[Saturday 20 Sept] .Playing On A Different Sort of Field. [Magpies Players, PM] on December 08, 2009, 05:16:49 PM Saturdays were always interesting, whether there was a Quidditch practice or not, routine rarely varied and that meant that Edward Lynch would be enjoying a quiet night and trying to stay clear of the press. At least, that was the way it was supposed to be. Unfortunately his weekends were more often than not spent chasing around the people on his team and ensuring that his closest mates weren’t doing anything that could get them into serious trouble or suspended. That would be a horrible fate, if Edward were ever to be suspended from Quidditch he wasn’t sure what he would do. It was likely that craziness would settle in.With much protesting and dragging of his feet Edward had been convinced to go out tonight and while his mates were definitely in their element going out all the time, Edward was the last person on the team expected to be excited about going out. In fact, his personality was less than bubbly tonight. He was used to being dragged around as a wingman and a shield, playing daddy and taking care of his friends whenever he was asked. Well, perhaps not whenever he was asked, there were times that his temper got the best of him and he declined quite nastily. He was meeting Jax at the club and Merlin knew who else would join them. He could only hope that there wouldn’t be any nosy reporters trying to get into their business. Edward was good with the press, there was no denying that, but he did not like the idea of having them peering over his shoulder and snooping into his life. If they did that too much how long before they would come up with his big secret? Not only his but also that of his mother, of Howard and of Lukas Quinn? Perhaps it is this which kept him from letting the press into his life too much. As far as the press knew there was nothing of interest in his life apart from his being a particularly good beater for his age.He gave himself one last look over in the mirror, flashing a grin before turning on the spot and apparating to Hogsmeade. He would simply have to make the best of the situation. After all, going out with his teammates always proved to be most interesting. Something always happened to keep Edward busy in some way or another. Then again this may have been because he didn’t see the point of taking home a different girl every night, that was not his style. No, he actually treated women with respect, often cleaning up those messes as well.He passed the bouncer breezily and moved into the club, taking in the atmosphere before moving to the bar and ordering his first drink of the night. Once he had that, he would go looking for Jax, if he wasn’t found first. “Dirty Martini,” he said to the bartender, pulling out his money and placing it on the bar. He would hope for the best, tonight would be fun. Skip to next post Re: [Saturday 20 Sept] .Playing On A Different Sort of Field. [Magpies Players, PM] Reply #1 on December 10, 2009, 10:29:04 PM Jax had himself a couple of interesting friends that he gained over the years. There were some odd balls, shut in sorts who he had to drag with him whenever he left or went out. Then there were the party animal set, the kinds that made it difficult to keep up with them when they drank or devoured other items not recommended for high quantity consumption. Jax preferred people who were in the middle of the spectrum so that if anyone was going to extremes it would be himself. It might have been why he took to Edward Lynch so well. The boy had a nurturing protective quality, despite his best efforts not to act like the mother hen, it came to pass. Jax always felt like he was being protected by the Lynch factor, he wouldn't go overboard if Edward was there steering him away from his considerably long list of vices. So in order to convince Edward to come out he had to make sure that Eddie dear knew that Jax would be lost without him. His mind wasn't completely his own that evening however. Despite his own attempts to clear his mind from the previous nights random interaction, Jax was still thinking about Charlotte. The girl had his mind clouded and swirled, but in a good way. Jax had to tell himself not to write her too soon after last night, though he wanted to have another run in with her. Finishing sorting himself out, Jax made his way to the meeting point discussed previously with Eddie. The group was going to meet up and unwind, a common occurrence among those who used a broom to make their living. Finding his friend at the bar shortly after he entered, Jax walked up beside him and laughed at the drink choice. "So what did you swap your pair of bludgers for something a little fruity," he asked pointing to the girlie drink that he just ordered. When the bartender finished with the current drink order he came over to Jax "Beer and a whiskey" he replied as if it was common knowledge what he liked to enjoy. Turning his back to the bar he leaned on it with his elbows before looking at Ed with a cocked brow, "So what have you been up to besides standing all alone waiting for the most exciting member of your posse to arrive?" She slipped into a swivel stool on Edward’s other side, shooting Jax Woolfolk a knowing wink. His pride, like her own, was plentiful. It was the slightly more reserved beater who would need a good drink or five to get him going.“I’ll have whatever they’re having,” she added vaguely, barely glancing at the bartender who was looming near to take her order. “Is Grosvenor here? We should charge it to his tab. He’s an old friend...” He’d slept with her best friend, anyway. Bed buddies of best buddies.... something like that. When a dirty martini, a beer, and a whiskey were delivered in front of her, Laney breathed out a little laugh and pushed the extra martini toward Edward. She grabbed the whiskey and downed it, reveling the strength with a slightly bitter face. Skip to next post Re: [Saturday 20 Sept] .Playing On A Different Sort of Field. Yes, he wiped his hands on his trousers. Not the most hygienic of men, but at least he washed his hands after he had done what he needed to do in the toilet."Drink!" he exclaimed loudly as he neared the group, his hands splayed out as though offering them something. The familiar lopsided grin rested on his lips comfortably as he winked at Laney. "Who's round is it?" he asked, a mischievous glint in his eye as he eyed Jax and Edward. Someone would be paying for his drink, and it most certainly would not be himself. Skip to next post Re: [Saturday 20 Sept] .Playing On A Different Sort of Field. [Magpies Players, PM] Reply #4 on December 28, 2009, 01:23:13 PM William hadn't heard from Edward Lynch in a while... Pretty sad, considering they live together. Perhaps it was the strict training from their coach that got them passing out all the time, or the nauseating feel of the match between the Magpies and the Tutshill Tornadoes, causing even more stress in the practices. Not that William was frightened, he just really, really hated that team. And he was sure Snark felt the same way with the way he was making William kill himself with a bat and a bludger.Woolfolk had invited William to Signature to meet up with a bunch of other teammates. Not his roommate, Edward, but Woolfolk. A man who he only sees during practice. But William was a man and he didn't notice that his best friend could of just said "Hey, wanna go to a bar?" In fact... He couldn't even imagine Edward saying that to him. William was an awful drinker. Maybe that's why he didn't invite him. Of course, Laney would be there, too. Which William was hoping. And no doubt Snark would be there, he just looked like he would drink all the time. Not necessarily a drunk, just... That he drank a lot.William moved swiftly into Signature, for once he wasn't stopped to make sure he was indeed important and not some smuck trying to sneak in. In his usual black suit and blue tie, William felt confident. Since he got into Signature unharmed and unquestioned. Go William! He spotted his teammates, and with a big grin he approached them "Afternoon... Who's buying?" Not completely aware that Snark had just asked the same question. He gave an extra smile and a pat on the back to Edward, and tried to play it cool in front of Laney. What am I saying? William is always cool. But, Snark was right there. Perhaps it wasn't the smartest idea to try to flirt with the seeker right now. Extra drills and mindless physical courses were just not on William's to-do list. "... You know what, I'll buy-- Hey, lets get the strongest thing you have!" William called over the bar. Typical William. Now that he thought about it, those extra hours of practice didn't seem so bad. And they'd be worth it just to get to say how lovely Laney looked. Instead, he just gave her a wink and waited for the drinks. Skip to next post
