Physical Description: Of all the Murphy children, Teagan is the one who most closely resembles their mother. She has Kate's petite build, standing at a mere five feet two inches in her bare feet, and large, round, deep brown eyes. Her skin is medium fair, that tends to tan rather than freckle in the sun. She has an oval shaped face with round, rosy cheeks. Her mouth is small, but with full lips and a bright, easily given smile.
Teagan's dark brown hair is long, falling to her mid back, and has a natural wave to it. During the day at work she prefers to keep it out of her face with either a loose bun or a pair of messy pigtail braids. The rest of the time, however, it is usually left down, as she is a little proud of it and has been told a time or two that it is one of her best features. In her manner of dress, Teagan likes to have a nice balance of cute and comfortable. She prefers to dress modestly and doesn't feel comfortable in clothes that would make her look too 'sexy'. That would make her feel a bit too bold - she'd rather blend into the background a bit.
Personality Description: Teagan is the type of person who wants to make everybody happy. This isn't always easy, as it means getting pulled in ten million different directions at times, stretching herself thin in an effort to please all, but she tries. It's easier, in her mind, to go along with what others want than to deal with the conflict that results in going against them. And Teagan hates conflict. She also hates letting down those she is close to (or isn't close to...random co-workers...even strangers, she just can't stand to disappoint anyone). It can be a big burden at times.
This does not mean, however, that she doesn't spare time to make herself happy. Teagan is, in fact, a generally cheerful person. She views happiness as a choice more than an involuntary emotion. There is always a silver lining to every situation, sometimes you just have to look really hard to find it. She's extremely optimistic, and because of this is also pretty resilient. Every time something bad happens, she tries to think about how much better the future will be.
Teagan has always possessed a great love of learning, even as a small child. She was very good at academic related things. In school, you could find her studying more often than you could find her doing almost anything else. It wasn't just that she wanted to ensure that she recieved good grades, either - she actually enjoyed it. There was nothing more fun than learning something new.
The twenty-three year old is admittedly a bit on the sensitive. She tries not to let the words and actions of others get to her, but the fact of the matter is that any negative comments, even if kindly meant, really hit her. She works hard not to show it, hiding it under smiles, but underneath her feelings are easily hurt. She lacks self confidence and is socially awkward. She tries so hard to be likable that she often ends up looking a bit too overeager, and ends up feeling stupid.
History: Teagan's parents met in Egypt, where they were both visiting on business. Robert Murphy was at the time a cursebreaker for Gringotts, and Kate was translating heiroglyphics. They were working in the same location, and found themselves running into each other several times. Robert was instantly charmed by Kate's dorky overalls and goofy grin. They began dating and two years later were married.
Four years (during which the Murphys were blessed with four boys - Declan, twins Brennan and Michael, and Seamus) later, Teagan entered the world. Having four older brothers, one might think that the youngest Murphy would grow up to be quite the tomboy, but this was not the case. Someone had to inject a little feminine charm into the family, after all, and that job was left up to Teagan. Her brothers may not have enjoyed her games of tea party, but with their eldest brother Declan (who doted upon his youngest sister) offering a little healthy encouragement (threats, noogies, things like that), they humored her anyway.
The Murphy children, however, were encouraged to spend most of their time outdoors. Teagan didn't mind this, as the woods that were located near their house offered plenty of opportunities for games of pretend. Her favorite thing to do, however, was go with Declan when he went fishing. She wouldn't fish herself, but she would talk with him or read a book. Declan has always been her favorite sibling, and to this day they remain very close.
Prior to Hogwarts, Teagan attended Glasmór Primary, the local muggle school. Her friendly, generous nature earned her plenty of friends, and her love of learning and studious nature helped her maintain pretty much straight A's.
Teagan entered Hogwarts in the 1996-1997 school year, and was sorted into Hufflepuff, which suited her exactly as it meant she shared a common room with Declan. This was a year full of turmoil in the wizarding world, but as a first year Teagan was oblivious to most of it. The commotion at the end of the year, however, and the death of Dumbledore shook the entire wizarding world, Teagan included.
The poor little girl was traumatized, and had nightmares every night for months. She didn't want to go back to school the next year, but her parents believed that this would be the safest place for her, so off she went. Of course, this turned out to be far from the case. With Snape in charge of the school and the Carrows at his beck and call, it was one of the worst place for a little halfblood girl, particularly one whose older brothers were rather outspoken when it came to injustice. However, she made it through the year and at the end of it all finally arrived home in one piece.
Her third year, although it was spent in a Hogwarts that was much more battered and battle torn than the one she had become accustomed to over the previous two years, was much brighter than the two previous. Hope was in the air, and Teagan loved hope. She selected her electives (Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, and Care of Magical Creatures), and although she found the addition of three new classes to her schedule to be a bit daunting at first, she worked hard and was able to keep her grades up.
In fourth year Teagan had her first boyfriend. His name was Thomas and he was a fifth year Gryffindor with blond hair and blue eyes that Teagan swore you could get lost in. The relationship lasted all of two weeks, but the Hufflepuff girl swore she was 'in love' with him for at least four months afterwards. She never hit the boy crazy stage, really. Her crushes were always serious, and long lasting - and usually unrequited.
Fifth, sixth, and seventh years eventually passed. A bright student, she of course did well on her OWLs and NEWTs, and graduated if not top of her class, at least close to it. There was only one problem with this - now that she was graduated, Teagan didn't have a
clue as to what she should do with her life.
And, to be honest, she still doesn't. But time doesn't stand still, and she figured that while she figured it out she needed to at least be doing something. So she moved to London, where she now shares a flat with her brother Declan, and got a job as a sales girl at a shop in Diagon Alley.
What is your occupation? How do you go about it?
How did you get your current occupation?
How does your past and abilities justify your current skills?: As a sales associate at Scribbulus Ever Changing Inks, it is Teagan's job to work the register, keep the shelves stocked and the aisles clean, and ensure that any customers have a pleasant shopping experience that is also, hopefully, lucrative to the owners of the shop.
Teagan has a great love of office and stationary supplies, so she has always been a fairly frequent customer at Scribbulus whenever she happened to be in the area, and was well known to the management. When she saw a help wanted sign hanging in the window, she decided to apply. Her track record of being responsible and reliable, her acquaintanceship with those that already worked at the shop, and her friendly, bubbly personality (excellent for interacting with customers) helped her secure the position. It's not a job that she wants to spend the rest of her life at, but it will do for now.
