The Snark family originates in Hungary as the name Szynarski. It was changed back in the Mid 1800's when one branch of the family moved from Hungary to Great Britain. Due to the difficulty of the name, it was changed to "Szynark" and finally "Snark" by the early 1900's. It is only used by the English Snarks, as the original spelling is still used by those in Hungary.

Unlike most Pureblood families, most of the Szynarksi's and Snark's have come to terms with the fact that purebloods are dying out and have accepted this fact. By the year 2000, most of the Szynarski's are half-bloods. The English Snarks are one of the few remaining with Pureblood members.

Mortimer Reginald Snark

●  b. Feb. 2nd, 1913 - d. Feb. 13, 1975 @ 62 y.o ● Pureblood. Alumni of Hogwarts, Gryffindor ●  Former Healer for St. Mungos as well as Muggle Doctor. ● Parents are Gordon Snark and Charlize Gates. Eldest of 4 siblings: Bartholemew, Alexandria and Camille. ● Husband to Lauralee Smythe. Father to Maximilian and Gustavarius Snark. Mortimer's family was ostracized as blood traitors when Mortimer chose to attend a muggle college for a medical degree, marry a muggleborn witch and enlist in the British Navy as a doctor in WW2. He met his wife Lauralee Smythe during the middle of the war when she cared for him after being wounded. He was honorably discharged for the wound in 1941. Unbeknown  to him, it would result in the heart condition that would kill him later in life. He settled down in Bayswater, UK with his wife and begin working as a Healer at St. Mungos. When his wife died in 1955, he became very depressed and lost his job as a healer because of it. Soon after, he managed to save his son Max from committing suicide, but not before permanent brain damage was done. When magic was unable to cure him, Mortimer was forced to stick him in an asylum and decided to separate from the wizarding world. He begin working as a Muggle doctor and continued until he passed away.He died in 1981, shortly before his 59th birthday, from a heart condition caused by shrapnel he contracted during the war.

Lauralee Marie Snark, nee Smythe

● b. May 23, 1920 - d.  July 10, 1955 @ 35 y.o ● Muggleborn. Alumni of the Salem Witches Institute. ● Former actress in the London Theatre ● Parents are Robert Smythe and Elisabeth Grimes. Youngest of 3 siblings: Richard and Tabitha Smythe. ● Wife to Mortimer Snark. Mother to Maximilian and Gustavarius Snark. Lauralee grew up in Bronx, New York to a construction worker and a librarian. Her Irish catholic father was against her going to SWIM, but her mother managed to convince him. She graduated from Ptolemy house with honors. She was always a very theatrical girl and wanted to be an actress so she started attending NYU for theatre. When WW2 broke out she put her plans aside and joined the red cross as a nurse. She met Mortimer Snark when he was wounded in 1941 and they bonded over being wizards. When he was honorably discharged soon after, she would quit and move to London to be with him. They would marry when she was 3 months pregnant with their first son. After Max was born, she begin working as an understudy in the London Theatre. Except for when Gustav was born in 1946, she would remain at this job until she was diagnosed with Dragon Pox in 1954. She would die a year later in 1955, leaving behind a depressed husband and a suicidal son.

Maximilian Gordon Snark

● b. Oct. 4th 1941 - d.  March 10th, 1995 @ 54 y.o ● Half-Blood. Attended Hogwarts as a Slytherin for 4 years before he was committed ● Parents are Mortimer Snark and Lauralee Smythe. Eldest of 2 siblings: Gustavarius Snark. Max was conceived shortly after his father was honorably discharged in his mothers care and was 3 months in when they were married. He was always a quiet and shy child who worried his parents with his reclusive ways, but was also very bright. He excelled in potions and by his 3rd year (He started late due to his late birthday), he was able to make potions that most wizards couldn't do unless they were masters. He had a bright future but was driven to a deep depression when his mother died in 1955, between his 3rd and 4th years. He blamed himself for not making his own cure and tried to kill himself with a homebrewed poison. His father found him and managed to make him take a bezoar, but while he lived, he was mentally never the same. He then started to lash out at others at school and was kicked out. His rage became almost homicidal and when the Healers couldn't cure him, his father committed him to St. Mungos permanent ward. He lived there until 1995 when he died from the long term effects of the poison.

