on people. Besides, Beatrix wasn't worth arguing with. When she started losing she would just babbling nonsense and come even further off her rocker. "I'm sure when you're married off to the proper pureblooded male that he'll wean you off the crazy. And, if he can't, he'll just shut you away some where so that you won't be a burden of society any longer or shame your family name and blood status... Or, if you marry outside of that, then you'll be ousted from my social circles indefinitely and that couldn't be too bad either."

"But, since we're still part of the same societal ring, I'll try once more to be ncie to you, Beatrix. Would you like help carrying your things so that you don't drop them again?" Even if he did dislike her, she was a pureblooded female. And even if he did call her ugly, he knew it wasn't entirely the case. It was just her hair. That was all. Besides, there was a small part of Callum that was actually raised properly- it was the part that treated women the way they should be (for the most part anyway).

"Well, if I look nice in my robes, that means I've got at least one thing that you don't, and I look nice without them."

Beatrix then pretended to gag. "Oh, gross." She shook her head, violently. It wasn't exactly something the girl wanted to hear from her ogre of an ex-boyfriend. Callum was cute. Was cute. But nowadays it was like he saw a picture of a troll and said "That is so hot". (Not necessarily true. Beatrix actually liked the big muscles on the Slytherin boy. It was merely his personality that was so hideous.) "Don't even try, Callum. We both know that I look fantastic in these robes." Her eyebrow quirked upwards.

"I'm on my way to the library, and I was going to attempt to be nice and help you with your things until you decided that you were going to treat me so poorly."

Beatrix set her hands on her hips and morphed herself back to her normal state. "Attempting to be nice, eh?" She chuckled and shook her head, "I'm sorry, Callum (Actually, no I'm not), but when have you ever been nice, hm?" Her cocky smile faded into a scowl. Callum would never be nice. He would never be helpful. And he'd never, ever be treated with respect by Beatrix Dark. She wouldn't even like his friends if it were for Bellatrix. Then again, it wasn't the fact that they were nasty, no... It was just that Callum was a nitwit, a pompous tramp, and not to mention he was an unfaithful bastard.

So. Much. Talking. Beatrix rolled her eyes once more, "Shame my family name?" A small smirk formed on her lips, "I'm a Dark, okay? What's there to ruin, hm? In fact, I'm currently ruining my family name simply by being me." She swallowed hard. Beatrix Dark was probably the sanest Dark in history. Though that wasn't saying much, her "goodie-goodie" status was worrying her loved ones. "And if you're saying I'd ruin my husband's name..." Beatrix frowned. No one ever wanted a Dark in their family, anyways. "Shut up, Callum. Most girls marry for love, anyways. That must really suck for you." Oh yeah, she went there. It wasn't that bad of an insult, but telling Bea that her future husband would lock her away... Telling her she shamed her family name and status? The boy deserved a punch in the face.

"But, since we're still part of the same societal ring, I'll try once more to be nice to you, Beatrix. Would you like help carrying your things so that you don't drop them again?"

All Beatrix had to really do was stop walking like a moron. But Beatrix didn't feel like admitting such a thing to the boy. "Sure." She sighed, taking a step back from him. She wasn't sure if it was a trick or not, but she wasn't taking any chances. She had a wand in one pocket and a switchblade in her bag. Even though she wasn't sure how to use the blade yet... Another step back and she muttered "Thanks, by the way".

Callum chuckled quietly when she stated she looked fantastic. If she was a bit more normal, it was true, she would look nice. Neither she or her twin were incredibly unattractive, but there was only so much crazy that he could handle. Beatrix's level of crazy was a few hundred levels higher than he could tolerate. Women were crazy by default, he'd learned that already, but most could see reason once in a while. Beatrix and Reason, however, did not even dwell in the same universe.

