RaynorActa non verba -- Actions Not Words
'Raynor' derived from 'Raginhari' means 'Council or Mighty Army' Recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086, the Raynor line was already well established in Herefordshire, England during the eleventh century. In that County, in the countryside between the cities of Hereford and Leominster, the Raynor Manor still stands as the ancient and historic family home. The line is believed to have originated from the Anglo-Saxon Regenhere, son of Raedwalk, King of East Anglia, which is now modern day Norfolk and Suffolk Counties. Regardless, the Raynors were able to trace wizarding origins as far back as records show.
The Raynor Family was well renown in the Wizarding world and by the Local muggle population and flourished for several centuries in Herefordshire as Lords and Ladies of their estate, intermarrying with other established and noble pureblood lines. While the Raynors coexisted peacefully with their muggle neighbors, the proud family were noteable purists and supremacists and held little tolerance for muggle infiltration of the Wizarding World. Mingling with "lesser" blood was inexcusable and marriages were often arranged for the sake of pureblood lineage.
In the twentieth century, the Raynors were an aristocratic and extremely wealthy family that socialized with the higher tiers of wizarding society, often producing affluent socialites and Ministry officials. However, having clung greedily and narrow-mindedly to their pureblood beliefs, the Raynor surname was a dying one. With less and less pureblood marriages occurring and a continual lack of male heirs, the Raynors were a struggling breed by the 1970s.
During the First War the dwindling Raynors refused to join Lord Voldemort and his cause and were annihilated in early 1979 as Blood Traitors. Today, Tamis Raynor survives as the last pureblood bearing the Raynor surname, and, as she is not male, will serve as the last of the wizarding Raynor line.
