  • Madam Gertrudis,

Greetings and niceties, dear witch. One of my student has befallen an unfortunate incident of complete idiocy and decided to go Unicorn-Petting in the Forbidden Forest.  As you well know, the Forbidden Forest was not named in this way for the purposes of intimidation or quaint hyperbole, but with a mind of solid factual intentions.  Here at Hogwarts, we very much cherish the danger it poses and would not wish to trouble you with ordinary beasts who live there.

But this unfortunate student who was a-petting unicorns encountered a Hairy McBoon.  These are not native to Scotland and to my knowledge are quite dangerous.

I would appreciate a mop up team to be sent down at once to find and put the Hairy McBoon back on its island.  Also, I think and investigation might be in order - these creatures, they do not swim, if I recall.

    I expect your prompt replay,

    Kind Regards,

    Knox Greyfriar

Headmaster Greyfriar,

Concerning your report:

The Quintaped currently has a XXXXX rating designated by the RCMC (Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures).  Thank you for reporting this incident.

On Thursday the 17th of this month (2 days after this owl) the Pest Advisory Board will be sending a group of experienced of 5 Wranglers and 2 Magizoologist will Apparate at approximately 0500 Hours in Hogsmeade outside the Post Office.  Would you like someone to escort them onto the Grounds or would you like to have them ride by broom to a predetermined destination on the Grounds?

The case will be brought to the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures 1 business day since the sending of this owl as the Committee is out of session at the time this owl was sent.  You will be advised once a decision has been made even if the Quintaped in question has already been captured and is in holding at the Department.

We believe that all parties involved be kept appraised of the situation until the case has been seen through.

If you have any questions you may contact me directly or the Beast Division’s Pest Advisory Board within the RCMC at the Ministry of Magic London, England.

Sincerely,

Covadonga Gertrudis
Department Head for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures

Madam Gertrudis,

  • Five am? No good deed goes unpunished, I see.  Your team may help themselves onto the grounds.  Either my deputy or I will meet you.  Our freshly bandaged student was able to indicate what region of the Forest where he had his encounter.

I assume you'll have someone present to liaise with any centaurs you come across.  They are not, in general, pleased to see you lot.

Thank you for your particular brand of help in this matter.

    Regards,
    K. Greyfriar

Headmaster Greyfriar,

Yes, sir, bright and early.  I would rather have the situation under control before students are on the Grounds and happen on such a creature should it wander out of the Forbidden Forest.

It turns out I will be acting as the second Magizoologist as the man who had been scheduled to come is in New Guinea on an emergency International Coop regarding two Lethifolds.  I have experience in dealing with various centaur colonies and will not, in general, tolerate any misbehavior.

We will be on the Grounds 0500 sharp.  After the capture and placement of the Quintaped in the RCMC we are going out for breakfast and tea in Muggle London if you wish to join us.

Sincerely,

Covadonga Gertrudis
Department Head for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.
