[July 16] Let the game begin [closed]

on September 08, 2009, 04:33:52 AM

Around midnight

Stumbling over the grass, his foot catching in a little hole, he laughed as he nearly fell flat on his face. Good thing he didn’t; the broom stick he held might have made a nice imprint on his forehead otherwise. He had had way too much to drink all ready, and the case of beer under his other arm that very  nearly fell down with him was a sign that he didn’t realize it quite yet. Or didn’t care. It had been a rough few weeks, though he wouldn’t argue that it was his own fault.

He was just glad that the black eye was gone. His bags had been unceremoniously packed, and he’d been rather forcibly encouraged to get out of the house as quick as he could. The flying, empty bottle of beer might have helped his decision to listen. He’d taken what he could and made it out amidst the yelling in the forefront and crying of Aidan in the background. It was the hardest thing he’d had to do, even including telling her of his infidelity.

He’d had to leave Aidan there. Just thinking about it made him want to drink a little more. It had been hard enough trying to get in touch with Fiona, though she'd been understanding enough to let him see Aidan only a week after he'd been kicked out. Maybe he'd owl to see if he could have him for tomorrow. Just needed… to sleep the alcohol off. His smile had dropped slightly but he shook his head, his body moving with each shake side to side with the unsteady steps. A few more steps and he had pushed his thoughts aside and let the alcohol work its magic.

When he was finally on the dimly lit pitch, he dropped the broom and set the case down on the damp grass. Taking in a nice and slow breath of the evening air, he grabbed a bottle as he stood back up, stretching farther back with his free hand twisting the cap off. Groaning, he grinned and licked his lips. “I don’t… You know I’m not really… great at this.” Taking a swig, he stumbled back a couple steps. Laughing with his arms out to steady himself, he shook his head and bent over again.

Picking up another bottle, he offered it to Eddie, giving him a sly wink. “Drink up so you won’t cry when you… lose…” Taking in a breath, he made a face before a belch escaped his lips. Laughing, he took another gulp. He was going to be shutting out the light in the morning. But that would be later. Something not to worry about right then. What was important at that very moment was the fact that they had broomsticks, in a practice pitch, and a case of beer.

Then he made a face and paused mid lift of his beer bottle. "Is there a flying while intoxicated thing we'll... be committing?" Eddie was the Auror, he should know the laws. And why this hadn't come up prior to then... Prior to them stepping onto the pitch with broomsticks and quidditch supplies in the midst of a drunken epiphany.

Jason, unfortunately, wasn’t the only one that began to stagger unsteadily as they drunkenly made their way onto the empty quidditch pitch. Eddie seemed very uneasy on his feet after a little too much beer and proceeded to use his quidditch broomstick as a walking aide. This prevented him from looking as much of a prat as his comrade. Besides, he wasn’t the one lugging another crate of beers under his arm while struggling to stand on two feet anyway.

Damn his head was going to hurt in the morning. The guys would enjoy making it worse at work, Ed was sure. He’d just have to avoid the boss as much as possible. Luckily his cubicle happened to be on the opposite end of the office to the den the dwarfish dragon resided in. He should be able to dodge just about enough until the hang over wore off. He’d become quite well practiced in it after all.

But the alcohol felt so good now and this was all Jason’s fault. The men had got together because the healer needed a little pick me up after he had been booted out of his house for the same reason Ed had been. Only Jason was guilty of the crime Eddie had been accused off. That had very much grated on the auror that his friend had been getting away with it until he committed the suicidal act (in Edward’s opinion) of handing himself in to his wife while Eddie hadn’t done a thing! He was allowed to look, wasn’t he?

“I don’t… You know I’m not really… great at this.”

Eddie smirked as he put his broom down and dropped down onto the wet grass himself. He spread his legs out lazily and reached for a beer. “That’s why you gotta’ be drunk first.” He grunted, slurring his words more than his thick accent usually did. Using his teeth and biting the bottle top, Eddie pulled it off, letting the bubbles sizzle to the top of the bottle neck.

It was then that Jason made the highly ludicrous and ridiculous assumption that Eddie would lose. Unfortunately for Edward and his beer, he’d just taken a large gulp of it and Ended up snorting loudly, sending the beer up his nose and making him cough violently. He pulled a face and started spitting, leaning over on the grass.

“Yer...you’re dellusi-...dellut...delusional.” That was a struggle. Words and beer didn’t mix well.

"Is there a flying while intoxicated thing we'll... be committing?"

For a few moments, Edward stared in bemusement at Jason.  How should he know? “I chase down dark wizards and murderers, Marren. Not those who appreciate a good beer and game.” Honestly what did Jason think he spent his days doing?! Hunting bunny rabbits?

