[Sept. 1] Finally Back Home [OPEN] on November 01, 2009, 01:53:35 AM It was late, and the entire castle seemed to be aware of that as the silence drifted through the Entrance Hall. Dinner had just ended, the first dinner in a familiar place, and thankfully, there were many more to come. Adrienna had not noticed the time go by as she had eaten, but now she felt fatigue creep slowly into her body, urging her to sleep. With everything that had occured earlier that day however - the arrival of the Hogwarts Express, the Sorting ceremony - she had not had the opportunity to unpack her belongings, and she wished she had the energy to do so now. Instead, she was standing over her perfectly made bed, staring warily at the large suitcase that was placed heavily on top of the sheets. Then, deciding that the daunting task would have to wait until tomorrow, she sighed deeply and plopped lazily down onto her soft mattress. The unused sheets felt cool againt her skin and she closed her eyes, thinking how wonderful it felt to be in this magical place again. As this thought passed slowly through her mind, she heard someone else enter the room. Thankfully, the train ride went by without a hitch. The dinner wasn't exactly as smooth, but Meg still hoped for the best for the rest of the year. She knew that she would certainly need it, with the OWLs just around the corner. But, she was going to try her best not to worry about the exams just yet. Naturally, she knew that she would be worrying about those exams plenty of times by the time that she actually needed to take them. In addition, she had all of her extracurriculars at the castle, so she would be pretty busy. Meg had finished the day in the Ravenclaw Common Room with her sketchpad. She drew a few owls on one of the pages, since she was rather bored. After all, the school year would technically start the next day, when classes would resume. After that point, the work loads would just start piling up. But, even after last year, when she showed off her artwork to a lot of people at the Remembering Day ceremony, she still held her pad close to her. Thus, she still had problems showing off her artwork. That would certainly need to change if she wanted a certain position next year. With a short sigh to herself, Meg stood up, and walked up the staircase to the dorm room. Knowing her, she wouldn't fall asleep just yet or anything, it would probably take her a while. But, at least she would be trying. As soon as she walked into the room, she noticed Adrienna already laying down on her own bed. Stopping at the entrance way, she looked over at her fellow fifth year. "I hope I'm not intruding into anything?" she asked before making her way fully into the room. Despite the warning of footsteps, she had still been rather surprised to find another older Ravenclaw, standing hesitantly in the doorway. Of course, she had seen her before. Seemed like her name started with an ‘M’, but Adrienna could not for the life of her remember what it was. “I hope I’m not intruding into anything?” the girl said inquisitively, taking half a step backwards. It wasn’t until then that Adrienna realized that she looked completely ridiculous, her head hanging of the side of the bed and her feet stuffed into the contents of her suitcase. Quickly, hoping the other girl hadn’t noticed, she snapped into an upright position.“Oh, not at all. Just trying to put off unpacking… I’m such a procrastinator at times,” she smiled sheepishly. Procrastinating was so easy to do, and it was just so tempting sometimes. With their new Headmistress, she highly doubted that they would be able to get away with procrastinating too much. However, it wouldn't hut to try it, just as Adrienna was doing now. Despite the changes at the castle, they were still the students of the school, so they would probably still try to pull the same things as they normally would try to do. Meg walked into the room fully, and headed over to her bed. She placed her sketchpad down on the nightstand by the bed. "It's so easy to do sometimes," she responded to the procrastinating comment. But, since it was their OWL year, she doubted that they could procrastinate that much. After all, their future classes would depend on how they did on those very classes. Therefore, they would need to treat those tests seriously, or at least not procrastinate too much when studying for them. "Although, if you need help, feel free to ask. You would at least need your books for tomorrow," Meg offered to Adrienna as she looked back over to her housemate. Despite the procrastinating nature, Ravenclaw didn't need to lose points over not bringing a book to class, especially so early in the year. ((ooc: sorry for the lengthy weight)) Skip to next post Re: [Sept. 1] Finally Back Home [OPEN] Reply #4 on December 21, 2009, 01:36:26 PM Adrienna groaned internally at the thought of fetching her books. Could they not hand them out in class? It would be so much more simple. She sat up on the edge of her bed, feet dangling off the end, and reluctantly she rose.