"Girls marry for love?" he quirked a brow. Now there was an idea. He knew that his sister wouldn't be. His mother and father were already talking to multiple families about marrying her off into them. "Well, all the girls I associate with don't, and if they do, they better love a pureblood or they get disowned. You know how all that mess works, don't you Beatrix? Your mother and father choose which family they want to be connected to, and then they sell you for societal reasons to whoever makes the best bid." He wouldn't be a part of that. Callum would choose his wife. She would be a pureblood, naturally, but he wanted a woman who was gorgeous and easy to boss around. Callum didn't want some mousy, plain looking girl who could challenege him.

Finally, Beatrix saw things his way. He took her things from her, and put on his most charming smile. Sometimes Callum could be nice, it just wasn't very often. "I'm glad I can help," he stated in response to her thank you. It was hard to bite back all the rude, inappropriate comments he wanted to say to her instead.

"How have classes been going?" Typical small talk. It was what you always asked someone you didn't talk to on a regular basis. His classes were well, but his classes were always going well, though. "Are you nervous about your OWLs?" He was, although Callum would never admit it to anyone. Sometimes he didn't do so well with tests, his mind had a tendency to go blank. That was why he tried so hard on his assignments, to make up for brain farts he got when he was testing. That, and so that his parents wouldn't kill him. They were already living with Harold and Darren for performing poorly. He, Blake, and his little sister did well- but Aggie never got fussed at for anything. She was the perfect little princess.

Bea's brow quirked when he laughed at her. He wouldn't have laughed at that before. Well, maybe. Funny how times had changed... But she wasn't going to yell at him simply for being Callum. Even though that was basically all she yelled at him about. He was still funny at least. She laughed every time he made fun of Fergie. Or if he cornered an annoying third year. However, his awful narcissism and closed-mindness made Beatrix gag.

Beatrix was now getting too bored and angry to even argue with him. However, what he said was true. A pureblood better love a pureblood else the world would implode around them. Lucky for Beatrix, that wasn't a problem. She was naturally attracted to purebloods. Arrogance is just oh-so attractive. "Yes, I know what you mean. However, I don't believe the Chanceliers wanted any connections with the Darks," Beatrix told him, matter-of-fact. Not many people liked dipping into the Dark blood, but luckily there was always that one nutso pureblood that didn't care. "But my mother at least loved my dad. Too bad she's a harlot," Beatrix shrugged. Too bad Beatrix looked so much like her mother.

She didn't exactly remember anyone selling anyone else for being a blood traitor, though. Callum Knight was so full of himself.

"I'm glad I can help,"

Liar, Beatrix bit her tongue and began trotting along the larger student. She was certain he wanted something from her now. And she could assure him that booty calls were out of the question. However, as she studied the boy's smile, she couldn't see any of those intentions inside him. Then again, he could be rather unpredictable. Beatrix didn't know if she liked that or not. On one hand, being boring was boring. On the other, who cares about Callum Knight? Sure, Beatrix couldn't stand the guy sometimes, but she wasn't the one who went behind the other's back.

Beatrix Dark had a heart. And Callum Knight, the stupid ogre, definitely stabbed it repeatedly because of what he did. Even though technically Beatrix would be dead if that really happened.

"Are you nervous about your OWLs?"

"No, not really," Beatrix murmured. He would know about her classes, he was in practically all of them. "There's always those moments, though, where I have my doubts... But we're all like that sometimes," she added, not exactly knowing why she was talking to Callum like he was a normal person. "And what about you?" She asked, politely enough. She could hardly remember if Callum was smart or not. She wanted to say 'No', but Beatrix's assumptions were always her just being rude.

She gently pulled a hand through her hair and glanced over at him again. What was wrong with that guy? "Are you sure you don't want anything from me, Callum?" She asked, again trying to be polite, "No offense, of course, it's just..." She wasn't used to him being nice to her, of course. He hadn't been nice to her since... Well... Their third year, of course. "Weird," she shook her head and attempted to walk like a normal person. She also attempted not to think of ways to piss him off. Like by biting him. Or telling him his head looked like a deformed orange. Insults weren't needed at that moment, nor was being insane.