Unsteadily and once again with the help of the broom, Edward rose to his feet. “As far as I’m concerned, we ‘ent doin’ nowt wrong.” He smirked before gesturing to the man. “Now get on yer broom and prepare for yer humiliation.”

Jason didn’t mind being the one to blame for the good time they’d been having all night. Even tomorrow, not that he was thinking about things that far ahead, he wouldn’t mind. Hangover and all. Because it was about having a good time, getting a little crazy with a friend, and forgetting all about their stressors in their lives. A time to let go. And had they ever. He was just glad that Eddie hadn’t taken him up on the offer to go to Hardwands. That might have been something Jason regretted. He hadn’t been there since his stag night.

He was fairly certain he had the day off, though. Maybe he had a meeting to attend… his brain was a little fuzzy on that, but he wasn’t going to worry himself too much about it. That was something for responsible, irritable Jason to deal with. Not the fun and easy going Jason that was nearly on his face in the grass laughing, possibly choking on the freshly cut blades.

“That’s why you gotta’ be drunk first.”

While he tried to figure out the meaning in that, he made a surprised face, then a stumped one, followed closely by one of sudden understanding, only to be ended with a slight frown. He had to be drunk first because he wasn’t good at it? Maybe Eddie meant he’d play better drunk. Or… who knew, really? The thought left his mind as Eddie attempted to breathe his beer. Watching him cough his lungs out, Jason was torn between helping him up, or continuing the bottle’s trip to his mouth.

In the end, he settled for a mixture. He put a hand out, as if that would help Eddie, while lifting the bottle to his lips, a breath of ‘oh…’ escaping before he took a gulp. When Eddie finally had breath in him to respond, Jason raised an eyebrow and attempted to look like he was really thinking hard. An arm leaned out as if to rest on something, only to find out a moment too late there was nothing, he stumbled and fell sideways, finally pushing himself back up with a bit of a jump. “Nuh uh.”

“I chase down dark wizards and murderers, Marren. Not those who appreciate a good beer and game.”

Staring back at Edward, Jason frowned slightly as he thought over this. He supposed, if no one was hurt, then it was just a good game and beer. Or… was it good beer and game? Why not both? Good beer and good game! Rolling his eyes, and having to take a step backwards and forwards to compensate for the off balance that threw him into, he chuckled.

“As far as I’m concerned, we ‘ent doin’ nowt wrong… Now get on yer broom and prepare for yer humiliation.”

Grumbling a few inappropriate phrases out, Jason finished his beer in a few gulps before setting it beside the case he’d carried out, leaning over at the waist with his hands on the grass as he slowly but surely felt his way to his broom. Finally grasping it, he took his time pushing himself back up the broom handle with the end dug firmly in the ground. Once on his feet, he grinned and held the broom up, not quite as high as he though, before hitting himself slightly in the forehead. Groaning, he staggered back before stopping, managing to hoist a leg over, laughing. “Get yer balls then. If you can find ‘em…” The double meaning should not have been missed on Eddie.

Already stood up and holding his broom tightly in his hands, Eddie watched with much amusement as Jason tried to get himself in the same position. At that moment in time, the man reminded him or Charlie, chubby little fingers feeling the ground for his toys and having to use things to haul himself up. A small smile came to his lips as he wobbled slightly and gripped the broom tighter, leaning against it. He had to stop thinking about the kids when it was drunk, it only made him sad. Especially when his mind would obviously move to Quincy...

As much as Edward tried to resist, the alcohol caused him to let out a laugh as Jason banged his head on the broom. The man couldn’t handle the broom on the ground, how was he going to be when they got up in the air? It was practically committing suicide, but if it was Jason’s choice... Eddie was too intoxicated to think about stopping him. He just wanted to get in the air. And whose idea had this been anyway? Damn Quincy would have been mad at him for this. But he didn’t need to care about that now...

“Get yer balls then. If you can find ‘em…”

Edward had already picked up the quaffle from the ground and threw it hard at Jason’s head before he mounted the broom (a little steadier than his friend as well) and kicked off from the ground, shooting into the air. Eddie grunted as he pulled back on the broom and did a sumersault in the air. Not a good idea when one is drunk as his stomach gave a lurch and his head started spinning again.

“Get a move on, I wanna’ make this quick. Beatin’ you is easy work, Marren.” He leaned forward on the broom and flew directly towards Jason, snatching up the quaffle and zooming past the healer.”

