Physical Description: Standing rather tall for his age and still growing, Ferris is 5' 10½". His eyes are a dark brown matching the dark brown almost black hair which sat atop his head, his eyebrows, his arms, and legs. Ferris looks mostly like his father Istaqa and very little like his mother Beverly. The boy is known for having scrapes and bruises over much of his body for his rough housing and his desire to try something once failed even if it was numerous attempts.

With his family being from Quinn money as well as Nightwing, his dress was generally well to do. There are several different outfits that he has to wear for when he is paling around with his mates, and for when he needs to make a good impression with friends of the family. Granted he was every bit the wild child when given the free reign of schooling, Ferris can clean up well and when made to can give off an aire of superiority despite his better judgment.

Plays Quidditch for his house team, and has since his second year as a chaser. The desire to stay in peek condition has kept him jogging and running for much of his exercise regime, so that he can flight accurately and aerodynamically.

Personality Description: Down to earth is a way to describe Ferris. The boy loves to have fun, and has he gets older he continues to find the fun in the most mundane of tasks. When given the task of cleaning out the pens with his mates as a punishment for nodding off in class, there ended up being a war of the tossed pies, and not of the mud variety. Once the fun had been had however, Ferris was the first to get down and get his hands dirty to clean up the mess they made followed by a long dip in the lake.

His love for playing about can sometimes over shadow his good works. Being born of Native American blood his love for nature and animals has been well known and expected by his parents. During his childhood his father loved that his son seemed so bright when it came to the ways of the animal and plant world. Istaqa has strong desires for Ferris to continue his love for Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures into the future. However Ferris leans more towards his love for Quidditch over either for his desired career.

Ferris is a hard worker when he puts his mind towards something he sticks to it.

His family is deeply steeped in tradition, and finds that his desire to stay true to his roots grows with passing time. Ferris is strong willed, and goal minded wanting to be both the man his father is hoping to raise, as well as achieve his dreams. Energetic and friendly, Ferris seems to have a lot of fuel to his fire giving him some what of a quirky edge.

Generally has a smile on his face, Ferris hates when he feels down. The hardest thing that has been going on in his life is the deterioration of his beloved grandmother Gertrude who seems to be fading due to a broken heart. It seemed after all this time she never got over Lukas's father. The possibility of him losing his grandmother weighs heavily on him, and Ferris becomes somewhat distant when discussing the possibility.

Stubborn as an ox, once Ferris gets something in his head it is hard for him to change that opinion or first impression. This is a blessing and a curse. A blessing because he is solid on his convictions about someone, a curse because once in his bad books he tends not to think a person redeemable. The ability to shut off to people is something passed down from his father. Ferris both fears and respects his father, hoping to both emulate and out shine him in his own way. Beverly continues to be a solid influence in his life, and Ferris loves his mother very much.

History: Born to Beverly Quinn-Nightwing and Istaqa Nightwing, Ferris is of a great tradition of Nightwing wizards. His great great grandfather was a powerful shaman across the pond in America. Generations of Nightwing's were powerful with the deep magic, and their advice was sought out for many years from all over the globe. When his father was born, there had already been made the decision to bring the ancient magic with them over to assist the ministry of Magic in the UK. This had transplanted the Nightwing family to Suffolk England in time for the birth of Istaqa. His grandfather Dyami Nightwing, was made a member of the Wizengamot revered for his cool demeanor under pressure. His wife Kateri ran a potions shop in the heart of Diagon Alley giving them additional monies to keep their family afloat.

Istaqa was the great son of Dyami, known to be swift as an eagle and bright like a fox. His family saw great promise in Istaqa who did not fail their expectations for the most part. The only thing that caused his parents to shudder was his decision to marry someone from a strange family circle. The Quinn's were not known for having a simple family history or lineage. Their hopes were that their beloved son would marry a British born but Native American bred woman by the way of Nizhoni. That would not come to pass, Istaqa fell deeply in love with Beverly and the two were wed a year or so after they left Hogwarts.

For his twenty fourth birthday Istaqa was surprised to find that his wife Beverly, who worked as a medi-witch for St. Mungo's, was with child. It was a stunner, but in a good way. Beverly was always busy going back and forth from visiting her half brother Lukas, and her mother Gertrude on the Quinn family estate when she wasn't hard working at saving lives. Istaqa was an aspiring Auror looking to someday make it as a member of the Wizengamot on his own merit instead of his father's last name. The pair might not have been ready for their first and only child to come into existence, but they were not going to fight it. A child was a blessing despite the circumstances.

When he was born, Ferris Dyami Quinn-Nightwing was a screamer. Loud as the screams of a wild boar and squirming like a bag full of rattle-snakes. The child looked just like Istaqa, a spitting image to the point of being almost creepy. His mother held her tan son against her pale light skin and loved him deeply from that time on. His father was dedicated to being a great authoritarian father, strict and to the point. Ferris learned to both fear and respect his father, who was kind and soft handed to his mother but not afraid to discipline Ferris when he was out of line.

The boy was given every opportunity to advance over those around him. A governess much like his Grandmother Gertrude, was given the task to watch over him while helping his emotional growth. Both parents were often working long hours when he was growing up, so Ferris spent a lot of time playing and learning. His governess named Tess, kept her eye on the boy who was rambunctious to the core. Ferris enjoyed his toy broom, as well as his dog an English Springer Spaniel named Scout. The dog was like his brother, wherever you saw one you saw the other. Generally Scout would crawl on his belly to look around corners while Ferris was not far behind trying to sneak about their home without letting Tess, who had a deep love for witch tabloids, be the wiser.

