    Trent Travis.
    Demetrius Woolfolk.

Full Character Name: Leon Othello Monroe
Character Birthday & Age: August 19th, 1991. Seventeen years old.
City & Country of Birth: Edinburgh, Scotland.
    Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Halfblood.
House & Year: Ravenclaw, seventh year.

Wand: Leon’s wand is 10 inches, hazel wood with a Dragon Heartstring core. It’s supple with a spiraled shaft.

    Physical Description:
Leon could be considered cute; even handsome. That is, if he was confident enough. Leon lacks proper skills to understand that his frame is elegant, his bone structure sharp. But with that lack of confidence, Leon gives off a shy vibe towards everyone. Though he holds himself tall, he holds himself awkwardly all at the same time. This is mostly because he’s 6’3” and doesn’t know what to do with himself.

Leon’s hair is a very dark brown, almost purely black, and incredibly shaggy. Basically, once Leon gets out of the shower or wakes up, he just leaves it alone. His hair usually reaches his brow, the longest he’ll let it get it to is his chin before he properly cuts it. Leon’s chin is also rather scruffy at some points, and shaves it whenever he realizes it’s there, but usually makes up excuses to keep it. Really, he just thinks it makes him look older.

Leon’s eyes are a bright blue. They convey all of his emotions in mere seconds to how he’s feeling. He has the most expressive face that one may ever know. Leon doesn’t even know it.

Though he wears his heart on his sleeve, his semi-massive stature may threaten some. If not, then his fist will. Leon is built fairly well and keeps it that way with exercise. He’s not afraid to show it, either. But usually people see the good boy he really is and leave him alone.

Leon’s complexion is clear and pale, but not deathly. He finally reached the stage where he no longer has acne. His cheeks show some color, and his awkward grins show white, straight(ish) teeth. Though that’s very nice, he usually lacks a brush and proper etiquette when eating or playing with other children.

    (Optional list)
    Build/Body type: A bit muscular.
    Estimated Height/Weight: 6’3”, 160 pounds.
Hair color: Very dark brown, almost black.
    Eye color: Blue.
    Skin color: Pale Caucasian.
First Impression: Shy, but proper (If you ignore his hair).
Any odd/outstanding features?: He usually has bruises on his arms and legs from doing mindless things like running into people or crawling under objects to retrieve what he thought was his wand, but really a cylinder shaped dust bunny that makes him gag even thinking about it. Callused fingers from playing the cello.

    Personality Description:
It’s not clear on who Leon really is. Is he the intelligent, shy boy that his teachers and classmates know? Or the silly boy who makes lovely jokes? Leon has that genius-but-crazy feel to him, and he seems to hide this away from others. Most of the time. Leon is very brilliant and kind, but has a very hard time showing others how wonderful he really can be.

Leon really is a proper gentleman. He respects everyone and wishes the best to them. He’ll hold doors open for girls and pull their seats out on dates. He’ll even help out with Professors with classroom chores. This annoys people to no end at some points, which Leon doesn’t understand and tries to apologize. Apologies: They’re not accepted.

Besides being fantastic, brilliant, yadda-yadda-yadda, Leon has flaws. He’s incredibly clueless to the real world. He doesn’t understand when people insult him, and he constantly zones out with everything. He’s living in his own world. The Ravenclaw has voices that talk to him in his head that help him with things he needs to do. He doesn’t understand that this is odd; he assumes everyone else is like him. He wouldn’t know otherwise, since he keeps to himself.

Leon is stuck in an alternate dimension where the strange may be normal to him. He can confuse people by telling them about how with Quantum Suicide, there’s a fifty percent chance that the experimenter may die, when they asked about yesterday’s homework. As if a wizard would be interested in silly Muggle experiments. But, a few moments later he may be completely fine again and telling a stupid joke to one of his few friends. Leon is just complex.

Though Leon is sweet, he has his violent moments. He doesn’t usually sit there, watching, when someone threatens him. He doesn’t cower when someone pushes him. Leon takes justice in his own hands. He’ll fight back, wand ready or not. He may also become overprotective over his close friends and react the same with rude people.

    History:
In 1990, Dontavius Monroe was a newly-adult wizard with big dreams of becoming an important person. But, of course, he got too far with his girlfriend, Fiona Capulet, a muggle, and… Impregnated her. So, Dontavius and Fiona married within a year and soon gave birth to Leon Othello Monroe. A little bugger to was born kicking and oddly quiet. Though he was still trying to beat everyone up.