Eddie might have been laughing at Jason, what with his inability to stand on his own legs and hold a broom at the same time, but he must have had a bout of short term memory loss. Wasn’t it Eddie who had had to use his broom as a walking stick? Selective memories… Jason accepted the laugh, not really knowing why it was happening, but understanding that it was probably directed at him. He also wondered, however brief the flash of curiosity was, how his forehead would look the next day.

It was too bad Jason was too busy trying to handle the broom to watch the ball being thrown. When it hit his shoulder, he let out a yell and moved with it, rolling his arm around slowly. “Unsportsmanlike!” After a moment, his anger turned into a grin and he laughed, taking a couple steps back with the broom under him, feeling his own head spin slightly when he saw the stupid moves Eddie was trying to pull. Didn’t he know he wasn’t a kid anymore?

“Get a move on, I wanna’ make this quick. Beatin’ you is easy work, Marren.”

He realized Eddie was a lot closer than he should have been and nearly fell back on to his arse when he realized the man had zoomed at him! Blinking, a bit wide eyed, he finally pushed off the ground, a little lopsided as he settled comfortably on to the broom (or as comfortably as was afforded). Finally he moved away from the ground and hovered a few more feet in the air, resting on the shaft. “M….Maybe when you’re… sober.”

Letting out a belch, patting his stomach appreciatively, Jason grinned and sat up straight. “Come ‘ere then, ‘pretty boy.’ See if you’re still soft from your cushy office job.” Smirking, he stretched his arms and moved his knees back and forth against the shaft of the broom, forcing it to weave slightly back and forth. It didn’t really matter where the goals were; they were to the point that they’d probably had enough alcohol to lead some reasonable people to wonder how they were still standing, let alone flying.

Eddie was now finding himself wishing he hadn’t done that summersault because things started to spin very quickly around him as he hovered in the air on the broom, gripping the quaffle tightly under his arm. His stomach didn’t feel too grand either but he pushed that aside and came to the conclusion that more beer would drown that feeling and make him all better again. It usually did.

“Come ‘ere then, ‘pretty boy.’ See if you’re still soft from your cushy office job.”

Dipping his hand into his robe pocket, Eddie pulled out his wand and pointed it down at the half emptied beer bottle on the grass and summoned it up to him. He grinned. “I could never be as soft as you. Ye gotta’ be to be a nurse, right?” Lifting the beer to his lips, Eddie grinned before the broom wobbled and he grabbed hold of it with his wand hand, dropping the quaffle and spitting the beer out. Maybe one shouldn’t balance without hands after much beer...

And if only his job was cushy...It advisable to wear a bloody helmet to simply step into the office with Tamis Raynor prowling around looking for victims to harass.

Finishing the beer, Eddie tossed the brown bottle down to the grass below and summoned the quaffle back up to him. The large ball shot into the air and was caught by a large hand before being tossed at the other man on his broom. Eddie pulled his broom back and shot higher into the air before turning and heading towards a set of hoops. He always should have been a professional player. “Not gonna’ faint on me like last time, are ye?”

“I could never be as soft as you. Ye gotta’ be to be a nurse, right?”

Raising an eyebrow at that, he merely smirked. That never got old. The sarcasm was overwhelming in his brain. Watching with amusement, he laughed as the man became a bit clumsy. Not that Jason could say too much; he was still working on moving around with the broom. Stretching and nearly stumbling backwards, he gripped the broom and spread his legs out to try and steady himself. “Oiy!” Smirking once he felt more steady, he righted himself.

“You cou’n… couldn’t handle my job. I know that’s that it’s that’s what you’re saying when you put me down.” It got out eventually. Perhaps the Jason-that-Drinks shouldn’t attempt long winded explanations. He’d almost forgotten what he’d wanted to say half way through as well. “And I wouldn’t know what you have to… be to be a nurse… I’m a healer, Pratt.” Double meaning there, and he was sure Eddie knew that.

When Eddie retrieved the ball, Jason almost didn’t realize it was thrown at him. Nearly falling off the side of his broom, then juggling with it to catch it, he finally stuffed it under his arm and let out a breath. He didn’t need Eddie taking the piss right then.

“Not gonna’ faint on me like last time, are ye?”

“Not going to throw the quaffle at me head, are ye?” Smirking as he mocked his friend, he tossed the ball from hand to hand, nearly dropping it again. Moving a hand to his broom handle, he started to move forward, not quite as straight as he normally would be, going a bit too fast at first and then stopping a bit too quickly, nearly unseating himself again. Laughing at himself, he finally got within range of Eddie. “This one… this is for… the poor fools that have to deal with your ego.”