“Have you gotten your books yet, then?” Adrienna asked, looking over to Megan. “If not perhaps we could go get them together?”They would need to hunt down all the professors and such, and it was such a daunting task to complete on one’s own. But Adrienna was willing to go by herself if Megan already had hers.Giving up on her unpacking, as she was much too tired to complete it, she zipped up her ugly hand-me-down floral suitcase and sat in on the floor at the foot of her bed. It was unfortunate that her mother forced her to carry such an atrocity, but it had once been hers at Hogwarts. Adrienna supposed it was to be a tradition until the bloody bag fell apart. She wished it would, though maybe after she finished unpacking. The thought of all her things scattered about on the floor made her shudder… Skip to next post Re: [Sept. 1] Finally Back Home [OPEN] Reply #5 on December 27, 2009, 08:50:13 PM One constant problem that Megan faced, being a muggle-born, was money. Now, it wasn't as if her family didn't have money. But, it was the exchange rate that gave her the most trouble. Combine that with her inability to travel to Diagon Alley readily, she naturally had trouble buying her books. After all, it would require several days for her to actually obtain every book she needed. In her first year, she still missed several books before she came to Hogwarts. It required a lot of effort, but she eventually managed to buy the remainder. Even now, in her fifth year, she still managed to have some form of trouble. After thinking for a few moments, Meg realized that she did not have all of the books that she needed in her possession. She shook her head lightly at Adrienna's question. "Not all of the books, but thankfully, I have some," she commented. She failed to mention that she managed to get the books for the classes that she actually liked. While, the others seemed to be a bit out of her grasp. In her previous years, Meg would usually go by herself to buy the remaining books that she needed. Or, she would order them. Either way, she would obtain those books. At Adrienna's question, she smiled. It would always be easier to do with someone else, rather than by herself. Skip to next post Re: [Sept. 1] Finally Back Home [OPEN] Reply #6 on December 27, 2009, 09:19:55 PM ”Not all of the books, but thankfully, I have some.” Megan nodded, seeming relieved. Adrienna sighed deeply, “Yeah. Luckily, I have… um… an older brother, and all his old books were still in his room. Usually I just smuggle them from there, and he had all the core class books. Just not ‘Book for the Marvelous and Malicious: The Wizard Animal Kingdom’…” she paused to breathe. What a lengthy name that book had! She wondered absently how it would ever fit on the binding. “That one’s for Care of Magical Creatures. D’you suppose Professor Pratt would have one?”She shut her mouth. Wow. She didn’t believe she had ever spoken so much at once before – except maybe when she used to have heart-to-hearts with Andrew. But he was her brother, and that’s completely different. To do so now, especially to someone whom she only talked to occasionally, was a surprising accomplishment. She hoped Megan didn’t mind her little rant, but she was sure she wouldn’t. Megan seemed nice enough, anyway. Sure, she was still listening. Yet, the sound that Adrienna had someone else in her family who went to Hogwarts was another reminder on how much of a difference she had with a majority of the rest of the castle. Looking back up as Adrienna posed a question to her, Meg shrugged. "Being the Professor, he should have a copy of the textbook. Or, you could check the library," she offered to her fellow Ravenclaw. One book that she failed to buy during her trips to Diagon Alley was the Arithmancy textbook. Somehow, she managed to overlook that one while shopping for her books. "Or, you could buy it, if you'd prefer to keep the book," she added. Adrienna had always hated asking people for things, as if she wasn’t responsible or capable enough to obtain them on her own. And so, she tried to avoid asking too many favors, but she respected that there are times when one needs to ask for help and would ask if necessary. She looked up at Megan, “When are you going to get your remaining books?” Skip to next post Re: [Sept. 1] Finally Back Home [OPEN] Reply #9 on December 31, 2009, 08:40:39 PM Meg nodded in agreement to what Adrienna said. Since they were now in Hogwarts, with classes starting the next day, it would be hard to put off getting the books for any later. She would've offered more of a help to Adrienna, but she wasn't taking that class. Therefore, she wouldn't have the book. So, she was unable to attempt to help too much, and she wouldn't really know if the Professor would have the textbook.Meg tilted her head to the left as she thought for a few seconds. "Well, the Astronomy textbook, I already ordered before coming here, and it'll be coming soon. The Arithmancy book, I still need to get. That one I may look to see if it's in the library," she responded with a nod. The only thing that she needed to do, was to make sure she obtained these books before the first class for each. Since both girls were in the same year, they shared a majority of the same classes, with an exception of their electives. Therefore, it should be easy for the two of them to plan a good time to get down to the library. Since it was going to be their first day back tomorrow, most of the Professors hopefully wouldn't try to assign too much homework. Looking over at Adrienna, Meg smiled to her housemate. "Sure. Since we don't know our schedules yet, maybe tomorrow morning at breakfast we could set a time to go?" she offered. Skip to next post