Not too long after Leon was born, Fiona and Dontavius separated. Slightly due to the fact that Don admitted he was a wizard and Fiona was scared shitless. Donatavius insisted to keep Leon, and Fiona never talked to him since. Leon never really stopped to ask his father why he even liked his mother in the first place.

After Leon turned five, Dontavius married again to a woman by the name of Florence Montague. A woman with a heart of gold and enough money to support the scruffy father and son. She was also a muggle, but Don told her ahead of time their strange secret. She didn’t mind all too much (After taking it in for a few weeks). Dontavius finally got a permanent job as a secretary in the Ministry. Florence owned a flower shop. Leon liked having a motherly figure in his life, and quickly got used to her.

By age seven, Leon finally started experiencing magic. He’d just be in a class his mom insisted on taking him to for social interacting and kids would, of course, be inferior to him. This originally bugged Leon to unbelievable levels. But, soon, desks began to collapse at his hard looks of disappointment and scissors mysteriously chopped off pigtails without having to be within five feet of them. Leon felt amazing and powerful.

When Leon got his letter for Hogwarts, he was not only excited, but overjoyed that he’d be with people just like him. He even peed himself a bit. But he didn’t tell anyone about that.

Leon was sorted into Ravenclaw to no surprise to his father. He didn’t fit in, of course. He may be joined with his fellow housemates, but he remained quiet. His first few years of school, no one even knew he existed.

By his third year, Leon finally broke out of his shell a bit. He dated a few girls and actually made some friends. Over the course of the next three years, he became more comfortable with everyone. And people knew he was real and not some shadow or a book sitting in their sit, which they would rudely sit on anyways. Florence also gave birth to Leon’s younger brother, Reynaud Monroe, his third year of school.

At the end of sixth year, Leon finally opened up as far as he wanted to, which wasn’t all too far. He made more friends, but still remained shy and silent. In fact, one of his professors thought he was mute for the whole semester until he answered a question about some sort of charm. Leon wasn’t surprised at their shock, and just gave them his silly smile.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Leon is clever and a genius. He was just born to be a Ravenclaw, and couldn’t be seen in any other house. He’s witty and talented in what he does, even though he’s very quiet.

    Writing Sample:
The day was growing colder and colder as the sun set. Leon rubbed his elbows and let his eyes flicker around the room at his fellow classmate’s faces. They were doing some sort of test which Leon had finished without hesitation. It was just a review of what they did last year, as if he couldn’t pass it. Students noticed him looking around and either gave him wary smiles, ignored him, or mouthed if he knew the answer to a certain question.

Leon’s attention was soon on the boy who sat next to him that seemingly stared into nothing. He caught Leon’s eye and mumbled “I don’t get it…” He really didn’t know what to say to that. It was just a review. Wouldn’t he be doing it? How could he just skip his school work? What was WRONG with this boy?! Leon spyed around the room before slowly gliding his test paper towards his classmate, whom noticed immediately and copied down his answers.

Leon really thought nothing of it. Plenty of students have asked him to give them answers before, he really didn’t care. They should study, he would say. Most of them did after. They got awful grades for not being able to explain their answers. What does the zodiac constellation Leo stand for? Easy, right? They had to pick two constellations and do THAT. But I digress. When Leon was leaving the class, the boy stopped him from leaving.

“Thanks,” said the boy, “I don’t know you, yet you helped me…” Why the boy was so astonished really puzzled Leon. Didn’t other people do the same for him? Leon nodded, giving the student an awkward smile. “I think I should study. That’ll help a whole bunch.” The boy laughed and shook his head, a bit ashamed of himself.

“If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.” Leon answered, nonchalantly.

But after that statement, the two seventeen year olds exchanged an awkward silence with a couple of furrowed-brow stares. The boy finally left Leon by himself and he simply put his belongings away in his bag. “I thought it was funny…” Leon told himself, blocking out the fact that he scared away a potential friend.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Leon is complex. He’s shy, brilliant, witty, and silly. Leon lives in his own world, own universe, and doesn’t care that no one understands him. He plays cello, reads insanely old poetry, and can keep up conversations with himself for hours at a time. Leon’s a gentleman, a lovely boy who shows his true potential. Leon’s a proud Ravenclaw. He likes the color blue. Leon’s academic achievements are what matters most, and he will beat your face in if you insult him and/or a friend of his. But Leon is gentle, tall, and scruffy. He’s the friendly, neighborhood giant.