Lifting the ball in his hand up, he moved the broom to the right quickly, throwing it as hard as he could. The problem with that was that it unbalanced the man who had very little once he started drinking. Catching the broom just before he slid off to his side, he grunted and struggled momentarily to pull himself back up on it, laughing finally as he did. His brain wasn’t thinking about the consequences of if he were to fall.

Weaving back and forth, he made an over exaggerated flex of his arms, balancing with his legs and the broom. “Get your head in the game, mate!” His words slurred a bit, and the longer he weaved the more things multiplied. Where there were three rings, there are six rings. Stopping, he moved the broom backwards, towards the rings on his side. “Don’t make me come after the ball.”

The Healer was definitely struggling over his words and it only made Eddie grin broadly as he held his broom tightly. And it did take several moments to get his head around the sentence himself. Upon comprehension the auror let out a laugh and his broom twitched unsteadily again. While they were on the subject of coping with jobs, Eddie would have liked to see Jason dropped into the field with a load of dark wizards trying to curse him. Bless the healer’s blissful ignorance…

“And I wouldn’t know what you have to… be to be a nurse… I’m a healer, Pratt.”

Eddie’s grin steadily grew larger, revealing gleaming white teeth. “A healer is a man who….” Now he had to concentrate. Alcohol definitely slowed the brain. “a man who…has a woman’s job. Yer a nurse but if it makes ye feel more masc…” he frowned “manly, I’ll call ye a healer.” He winked “just for you.”

“Not going to throw the quaffle at me head, are ye?”

“Aw, the nurse thinks she’s funny.” Eddie piped up, smirking across at his mate. He got very immature when drunk and especially when his way of speaking was called up. Jason the posh git could grow up as well, though!

The ball was thrown with the force of a little girl. In fact, Eddie’s 7 year old daughter could throw better than that. She had grown into quite the strong little child, enjoying having a regular play fight and punching Daddy where it hurt. He’d have to tell Quincy to stop putting suggestions in the lass’s mind.

“Ye need to built up those muscles, mate.” Eddie retorted before letting out a belch that had been building up. He grinned proudly after before shoving the ball under his arm and leaning forward on his broom, shooting towards Jason.

“A healer is a man who…. A man who…has a woman’s job. Yer a nurse but if it makes ye feel more masc… manly, I’ll call ye a healer… just for you.”

A woman’s job? Making a face, Jason tried to bring up all his normal arguments. It seemed it was brought up often enough. “Well thanks, Pratt.” After a moment, he added on, “Though you weren’t complaining when you were last crying over a stubbed toe.” Smirking at that, he felt a bit better. At least he’d been able to get off a retort. That would be harder and harder as the night wore on. It was all in good fun, though.

“Aw, the nurse thinks she’s funny.”

Rolling his eyes, he shook his head a little, careful of how much he did. “If you would talk right.” Though he wasn’t in the best predicament to criticize right then; his words were slurring with the more beer he swallowed. More often than not, Jason was very easy going when he drank. And with Eddie, he just traded barb for barb. Better to have a good time now; the morning would come only too quickly. And not very forgiving.

“Ye need to built up those muscles, mate.”

“I threw it plenty well enough. Not my fault I couldn’t… stay on the broom.” He felt a little sullen, however brief. He had muscles! Eddie couldn’t hold down a werewolf. Hadn’t Jason had to patch him up a little after he tried? And yet Jason could. And he was fairly good at holding certain people up. Eddie couldn’t say that very often now could he? Smirking at that, he watched as Eddie ‘shot’ towards him. It was a bit slow…

“Come on, granddad!” Laughing, he shot forward to try and off balance Eddie, moving his broom as dead on to the man as possible. A little bout of chicken while playing Quidditch; why not? It didn’t seem like a bad idea right then. Plus, what was the worst that would happen? Eddie might cry. That was never fun to listen to. “The desk has made you a little slow?”

“There ent nowt wrong with the way I talk.”

“I threw it plenty well enough. Not my fault I couldn’t… stay on the broom.”

Eddie’s eyebrows rose. “Because it were totally the broom’s fault for throwing you off?” See, there was nothing wrong with the way Eddie talked! He let out a laugh, throwing his head back. Jason had never been what one called competent on a broomstick but he supposed that couldn’t be helped. The man was obviously beyond help.

As Eddie flew towards his mate, his grin grew once more at the comment. There would be serious problems if he was a granddad at his age. He was very young and attractive in fact. He’d been told so by many a pretty lady. Ahem, anyway. Eddie leaned further forward on the broom, making it go faster as Jason squared himself on and started practically shuffling the broom through the air.

