Rumors make the world go ‘round…

Okay, not really. But news does fly fast, especially the juicy kind. Please use this thread to post any rumors that might be circulating in the Ministry, Knockturn, and other areas outside of Hogwarts! You can post from your character’s point of view or from a non-player-character. If you want to mention how you discovered the rumor, you can!

Many rumors will have some basis in truth, but they can be complete lies as well.

I encourage you all to spread rumors about your own characters too, because it will give us some more ammo- I mean, information about them!

Try to remember to give links to relevant threads or articles when you can!

Note: Though there will be some crossover, this thread should mainly be used for Wizarding World rumors. If you’d like to start a discussion or plot around a rumor, please create a separate thread about it in this board.

A word of advice from Knockturn Alley... following the explosion of cured Runespoor Venom outside the Black Chimaera in the early morning hours of October 14th, and the heightened Ministry presence (arrests & badass werewolf capture team on the go!):

Aurors are swarming the streets!  Stay in!  Now is NOT a good time to buy!  Get rid of all incriminating evidence!

Nate Briggs got off with just 15 days and a year's probation for his role in the Runespoor venom explosion due to the intervention of Theodora Kingstreet, presumed to have intervened at Dazmond Wiedman's request.

Certain paperwork may have been filed that 1) indicated charges might be taken against Aurors for brutality, and 2) that there were bigger apothecaries to fry.

These fliers can be found all over the place in Diagon and Knockturn Alley during the second half of December, 2008.  Some people claim to have seen a short Witch handing them out.

The latest gossip of pureblood society is that Liadan O Morain was spotted recently purchasing a vast amount of baby items- including a crib, other nursery furniture, and toys. It is rumored that the ice-queen herself may be pregnant... That Gregory Morozov she has been seen with the last few months does have quite the reputation of being a ladies' man after all.

After Candice Stevenson's dismissal from the Ministry of Magic on January 10th, many different rumors have been floating around the Ministry of Magic about what exactly happened.

Candice Stevenson attempted to usurp Tamis Raynor as the head of the DMLE in attempts to institute a new, less violent way of doing things. Candice tried to go over Raynor's head to have her fired based on violation of basic wizarding rights. Raynor found out, and had Candice immediately sacked.

Tamis Raynor is a tyrannical leader- she had Stevenson fired for disagreeing with her. If you value your job, you're better off not questioning her authority or methods.

Raynor didn't really fire the ministry shrink. Stevenson finally quit. One too many aurors pressed her buttons and she had a mental break down. She couldn't take it anymore so she just left.

According to someone *cough*Georgianne*cough* Tamis is secretly cheating on Archer with Dante Ward. And she's paranoid that Dante is into Candice, which is the real reason Candy is leaving.

But you didn't hear it from me.

Down-on-his-luck thief Evan Nicklewent broke into the stock-room of Calaveras in Diagon Alley. Two days later he had a change of heart and gave it all back and embarked on a soul-searching mission around the world , at least that's what he said in his farewell letter found at his residence when friends went looking for him after he disappeared. Meredith Renfield was seen at Calaveras enjoying a very large steak to herself on the same evening the letter was found. All efforts to contact Nicklewent have failed.

Following reports that the night after her 23rd birthday that Liadan O Morain was seen being led to her suite at Signature by a Vedir Prideaux, she was also spotted spending most of the weekend of April 10-12 in France- almost exclusively in the company of Vedir Prideaux.

Fauna Blake thinks that Flynn is a studly specimen of man. Seriously, she thinks he's babe-a-licious.

Acording to some sources, Clément Seguin, a Beauxbâtons student who is actually living at the Hogwarts castle for the Tetrawizard tournament, faint of being a shy and innocent boy who then bring his victims in the forbiden forest and push them in a pit where a giant Venomous Tentacula.

Rumor has it that there's a growing number of unregistered and/or werewolves in Britain without the proper paperwork are beginning to flood the Werewolf Registry's safe house and Wolfsbane Potion supports.  They seem to be getting around the Registry by using the names of registered werewolves to access the supports.

Following the announcement of Liadan O Morain & Oscar Whitman's engagement, rumor has it the reason for the proposal and rushed wedding (To be held March 20, 2010) is that Liadan O Morain might be pregnant with Whitman's child. Gasp! Shock! Scandal!