Gustavarius Reginald Snark

● b. Jan. 3rd 1946 - d.  May 1998 @ 52 y.o ● Half-Blood. Alumni of Hogwarts, Gryffindor House ● Former Auror for the MoM ● Parents are Mortimer Snark and Lauralee Smythe. Youngest of 2 siblings: Maxamilian Snark. ● Husband to both Gizella Osterdike and Grace Mulciber. Father to Analiza, Aurelia, Augustus and Gavin Snark. The younger of the two Snark sons, Gustav was 9 when his mother died and didn't take it the same way Max did. Despite his brothers attempts to harm him before his admittance to Mungos, Gustav was always a strong and well-adjusted boy. He would attend Hogwarts as a Gryffindor like his father and excel in wand work. When he graduated he would join his best mate Omar St. Murfordt as an Auror. In March of 1969, he met Gizella Osterdike in Amsterdam when he saved her from a speeding car. The two were convinced they were soul mates and would marry only a couple months later. He quit the Aurors to move to Haarlem with her and stayed there until 1973 shortly after his twin daughters were born, when his best mate Omar was crippled by Death-Eaters. Blaming himself, he moved the family to London against his wife's

  wishes so he could help his now widowed mate with his young daughter. Gizella resented the move and his mother-in-law, who hated Gustav, started to manipulate her into thinking he was cheating on her. In 1984, she would file for divorce and move back to Haarlem, taking his daughter Aurelia and son Augustus with her. He would live alone with his daughter Analiza until he would meet Grace Mulciber in 1989. Ignoring her families purist ideals, Gustav married her on April 14th, 1990 and she would help him track down ex-Death Eaters by spying on her family. Grace would become pregnant soon after their nuptials with his last child around the same time his teenage daughter Analiza did. When Analiza expressed a wish to pursue a career, Gustav encouraged her by taking in her son Alex with the intention of raising him and Gavin as brothers. This was, unfortunately, cut short in 1994 when Grace's deception is discovered by her family and she is marked for death. She convinces him to hide her and Gavin in the Snark summer home, to which he reluctantly agrees. It worked for a short time until 1997 when the DE's hunted her down and killed her while Gavin watched, hidden away. Gustav got their moments too late. Returning with Gavin, he begin to raise them alone while also working as an Auror during the war. In the battle of Hogwarts, he would die protecting his Daughter-in-law and protege, Beatrix. Due to her being the only one to remain with him after Gizella left, Analiza received a good portion of the Snark fortune.

Analiza Raven Snark

● b. June 8th 1973, 35 y.o ● Pureblood. Alumni of Hogwarts, Slytherin House ● Former Head of the DoM, Currently the Headmistress of Hogwarts. ● Parents are Gustav Snark and Gizella Osterdike. Aurelia Meryl Snark-Rosier, nee Snark

● b. June 7th 1973, 35 y.o ● Pureblood. Alumni of Beauxbaton, though she did attend Hogwarts for 1 year in Ravenclaw. ● Fashion Designer and owner of the La Magique Couture Fashion line and Boutique ● Parents are Gustav Snark and Gizella Osterdike. First twin and eldest of 5 siblings: Analiza (Twin), Augustus, Gavin (Half) and Freddie (Half). ● Wife to Severin Rosier. Mother to Aelys Snark-Rosier ●  Born first of the twin Snark girls, Aurelia was not only the favorite but she is also the heiress to the Osterdike fortune. She and Ana started out as best friends but grew apart as they aged due to differences in personality and Gisella's obvious preference for Aurie. Adored and spoiled by her grandmother and mother, Aurelia chose to move back to Haarlem with her mother after the divorce. She was originally sorted into Ravenclaw at Hogwarts but the divorce caused her to quit after her first year and move to Beauxbaton. She was a popular student with excellent grades, who finished top in her class as well as held the head girl title when she graduated. Though not entirely in agreement with the ideals, Aurelia