Leon Othello Monroe ~ Captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team.

    [Character Name:] Leon O. Monroe.
[Title Applying For:] Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain.
    [Link to Accepted Biography:] http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=3513.msg22165#msg22165

[How Has Your Past Prepared You For This Honor?:] Though he didn’t get much time on the field, Leon has always been a back-up keeper for the Ravenclaw team and has always been extraordinary, no matter how well he plays by the rules. Unlike the others. Leon practiced whenever he could, and still does. Sometimes with the team itself, sometimes by himself. Leon only really took Delilah’s place a couple of times when she refused to practice or was sick somehow.

Leon would be a little shocked to learn he’s Captain, but considering how well he studied the past captains and how they worked, Leon would be comfortable with bossing people around. He knows what to do to get his teammates attention, how hard to work them, and how little he should show mercy to their tired souls.

[What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:?
Leadership, obviously. One must show proper leadership. They must be strong-willed and never back down. Usually, Leon shows none of these qualities. But it comes to important things like Quidditch or group activities, he may get a little more… Pompous. And he’ll act superior to everyone else. Leon knows when it’s best to control a situation and knows when to back down a little bit.

Really, the real important aspects here may be wisdom and observation. How do you know if you’re pushing too far? If there’s an issue going in between your star players? With these proper skills, you can see when there’s a foul play or a rival team member coming up fast towards one of your own. With his quick observations, Leon will be able to command his fleet of blue-robed students with the correct and sometimes most precise actions.

Respect may be another aspect. Without respect, your teammates may ignore you as you yell important commands, and it will go downhill from there. Leon would be grateful for his team mates. Buy them drinks, tell them they’re doing a fantastic job. Love them, practically. If a player feels unloved by the captain, they’ll probably want to quit or ignore the rest of the team. Just as Leon had with one of the past captains.

[Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle:]
“Okay, class. I want you to form groups of three and make write up a paper that discusses whether or not the overthrowing of Joseph the Great was relevant or not… Let’s do one foot for now.” The teacher assigned the students yet another useless paper and sat down at her desk, watching everyone. The way teachers always did that creeped Leon out so badly that he usually sat, hunched over his parchment.

This time was different, though. He had PEOPLE with him. The three boys stared at each other for a little bit before the other two turned around and began to chat it up with other students. A sad feeling hit Leon in the stomach. These two were going to make him fail this assignment. Leon let out a small, fake cough. Nothing. Another, louder, cough. Nothing. What to do? Gathering up all of his courage (This is why he wasn’t a Gryffindor) Leon opened his mouth and let out “You buffoons better not thing you’re skipping this paper.” The two boys turned around, and stared at Leon, awestruck.

“I thought he was mute.” One of them whispered to the other.

“If you refuse to help,” Leon ignored that dumb comment, “I won’t do it, either. Then we’ll all fail.” He leaned back in his chair. This wasn’t exactly true, Leon would do it… Just convince the Professor that the others didn’t do a thing. This was fairly easy, considering he was a very good student and they, well, were not. The boys looked baffled.

“Will you at least write it?” One of them piped up.

“No.” Leon nearly sounded offended. He wasn’t dumb. “I’ll tell you what to write, and you…” He turned to the other boy, “You will come up with the ideas.” The two finally agreed with Leon, leaving them with a high passing grade for the class. Leon couldn’t help but giving them a dirty, smug look as they left class. The two boys didn’t even thank Leon, but he assumed they were happy passing something for once in their life.

Leon Othello Monroe ~ Head Boy.

    [Character Name:] Leon Othello Monroe.
    [Title Applying For:] Head Boy.
    [Link to Accepted Biography:] Link!

[How Has Your Past Prepared You For This Honor?:]
Leon O. Monroe is known to be a very studious boy. If not, the most studious in the school. He passes almost all of his classes (Besides Arithmancy. “Does that even count?” Asks Leon) and he remains dedicated. Leon has his moments where he can step up to the plate and show great leadership. For example, in group activities in class, or in Quidditch. Just because he’s a big old softy for the books, doesn’t exactly mean he doesn’t know how to react to a troublemaking student.

