[October 6] A Healer's Guide to Love and Life [two-part special] on December 20, 2009, 12:11:37 PM October 6th, 2008A Healer's Guide to Love and Life: Part IRita SkeeterIn light of the recent events surrounding the untimely death of Miranda Elliot, one of the pillars of St.Mungo’s, various scandalising tid-bits of information have been accumulating regarding her life, loves and laughter. The name that seems to keep cropping up is Jason Marren, Healer-In-Charge of the Creature-Induced Injuries ward at the same hospital. It will come as no surprise to anyone that the two knew each other, nor would it really be a shock that they were good friends. She had been his mentor while he was a student healer. She had helped him grow as both a person and as a member of their professional body.Though now, we know, that was not all she helped him with. Jason Marren’s marriage to the book-hunter, Fiona Marren recently broke down after it was revealed that he had been having an affair with Miranda Elliot for many months. Mister Marren blamed it on the lack of time his wife spent with him and their young son – he claimed that he was desperate to feel the close, tender love and care that is felt between two individuals that are attracted to each other.Though he claims the affair only lasted months, I fear there is little doubt in anyone’s mind that for two people who worked so closely together for so many years, the attraction must have started somewhere. The question that remains is how long had he been trying to hide his attraction for the beautiful, elder healer? And more importantly, how is he going to deal with the fact that she is now no longer around? He has lost two important women in his life in a very short space of time.Well, Jason. There's room next to me if you want to take a seat. I may not be a healer but I can make it all better. Clearly he has felt a deep loss here; an old friend and ex-lover lost her life, and he must – in some ways – feel responsible for that. Perhaps she was off her game for some reason when the tragedy at the hospital took place. Had he broken their affair off? Had he told her there was someone else? Had the guilt simply consumed him? Whatever the circumstances, it would appear that all was not normal the day she died. An anonymous source from St.Mungo’s stated that Ms. Elliot was ‘unusually distracted’ on the day of the incident, and made a few minor errors in paperwork that was completely uncharacteristic. But now, it seems he has moved on. Both from his divorce and the death of Miranda Elliot. Mister Marren has been spotted recently with Samia St.James, third child and eldest daughter of Elliot and Cadence St.James, and granddaughter of the infamous Alexander St.James II, pureblood supporter and one who rallied support for both Grindelwald and Voldemort alike. One source stated he had seen Miss St.James entering Jason Marren’s London apartment with a bottle of wine in hand only one week ago, a week after the death of Miranda Elliot, fuelling further suggestion that the two are an item. The St.James family are perhaps one of the most well-known pureblooded families in Wizarding England, though not much is known about Miss Samia St.James, the wallflower alchemist and Ravenclaw alumni, except for the well-documented marriage to Thomas Grosvenor. This match of blood was pushed from both sides, and was accepted by both parties. Though the couple very quickly dropped off the radar.‘What happened?’ I hear you cry. After a mere two years of marriage, Thomas Grosvenor left the St.James girl for another woman when their son was only two weeks old. Shocking. Scandalous. That, however, is not the worst of it; the woman he left her for was her own good friend, a friend who had been there from their early days as Ravenclaws. To say that this woman was devastated would be an understatement. Left to look after a newborn baby with just a note on the table for comfort and no knowledge of where her husband had gone or whether he would return, she could be forgiven for allowing herself to be swallowed into the background. One does wonder, however, whether Miss St.James knows of Mister Marren’s sordid past. If she does, is she willing to let her guard down to someone who has been caught being unfaithful? If not, then clearly he has not been truthful from the start, and is therefore no better than her ex-husband himself. Skip to next post