As the boy aged into a young man, he had more interest in Quidditch and other sport. His father was growing closer to his goals of making a great name for himself in Wizarding society, and Ferris was storing away Quidditch magazines that his grandmother Gertrude snuck to him. Ferris spent his summers helping out around the Quinn family estate, keeping his gram company while his Governess was off on holiday. Gertrude gave Ferris the gift of music the summer before his tenth year, and taught him how to play the violin. At first it sounded like someone was trying to use a cat to play a wash tub, but Ferris with his great determination continues to work at the craft.

When his letter from Hogwarts arrived, Ferris was ecstatic. There had been little doubt in his mind that he would be accepted in the school of his father. What he hoped was that he would be in Gryffindor which had been known for it's bravery as well as the house of his father. The stunned eleven year old however found himself placed in Hufflepuff when things were all said and done. The shock wore off as he began to enjoy the aspects of his house. Long since known as the house of miscellaneous placement, Ferris is convinced that is not always the case. Inside Hufflepuff house, Ferris blossomed as both a quidditch player and a well rounded student. On his House team, Ferris is a chaser known for being quick reacting to bludgers and broom trickery. For his classes he has taken up Ancient Runes, Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures as his favorite courses. Though the process is slow going, Ferris continues to play his violin whenever he is set to practice in order to show marked improvement for his Grandmother whenever he returns to her house from school.

The summer before his fifth year in Hogwarts, Ferris's dog Scout passed away from old age. The blow was a hard one, as well as the possible loss of his grandmother looming around the corner. His father's parents were still in fine health, however his mother's mum had always been of the frail variety.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Loyal, hard working, and compassionate to the core. Ferris is open to challenges, enjoys the thrill of the chase, and takes defeat as a motivation factor rather than a deterrent. His pig headed stubborn nature can do him more harm than good, but Ferris is always uniquely himself the good the bad, the whatever it is still him at the end of the day.

    Writing Sample:
When the sun pooled into his bedroom, instead of being eager to sleep and forget about his Saturday like some houses, Huffle's were all over the dorm already flitting about looking for their morning activities. Ferris had hardly had the chance to get out of bed when he felt the sheets of his bed being tugged on and he was hitting the floor. His roommates were looking to get some flying done before the Slytherin's took over the pitch and irritated the living heck out of them collectively. “Right alright, I am up” he groaned rolling about in his sheets before wiping the sleep from his long dark eyelashes.

The group washed up before slipping on their respectable practice uniforms, Ferris led them up to the entrance, taking the stairs two at a time. The door to the castle always seemed so heavy on cool fall mornings when it took a little while for the young puff to get his body going. “Oi, colder than it should be,” he chuckled in a barking laugh to his mates who were already swarming about playfully.

They had a pack mentality, the Hufflepuffs had to stick together if they were going to make anything of themselves. “This is the year we take the cup,” his voice was calm and confident as his long strides brought him closer and closer to the Pitch. The sound of the grass and dirt crunching beneath his quidditch boots was like music to his ears. As a unit, they walked over to where the brooms were held and Ferris took out his Nimbus, it wasn't the latest edition but it was quality. His father didn't give him gifts without earning them first, felt it kept Ferris humble. The Nimbus had taken him almost a whole summer to earn, and he took care of it much like it was his baby.

Turning back towards the pitch he dug into the dirt a little before mounting his broom. “Here's to another brilliant year,” his call could be heard over the rest of the rowdy group as he kicked up off the ground spiraling up towards the sky grinning ear to ear.

[How Has Your Past Prepared You For This Honor?:] Ferris is a great example to the students of the lower years. Sure he can be a little rowdy at times but he attends his classes regularly even participating in the ones he finds dull. Ferris keeps his greats well above the acceptable average while playing for the House Team. He is able to keep a balance between fun and responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed.

[What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:? Being a good role model for the students of his house. Ferris is fairly easy to talk to and enjoys helping people through the challenging times of their lives knowing that his positive experiences may help those around him.

[Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle:]
(You may tell the story as if your character is telling it,
or you can write in the third person.)

While practicing at the pitch with a couple of friends, Ferris heard a cry come from the air near one of the rings. It appeared one of the people who were also in flight lost control of their broom. Granted Ferris couldn't tell what had happened from the ground, but it didn't leave him much time to react. Finishing the loop on his sneaker, he sprung into action with little more than a second thought of what he was expected to do.

Ferris hopped onto his broom and kicked off the ground spiraling in the air towards the student who was coming into focus with the decrease in space. The person was a younger girl from Gryffindor, it appeared she had gotten her shoe caught and was spiraling in a disjointed barrel roll. When she started to spin towards the ground Ferris knew he had to make his move.

Finding the best possible way to grab at the girl before she could plummet into a death roll, Ferris spun with her a bit and wrapped an arm around her waist. Gripping her hard to his chest he pulled her from her broom onto his own and straightened it up so that the girl was now on his lap and no longer in the way of danger. Once free of the other malfunctioning broom, which came loose, he brought her to ground slowly where she nearly toppled off the broom trying not to throw up from all the spinning.