  was raised a purist and had an arranged marriage to a pureblood named Severin Rosier (Who was related to Evan Rosier of Deatheater fame). She moved to France and begin working for Twillfit and Tattings as a designer. The birth of her daughter Aelys in 1994 was kept quiet by Gisella, who didn't wish for Gustav to know of his granddaughter. Because of this, Aelys didn't met her cousins and other family members until her grandfathers funeral. Aurie and Ana grew out of their rivalry as they matured, but the hatred was renewed when Analiza got Gisella, Greta and Delphineas, who Aurie had been raised by and adored, arrested. Aurelia then lost her job thanks to the news of her families connections to Death Eaters. Not one to back down, she decided to start her own clothing line which she call Le Magique Couture. It has since boomed into a very well known and respected brand in France and is beginning to seep into England as well. Aurelia keeps in contact with Augustus and Arielle, but not Analiza and Alexander.


Augustus Jay Snark

Aelys Renee Snark-Rosier

● b. ● Pureblood ● Beauxbaton 4th year ● Parents are Severin Rosier and Aurelia Snark ● With both her parents as High Powered executives, Aelys was raised by her paternal grandmother who was a traditionalist and a purist. When she was born, her maternal grandmother forced her mother to hide the news from her maternal grandfather, Gustav, out of spite. It wasn't until she was about 4 years old that she even knew she had cousins, whom she met at her grandfathers funeral. Due to her mothers hatred for her Aunt Analiza, Aelys is discouraged from writing to her aunt or cousin Alexander, but writes to both her uncle Augustus and cousin Arielle frequently. She is a spoiled purist brat who uses her innocent looks and seemingly gentle nature to use people to her advantage, much like her mother.

Hans Jacobus Osterdike

● b. July 16th, 1918 - d. December 15th, 1982 @ 64 y.o ● Pureblood. Durmstrang Alumni ● Former Dark Artifacts Dealer ● Parents are Reiner Osterdike and Annaleise Grosvenor. Only Child. ● Husband of Greta D'Aubigne. Father to Gizella and Gerda Osterdike. The last of the Osterdikes, Hans was raised with strong purist ideals and to hate muggles, muggleborns and bloodtraitors. His family were staunch supporters of Grindelwald and he was interested in joining Voldemort. His parents insist that he not risk the Osterdike name and arranged his marriage to Greta D'aubigne instead. Hans was known as a strict and cold husband and father who was always away on business trips trading Dark Artifacts. He ruled the Osterdike home with an Iron fist and promptly disowned his own daughter when she married a muggle. His downfall came in 1982 when his artifacts were discovered in the hands of DE's and the Ministry raided his home. They accused him of being a DE and he resisted arrest, inciting a battle that ended in his death. Surprisingly enough, Analiza was his favorite grandchild, evident by the fact that he left her some powerful items and books, as well as his favorite dragon hide satchel, in his will.

Greta Marieke Osterdike, nee D'Aubigne

● b. December 13th, 1924, 84 y.o ● Pureblood. Beauxbaton Alumni ● Former Heiress. Currently incarcerated in Azkaban. ● Parents are Neil D'Aubigne and Anais Rideau. Youngest of 5 Siblings: Arnaud, Rémy, Aurelie, and Femke. ● Wife of Hans Osterdike. Mother to Gizella and Gerda Osterdike. Greta was the baby of the D'aubigne family, who were both Grindelwald and Voldemort supporters,  and grew up spoilt and purist. Naturally she was wed to a rich pureblood named Hans and gave birth to two beautiful pureblood girls. She was very hurt when Gizella married a blood traitor and Gerda married a muggle. Unlike her husband, who simply disowned Gerda, Greta preferred to manipulate. When her husband was killed during an Auror raid, she became worried that Gustav was onto her history with the DE's, so she manipulated Gizella into thinking Gustav was cheating on her. She also introduced her to Delphineas, joined the DE's during the war and let her home be used as a dark artifact storage place. She was caught alongside her daughter and son-in-law when the ministry raided their home shortly after the war. She now resides in Azkaban, awaiting death.

