Two Fires at Hogwarts Kindle Questions

by Niobe Thursby

Hogwarts School has been set fire on two separate occasions in the last three days.  On Tuesday, September 2; and Wednesday, September 3; two separate students deliberately set fire to a greenhouse and the infirmary respectively.

The students have been identified as first year Mairead o Fearghail and fifth year Hufflepuff Darcy Bloxham.

Fortunately the fire set by o Fearghail in the greenhouse was quickly contained and the damages were negligible.  O Fearghail was disciplined internally and there were no charges.  Miss o Fearghail claims the fire was started because of a fight with another student.

"It was that Eirene girl.  Had she let it alone, the fire would have stayed on the vine.  But, she made it spread!  I made her sorry for it, though," said o Fearghail.

"It was not my fault. Mairead started it! I just, I tried to help by putting out the flames with Augamenti, but it backfired, and the professor got really mad, and we all got into big trouble," said Eirene Antonopoulis, o Fearghail's classmate.

However, the fire to the Infirmary caused irreparable damages rendering the school's only hospital wing completely disabled.  Bloxham is accused of using dangerous Dark Magic called Fiendfyre to set the blaze.  School sources suspect she learned the spell from the book and "got lucky" setting off an advanced spell like that.  Miss Bloxham was taken into custody and will likely be charged.  Her hearing has not yet been scheduled.

But questions remain as to the motives behind the serious attack.  Upon investigation of the scene the phrase "For Ollie!" was found written on the wall of the Infirmary.

"Ollie? That's Olivia Foley.  She got expelled for being a werewolf," Figaro Sellaphix, Hufflepuff fifth year, told us.  He was a housemate of both Foley and Bloxham.

While there is no proof, the Daily Prophet has reason to believe the fire was set in retaliation for the expulsion of Oliva Foley.  Foley's name had previously been kept from the press, but due to the events of this fire, have come to light.  Students at Hogwarts have formed a society to support Foley and other werewolf causes called Students Against Werewolf Segregation.  At this time, it isn't clear if Bloxham was a member or supporter of S.A.W.S.

We spoke with Head Healer and Gamekeeper at Hogwarts, Madam Tulojow Nagde.  Surprisingly, she appeared to be less concerned about the destruction of the wing than for the underlying motivations of the fire.

"The fire in the Hospital Wing was far from a surprise.  Given some of the decisions the current administration has made, some sort of retaliation was to be expected.  If those in power lead with a strong hand of intolerance, those that learn from them are likely to follow their lead and react intolerantly."

Former Hogwarts Headmaster and now Wizengamot Elder Knox Greyfriar echoed Nagde's sentiments, and offered a snippet of poetry from the muggle poet W.H. Auden.  "I and the public know what all schoolchildren learn, those to whom evil is done do evil in return."

Many students spoke out in support of Bloxham.

Trent Travis, a Slytherin seventh year said who witnessed the blaze said, "Darcy Bloxham had every right to do what she did!"

We wanted to hear straight from the Headmistress what actions we could expect from Hogwarts.  Headmistress Analiza Snark said this:

""The actions of the student were without remorse or any regard to the wellbeing of her fellow students. Furthermore it involved Dark Magic, destroyed a good section of one of the Wizarding World's most beloved institutions and was done 'in the name of' the previously expelled werewolf student. This incident only cements my belief that the actions I took were the right ones and I will continue to crack down on those that would bring harm to this school and our children inside."
