((Moira)) on November 03, 2009, 01:22:38 PM This was supposed to be Declan's night off. Right now he should be at home, watching football on the telly and drinking a beer while his sister Teagan made dinner. Instead, he found himself at St. Mungo's, nursing his injuries. And it was all Terry's fault. His co-worker had a family event to attend, and had asked Declan to cover for him, which the hitwizard had been happy to do. That, of course, was before the doxy. It had happened like this - he was on patrol, minding his own business, rounding the corner of Maple and Vine. This was generally a quiet neighborhood, but there'd been some break-ins recently that were suspected to be the work of a wizard. He'd heard a noise down a back alley and had of course followed it. But had he found a catburglar? Of course not. Instead, he'd found doxies. Three of them. "Freakin' doxies," he muttered under his breath, eying the ugly bites on his hands. He'd managed to subdue them with a few well aimed stunning spells, but not before they'd done their damage. It hurt like hell, and - not to sound like a baby or anything - he honestly just wanted to go home. Hopefully one of the mediwitches would get to him soon. ((Moira)) Reply #1 on November 03, 2009, 02:16:18 PM With her final break of the day officially over, Moira entered the staff room to check the board. It had been relatively quite during her shift, and she found herself somewhat grateful. After all, only a few days earlier she had found herself in a relatively awkward situation with Jason and Quincy. More common cases meant she was more likely to work alone, and avoid a repeat encounter.Pausing in front of the board she scanned it and quickly found her name next to a patient name and case type, Declan Murphy - Doxie attack. Taking the chart, she headed off towards the correct room. Back in her Hogwarts days she hadn't know Declan that well being he was in a different house and a bit older then her. However, since returning to London she'd found him in her care a few times given the nature of his work."Alice," she said to one of the orderlies who was passing by, "can you fetch me the doxy venom antidote and bring it to 115, please?"As the other woman wandered off in the direction of the supply room, Moira entered 115. She gave Declan a sympathetic smile as she noted the bites on his hand. Doxies were pretty common, but that didn't make it any less painful for those attacked."I'd say nice to see you, but I should probably save that for after the antidote arrives," she told him. Well, if Declan had to be at St. Mungo's that evening, at least he got his favorite mediwitch, right? "It'd be nicer to see you if we ever met for a reason other than something trying to maim me," he pointed out, smiling at her anyway. It wasn't the widest smile, but hey - it was still a smile. "Think I'm going to start carrying around some Doxycide with me on patrol," he told the pretty witch, holding his hand up and flexing it a little...then wincing. That didn't help. Just hurt more. Right. No more moving. "They're nasty little buggers." Still, while he waited for the antidote to arrive (which, sweet magic, would it hurry up please?), he may as well make conversation. "So how you been, Moir?" he asked. She was a nice girl, and they'd gotten to know each other tolerably well over his many visits to this particular establishment. "Things going okay?" ((Moira)) Reply #3 on November 10, 2009, 10:24:45 AM Moira gave a gentle laugh at the mention of carrying around Doxycide as she opened the chart to make a few notes. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea given the fact that the creatures seemed to find him often. As he said, doxies were nasty little buggers. Although it was more common to see an unsuspecting child attacked then a hitwizard."Things going okay?""Things have been...busy," she said, sighing slightly. "Between the increase in Runespoor attacks and now trying to assure my patients suffering from lycanthropy that they will continue to receive care in the midst of the actions of Hogwarts' new Headmistress...like I said, it's been busy."When that story broke it had bothered her more then she had cared to let on. Plus there was all the excitement with Ahmed recently and keeping up on her personal commitments. Yes, busy described her life well at the moment. Skip to next post Re: [sept. 19] freakin' doxies. ((Moira)) Reply #4 on November 11, 2009, 12:48:42 PM "Runespoors?" Declan was surprised. He raised his eyebrows at the witch. "I thought those were mostly in Africa." Of course, runespoor eggs were a very popular potion ingredient, so he supposed they weren't all that uncommon in the UK. Perhaps some improperly stored eggs had hatched and were causing trouble or something. That whole Hogwarts thing...it seemed to be getting pretty sticky. The subject of lycanthropy had always been rather controversial, and probably always would be. Personally Declan didn't think that werewolves should be treated any different than anyone else. It wasn't like they'd asked to be bitten, after all. "Yeah, I heard she expelled a student," he commented, wincing at a twinge of pain from the bites on his hand. Seriously. He was never leaving home without doxycide again. "Doesn't make much sense to me. If the girl's been going there that long without problems, why expel her now?" Skip to next post