Gizella Sophia Tate, nee Osterdike

● b. November 21, 1950, 58 ● Pureblood. Beauxbaton Alumni ● Former Heiress. Currently incarcerated in Azkaban. ● Parents are Hans Osterdike and Greta D'Aubigne. Eldest of two siblings: Gerda Osterdike. ● Wife of Delphineas Tate, ex-wife of Gustav Snark. Mother to Analiza, Aurelia, Augustus and Freddie. As the eldest and heir apparent to the Osterdike fortune, Gizella grew up lavished with her mothers affection and was very close to her. She had an easy life, growing up in luxury, being beautiful and popular at Beauxbaton and partying on the weekends in Amsterdam. She was coming home from one of these parties when a muggle car nearly ran her down, Had she not been pushed out of the way by one Gustav Snark, an auror from Britain in Amsterdam on a mission. Convinced, despite their many differences, that he was her soul-mate, she eloped with him only months later to the horror of her parents. Marriage life was bad for the two however and they barely had a chance to birth three children before things went down hill. Shortly after her twin daughters were born, Gustav insisted the family move back to London so he could care for a crippled friend. Gizella resented him greatly for taking her from her mother and this made it easy for her mother to manipulate her. After

her fathers death in 1982, Greta begin to fill Gizella's head with lies about Gustav, which Gizella ate up eagerly. Finally in 1984, she could have enough and file for divorce. She planned on taking all the children, but Analiza refused to return to Haarlem with her. Leaving her behind, Gizella took Aurelia and Augustus back to Haarlem. Barely a couple years later, Greta introduces Gizella to Delphineas Tate, a Death-Eater from the first war that escaped to Holland with Greta's help. The two fell in love, married and produced a son, Dorian, a few years later. She lived peacefully with her new family for a short while until the second war begin. Delphineas returned to the DE's and managed to convince Gizella and her mother to do so as well. Eager to please her new lord, Gizella would be at fault for the Mulciber family learning of Grace's marriage to a known blood traitor. After the war ended, the ministry was tipped off by Analiza, Gizella's own daughter, that the Osterdike home was being used for dark purposes. The ministry raided and found several artifacts and incriminating evidence. Delphineas, Gizella and Greta were all found guilty and now reside in Azkaban.

Gerda Saskia Turpin, nee Osterdike

● b. July 30th, 1954, 54 y.o ● Pureblood. Beauxbaton Alumni ● Housewife/Farmer ● Parents are Hans Osterdike and Greta D'Aubigne. Youngest of 2 Siblings: Gizella Osterdike. ● Wife of Henrik Turpin. Mother to Fidelia Turpin and adopted mother to Frederick Turpin. Unlike her spoiled and snobby sister, Gerda grew up with a level head on her shoulders and a sense of compassion for the muggles her family so abused. Since she was pretty much ignored by her mother and her father was never around, she would often sneak into town and play with the muggle children. In Beauxbaton, she excelled in potions and herbology, preferring to use her hands and not her wand. A couple years after her graduation, in 1973, she would be flying to Germany in order to apply for a job as an Apothecary assistant when her broom malfunctioned and crashed her into a farmers field. The farmers name was Henrik Turpin and he found the wounded girl and brought her to his home where he nursed her back to health. During her short recovery, he learned that she was a witch and when he showed no concern or

horror, Gerda decided she was in love. Against everything her parents taught her, she married Henrik and was promptly disowned from her family because of it. A year later, she gave birth to her daughter and the three settled down in Germany. When her father died, Greta did something out of ordinary and lifted the disowning to allow Gerda to see her family again. Gerda would visit her nieces and nephews, and allow Fidelia to see them, but she preferred her life on the farm. Shortly after the war, her sister and brother-in-law were arrested for being DE's and Gerda stepped forward to help them out by adopting their now orphaned son Dorian. Erasing his memories and implanting ones that encouraged acceptance of muggles, Henrik and Gerda renamed him Frederick and raised him as their own. Gerda is still working on the farm, though she uses more magic then she used to since her hands are not what they used to be.

