Might have waited to write -- don't sweat / presents still coming -- but, I am back in London! & did want to touch base. 

Nathan and I are hoping to hear soon how the sorting went, and how the year in general is panning out.  Do you love or loathe it, we wonder?  Betting you're years ahead of the rest, yeah?  Don't have to suffer a nonce -- if you need me to nix some folk, just say so.  & if you ever want, I can show you some little tricks with a kettle & flame.

Summer spent on islands for me.  Sorry we couldn't keep you.  Not sure your mum would let you out to watering holes with Nate.  Course if you like, mum doesn't have to know it all....  At any rate, have any plans for all Hallow's Eve?  Let us know if you want a special birthday spoiling then.  It is off to Hogsmeade that week's end, I believe.  & We will as ever go overboard for you.  Let us know, then. 

Write back if you fancy -- auntie Daz was sealed inside a cave working on a doozy of a potion last 3 & a 1/2 moons.  Catch me up, yeah?

My dearest Dazmond, sorry I have not written you sooner. Would it be silly to say life has been ever so hectic? After all what can a little first year get caught up doing? Anyway, my deepest apologizes to you for not replying or sending word sooner.

As it would not be surprising I have been sorted into Slytherin, and have been striking terror into many hearts since my arrival. I believe I have frozen some with my icy stares. My friend collection is small, as would be expected, but my auntie is the best friend of them all. Eirene is drifting to the wrong crowd, the Hufflepuffs. I have of course made important new connections, Aglaia Knight and Elias Gates. They will be incredible assets to my inevitable world domination.

Onto a more important manner, the holidays are around the corner and as usual my parents are taking their week in the south of France. I am making the choice to not travel with my parents as usual; the South of France area never does me well. I was wondering if I could impose on you for that period of time? Please reply when you can with your reply.

Thank you for writing darling!  Good to hear that you're having fun at the castle.  It's understandable that you'd be busy now, first year is a time when you should be feeling everything out and learning the ropes of how things work.  No need to apologize.

I would of course be happy to have you with me during the holidays.  Just let me know where and when to pick you up.

There is strength in keeping only a small base of friends.  Know who you can trust to keep close and, wisest is to avoid superficial floozies.

Anyway, I've got to be going but, I do look forward to seeing you soon, Effie.  Good luck with your end of term tests!