Unlike the Ravenclaw prefects (hem) and the Head Girl (HEMHEM), Leon doesn’t ever get himself into trouble. He may show up to class late one day, but he’ll get straight into work as if he was always there. He doesn’t let little things such as time stand in his way of achieving greatness. And on the rare occasion that he does get into trouble, the Professor usually spares the boy. Leon wouldn’t dare repeat the same mistake more than once. He learns from his faults.

Just like for Quidditch, Leon had studied leadership skills and knows how to properly tug people around without them knowing it. Leon maintains a very intimidating structure, while he remains innocent and shy at the same time. Leon knows not to abuse powers, being the timid boy he is, but he also knows when to change into his Quidditch tactics and possibly scar a few people.

[What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:?
To Leon, the most important aspect of the job is to, well, be smart about one’s actions. Whether it is a student picking on a younger student, or a student setting the school on fire, Leon must know what to do. And, in fact, he does. A simple bully can be warned and possibly threatened with a detention, when an arsonist will be reported immediately to a Professor. Such matters should never be put into his own hands; he’s merely a student, after all.

If Leon didn’t know what to do in times of trouble, the school probably wouldn’t be as orderly. Which is why he needs to know Leadership, also, which he obviously does since he became Quidditch captain. He could compare the school to a Quidditch team, easy to manipulate, congratulate, and buy drinks for a few of them every once in a while to make them happy.

Leon also needs to be quick- and open-minded. That weird girl tap dances down the stairs: Potential life-threatening hazard? A jinxed third year? Or perhaps she’s just a weirdo? Leon knows he’ll simply question the girl, get her to stop, send her to the infirmary, or reverse the spell (Which Leon isn’t sure he should be doing, but whatever helps the freak).

[Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle:]
(You may tell the story as if your character is telling it,
or you can write in the third person.)

    “Hey! Leave me alone!”

Leon Monroe heard a voice yell down the corridor. Panic rose in the Ravenclaw’s body almost immediately. Who knew what was going on there? But… The cries were coming from directly where Leon was heading. It was be awful for him to just reroute himself and leave the poor student to be harmed. He had to take action! “Bloody hell… What’s wrong with me?” Leon murmured to himself and began to stride directly to where he heard the yelling. Another voice began to speak…

“Oh, shut it! You shouldn’t have called me ugly!”

Oh gosh… Really? Ugly? Leon sighed and turned the corner to face two young male students (One Gryffindor, one Hufflepuff) and he watched as the one pulled out his wand. The Hufflepuff yelled again for the Gryffindor to leave him alone. This puzzled Leon… Were Gryffindors known for their bullying? Not that Leon knew of… He decided not to quickly believe every bully was a Slytherin. How foolish of him. Devlin Matthews and Razzy Chancelier existed, after all.

“Um… Is there a problem here?” Leon asked, politely, his size dominating the bully’s and obviously freaking the boy out. He meant no harm, of course, but he didn’t wish to let the Gryffindor know that. The further he intimidated the student, the more he knew his point would be clear. The Gryffindor let the Hufflepuff go and faced Leon. What was he going to do?

“No. Who do you think you are?” The boy swallowed and stepped up to Leon (Hesitantly). Leon’s brow furrowed. He was Leon Monroe, of course. He knew that. He didn’t believe himself to be Shakespeare or Jonathon Swift. He wasn’t THAT delusional. Leon simply heard voices every once in a while… No biggy, right?

“Er, well... Could you please leave that boy alone? I could always get a Professor,” Leon told the Gryffindor matter-of-factly. The boy backed away and shook his head,

“No need to do that!” He said.

“Well, alright… Then… Go on, get out of here,” Leon tilted his head, a bit confused on why the boy was sticking around. However, once Leon checked to see if the Hufflepuff was alright, the other ran off and left Leon alone to help the young boy. He expressed his thanks and Leon was still completely confused.

“Who knew that Gryffindors had such tempers? I thought they were all suppose to be nice to Hufflepuffs or some bologna like that,” The boy sighed and wiped off the remaining dirt from his robes.

“Well… Laws are like cobwebs, which may catch small flies, but let wasps and hornets break through,” Leon answered him, pressing in some sort of metaphor that the younger student didn’t understand.

“What?” He asked, almost confused as Leon.

“Ah, well… Nevermind,” Leon shrugged and let the boy go on with his day. How come no one ever understood the quotes he used? That one actually made sense this time, right? Right!? Leon frowned and headed off to the library, where he was headed before. At least he saved an innocent soul… Though he made everything awkward. As always.