Frederick Henry Turpin

● Born Dorian Tate, but renamed when he was adopted. ● b. September 24th, 1989, 19 y.o ● Pureblood, but thinks he is Half-blooded. Alumni of Hogwarts, Hufflepuff House. ● Healer-In-Training ● Biological Parents are Delphineas Tate and Gizella Osterdike. Youngest of 4 siblings: Analiza, Aurelia, and Augustus. Fidelia Gretal Turpin

● b. Feb 13 1975, 33 y.o ● Half-Blood (Pureblood mother, Muggle Father) ● Cursebreaker ● Parents are Henrik Turpin and Gerda Osterdike. Eldest and only biological child. Has an adopted brother named Frederick, who is actually her cousin. ● Engaged to Nakia Abasi When her parents married, her mother was cut off from the Osterdike family as a blood traitor, so Fidelia spent her first 7 years separated from her family. Instead, she grew up in a very accepting atmosphere where she spent most of her time with muggles, though she really wanted to meet her cousins. Her chance came when her purist grandfather, who had disowned her mother, died when she was about 7. Her grandmother, though purist as well, accepted the Turpin's merely because the spunky Fidelia was already showing her magic skill at the tender age of 7, so Henrik's muggle blood must not have sullied her too much. She would attend Beauxbaton with her cousins Aurelia and Augustus, the latter who she became best friends with. She graduated with high scores and almost immediately went to Egypt to study cursebreaking. She rarely comes home, except to see Auggie's team play now and then. Much to the elder members of the families dismay, Fidelia recently revealed to her family in early 2008 that she was a lesbian and recently announced she was going to be married to a Kenyan witch named Nakia Abasi that she met while cursebreaking in Egypt.

Henrik Johan Turpin

● b. December 27th, 1949, 59 y.o ● Muggle ● Farmer ● Parents are Johan Turpin and Hilda Greuberman. 3rd of 6 children: Klaus, Fritz, Dietrich, Elsie and Johanna Turpin. ● Husband of Gerda Osterdike. Father to Fidelia Turpin, Adopted father to Frederick Turpin. A simple man who loves the outdoors and a good brew, Henrik was raised in a large family of Farmers in Hanover Germany. Taking after his father, Henrik saved up and bought his own farm when he was 17 in 1966 and had turned it into a successful business by 1973 when he found a wounded woman in his fields. Taking her home, he nursed her back to health and learned her story. It seemed she was a witch on her way to Hanover to apply for a job and her broom crashed in his field. At first he was skeptical but accepted her after she showed proof. The two fell in love and married against her families wishes soon after. She was disowned and moved to Germany with him. Together they had a daughter and worked as farmers until Gerda's father died. Henrik never felt very welcome in the Osterdike home and preferred to stay away. In

1998, his wife offered to care for her orphaned nephew and Henrik accepted the boy as though he were really his son. The two have a close relationship to this day.

Beatrix Leann Snark, nee Cartwright

● b.  June 13th, 1975 - d. May 1998 @ 23 y.o ● Muggleborn. Beauxbaton Alumni ● Former Auror ● Parents are Lisette Follet and Charles Cartwright. Youngest of 2 children: Anthony Cartwright. ● Wife of Augustus Snark. Mother to Arielle Snark. Bea was born to an English lawyer and a French painter and grew up in a moderately well off home in Bristol until she was 6. Her parents chose to move back to Nice, France, where her mother was born after her grandmother passed away. Her life was fairly normal for a young girl until strange things started happening around her at age 10. Her parents were scared at first but when it was revealed she was a wizard, they happily shipped her off to Beauxbaton. There she would meet a cute wizard named Augustus Snark, though the two pretty much ignored each other until their fifth year when he suddenly noticed her. He pursued her passionately and ignored all rebuffs she sent his way. Finally after a year of it, she buckled and let herself fall in love with him. With a love so passionate it was no surprise, at least to her, that she became pregnant before they even graduated (Much to both their parents horror).

  Shortly after graduating, they moved to Bigonville so Augustus could play quidditch for the bombers and Beatrix could start working at the ministry as an Auror. They were married there in a private wedding. Beatrix became her father-in-laws little protege and grew to adore him, even choosing to remain an auror when the war started instead of running away. She joined her mentor in the battle of Hogwarts, despite his insistence not to. Gustav would die saving her from an attack and she managed to kill the Death-Eater who killed him before succumbing to her own wounds.

