Full Character Name: Delia Ann Morris (nickname Dilly)
    Character Birthday & Age: June 6, 1998; aged 10 going on 11
City & Country of Birth: London, UK
    Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn? Muggleborn

Alma Mater: Hard Knocks now, eventually Hogwarts

Occupation: Magical version of Baker Street Irregulars

Type of Criminal: Cockney Street Urchin

Allegiances / Loyalties / Political Faction: For the most part, Dilly knows nothing of politics and could care less. However she’s heard about the Pure vs. Muggle-born dichotomy and thinks Purists are a bunch of inbred stuffed-shirts. Thinking no one would dare to touch them, they also make easy “marks.” Dilly is loyal to people who befriend her, but she sees through phony attempts.

Previous Convictions or Crimes? If yes, please explain. Dilly has yet to be arrested, though she annoys law enforcement officers. She has actually bitten one or two...

What crimes might you commit in the future?  Discuss all possible: If recruited by the right people, Dilly would make an excellent break-in artist, burglar and spy. Assault with a two-by-four, brickbat or bottle is not unlikely. Nor is a kick in the...shins.

Are you currently under pursuit by the Ministry of Magic? No. Dilly is very small potatoes, at present.

Wand Description: Nine inches, willow, springy, unicorn hair. It’s stolen, of course. Being aware of the Statute on Underage Magic, Dilly is wary of using it. Not to say that she never would...

Physical Description: Dilly is small for her age, which makes her look younger than she is. She has short dark hair, dark eyes and an olive complexion. Her clothes are shabby hand-me-downs, more typically trousers than skirts. If she’s wearing something nice she probably stole it. Dilly is almost always in need of a bath. However she cleans up nicely, if there’s a good reason for it. She can be the very picture of adorable...

History: Dilly was born on the wrong side of the blanket, in early summer. Nothing is known of Dilly’s father. Little is known about her mother except that she was unmarried, and not considered respectable even in Muggle society. When Dilly was two years old her mother was struck by a car while crossing a street, intoxicated. Dilly was brought to St. Ursula’s Home for Female Orphans; where she remained until she was seven. It was then that she first began to show her magical capabilities, doing things like levitating crayons and other small objects. She also discovered her skills as a pickpocket.

Unlike Tom Riddle she did not use her skills to bully or steal from other children. At that time she used what she learned mainly to entertain herself and others. She always gave back what she stole; and was wise enough to keep her abilities secret from the adults. However, as soon as she was able she used her powers of levitation to float out of a third-story window (falling the last few feet and bruising her bum). Then she ran away. After a week in the London streets she stumbled across the entrance to Diagon Alley, and from there found her way to Knockturn Alley, where she found many people in an easy condition to lift things from their pockets, and few to care that she did. Of course she’s savvy enough to keep quiet that she’s Muggle-born.

    Writing Sample:

Kabir Ahmed finally made his escape from the Black Chimaera, hopefully without offending anyone. It had required him to indulge in his first Ogden’s, followed immediately by another. He resolved that in future he must pay much closer attention to his surroundings; but for now the first order of business was to find his way back to Diagon Alley. From there he would make use of the illegal Portkey he had just obtained. That is, once he stopped seeing double...

Out of the corner of one bleary eye he noticed a child...apparently no more than six or seven... emerging from a pile of rags behind Borgin and Burke’s. Ahmed could not tell whether it was a girl or boy. The pudding-bowl haircut could have belonged to either gender, as could the grimy cap, jumper and trousers the kid was wearing. Ahmed searched his pockets for the few sickles he still had left, wishing he had more. For a supposedly prosperous society, British wizardry was apparently no more immune than anyone else to poverty...

Kicking an empty tin can, the urchin ran in pursuit of it and slammed right into Ahmed.

“Oi! Watch where yer gowin’, willya?!”

Ahmed had not walked the streets of Mumbai without learning a few things. Reaching into his pockets with one hand, he caught hold of the urchin’s arm with the other.

    “Lemme gow, ya prevert!”

“Oh, stop,” Ahmed said evenly, as he relieved the child of his wallet and the Portkey, which was a filthy sock. “At least learn a new gag, the slam-and-run is the oldest trick in the book.”

The brat lifted a defiant chin. “I suppose you’ll be reportin’ me then?”

Ahmed looked up and down the street. “To whom should I report? The Pickpocket’s Guild, for antiquated practices? Here.” He closed the sickles in the child’s grubby hand. “Buy yourself a hot breakfast, and sin no more. By the way...I don’t suppose you could show me the way back to Diagon Alley?”

Dilly counted the sickles, eyes wide. “I’ll do better than that, Mister. I’ll take you there.”

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Dilly isn’t a bad sort, really. But she doesn’t take well to advice...