Grace Reese Snark, nee Mulciber

● b.  Sept 18th, 1962 - d.October 13th, 1997 @ 35 y.o ● Pureblood. Durmstrang Alumni ● Unemployed ● Parents are Ginavula Pemphedo and James Mulciber. Eldest of 2 children: Leonardo Mulciber. ● Wife of Gustav Snark. Mother to Gavin Snark. Born to the infamous pureblood Mulciber line, it was no wonder that Grace showed intense interest in the Dark Arts. But unlike her parents, with whom she did not get along with, Grace had only an interest in dark magic and no urge to inflict real harm on innocent muggles. After graduating from Durmstrang, Grace started working a collection of odd jobs in Knockturn to fuel her love for the dark arts. It was there that she would meet Gustav Snark. Thanks to her wild independent streak, she had no qualms about marrying a blood traitor 16 years older then her. Setting aside family loyalty, which she didn't have much of anyways, she would spy on her family and help her husband track down ex death eaters. She also bonded greatly with her new step-daughter, who was only 10 years younger then her, and even helped Ana out when both of them got pregnant at nearly the same time. When Ana couldn't take

   being a mother, Grace agreed to help raise Alex like her own son. This plan was cut short, however, when her family learned of her betrayal thanks to Ana's own mother. Frightened for her life, she convinced Gustav to let her take Gavin to their vacation home in Italy, where she lived in safety for about 3 years before the Death-Eaters tracked her down. Managing to hide her son but not herself, Grace was attacked in her home and killed, but not before taking out one of the DE's herself. When she died, she left her favorite collection of rings shaped like skulls to Analiza, which Ana cherishes to this day. The Mulciber fortune would be passed onto her son Gavin.

Delphineas Krandell Tate

● b. Nov. 12 1948, 60 y.o ● Pureblood. Alumni of Durmstrang. ● Former Death-Eater and Used Broom salesman. Currently in Azkaban. ● Parents are Edgar Tate and Ivana Karkaroff (Igor Karkaroff's Aunt). 2nd eldest of 4 children: Deidrick, Dorothy and Diana. ● Husband of Gizella Osterdike. Father to Dorian Tate, AKA Frederick Turpin Born poor to parents who valued purity over wealth (hence why Ivana chose to marry a poor pureblood then a rich muggleborn), Delphineas spent much of his life manipulating people into giving him things. He was well known around Durmstrang as being a liar and a thief, alongside his cousin Igor. When he graduated it was no surprise to those who knew him that he joined the Death-Eaters. Unfortunately, his reputation preceded him and he never made it into the inner circle. When the Death-Eaters disbanded, Delphineas took his used broom dealership and made it mobile so he could stay ahead of the ministry. He was nearly caught when he met Greta Osterdike in 1986, whom he manipulated into thinking he was a rich gentleman. She even introduced him to her beautiful daughter Gizella, who he seduced and married though whether his reasons were for money or love remains to

be seen. When Voldemort returned to power, Delphineas eagerly returned to his side and even dragged his wife and mother-in-law in as well. Once again his rise in the ranks was severed when the war ended and Voldemort was slain. To make matters worse, his vengeful step-daughter informed the Ministry of his whereabouts, leading them to arrest Delphineas, Greta and Gizella. He is now in Azkaban.

James Levi Ashwin

● b. June 20th, 1971, 37 y.o ● Half-blood (Pureblood father and Muggle mother). Alumni of Hogwarts, Slytherin. ● Whereabouts unknown. ● Parents are Leopold Ashwin and Cecilia Lark. Only child. ● Ex-Fiance of Analiza Snark. Father of Alexander Snark. With a philandering father and a hippy mother, it was no surprise that James grew up valuing his freedom. So much did he value it that he would desert his future wife and child in order to pursue it. He was raised with nearly no rules and lots of money, giving him an ego a mile wide and the means to back it up. James met Analiza at Hogwarts and at first  the two hated each other, but when serving a series of detentions together  for different reasons, the two realized their hatred was actually affection. Just like that, the two begin a rocky rollarcoaster of a relationship. James never was really serious about Ana, evident by his affairs he had after graduating and leaving her behind (She was 2 years behind him), but they remained together despite this and when she graduated, she ended up getting pregnant because of it. Analiza was excited and started talking about getting married and having a family, which terrified James. Desperate to get away from being tied down, he faked an elaborate death of Dragon Pox and disappeared. His current location is unknown.