So this was how it was going to play? “Very.” Eddie replied sarcastically to a comment about being slow. “All those cups of coffee and dohnuts really slow a man down.” He added while whizzing towards Jason. They were barely metres away now and Eddie was making no move to swerve out of the way and would not. 1.He was drunk and 2.He didn’t scare easily. Jason would move first and if not, they’d have a collision.

“There ent nowt wrong with the way I talk.”

“Maybe when you actually use… real words, you know.” Edward knew he had a heavy accent with quite a few incorrect words. And it got worse when he drank. And he knew it sometimes drove Jason a bit batty. Jason was able to keep himself from being misunderstood most of the time. His accent wasn’t as thick as it once was. Pride was more than likely Eddie’s problem, though.

“Because it were totally the broom’s fault for throwing you off?”

Pouting for a  brief moment, Jason glanced at the broom as if he might punish it. “Clearly it’s part of the problem…” He wasn’t bad on the broom, worse when he was intoxicated, and had been all right at school. Good enough to be on the team for two years! He didn’t stick with it his last year, though; he’d been too mowed down with school work. Still… just because he didn’t throw it all into the sport like some people on the field… didn’t mean he was a total idiot when it came to the game.

“Very… All those cups of coffee and dohnuts really slow a man down.”

Exactly. Though Jason was too concentrated to respond. He had to keep his broom straight, and was having a hard time; Eddie kept moving around! There was a reason Jason hadn’t been a seeker… and when there were two Eddie’s to try and keep up with—well. It just wasn’t going to end up well. Gritting his teeth, he tugged at the broom slightly to get on a more direct course, and before he knew it Eddie was way too close.

Letting out a “Oh sh-” before he tried to turn suddenly, the rest of his explicative was cut off in a groan as he collided with Eddie, hitting him and forcing Jason to half flip over Eddie’s broom as his momentum kept him going. Still somehow holding on to his broom, Jason was now hanging on by one leg and a hand, unsure if he’d let out a few more yells in the time it had taken for him to fall a few feet in the air. Taking in a few shallow breaths, his chest heaving, he groaned and swung himself up to grasp on to the broomstick before he lost the strength to.

Slowly he eased himself back up, feeling a little tender on his side, more so on his head. He wasn’t seeing very well either out of his left eye but figured he could shake it off. If he was hurting now… he didn’t want to contemplate what it would feel like in the morning. Shaking his head and regretting it, he leaned forward and let his head rest on the broomstick. “Gah…” Grinning, he pushed himself up and looked around for his friend. “Get us a couple of beers, mate… Eddie?”

Unfortunately for both of the men who were currently on the quidditch pitch, each of them was ridiculously stubborn. And so a collision was inevitable. Eddie was dead set on not pulling back and he was going straight for Jason. He very rarely backed down. It was dangerous territory in his line of work and he was just too damn proud.

A few moments before the two men collided, Eddie didn’t notice the fact that Jason did in fact lose the game of chicken as he tried pulling away. He was too shocked by the fact that Jason had literally rammed his broom and Eddie was tossed off his as it shot back. The broom reared and started to rock in the sky while Edward held onto it with two hands, hanging below. It was lucky for him he’d been able to grab on in this drunken state. He couldn’t really afford a broken leg.

The difficult part was now going to be getting back on the top when the man couldn’t walk in a straight line on the ground. And even in this precarious situation, Eddie couldn’t help but laugh at himself. He started to swing his body, resembling a chimpanzee swinging on a branch. Deep concentration was etched into his face as he built up the swing.

“Get us a couple of beers, mate… Eddie?”

“A little...” He couldn’t be drunk, swing, hold on for dear life and talk and the same time! “A little....busy.” He finally replied before taking a new approach and trying to haul himself up. If he let go to get his wand, he’s most surely fall.

“A little…”

Hearing his best friend’s voice made Jason let out his breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. Turning his body half around in the broom to look backwards at Eddie, he finally maneuvered the broom around as well. The worst had obviously settled itself into his head, and when he’d heard the voice… it at least let him know his godkids would have a father to play with still. Subconsciously he realized it, at least.

“A little….busy.”

Then he realized Eddie was hanging by his hands. Recalling, however hazily, how difficult it had been to get back up with his leg and one hand, he moved his broom over and grinned, positioning the edge under the swinging legs. “Oiy! Slow down there, chimp. Here… push off the edge of my broom. It’s fool proof.” At least, it sounded like a great plan. Eddie just needed something to get a little momentum to hop back on to the broom.

Jason could provide that! It was both of their faults that they’d almost been dislodged from their brooms twenty or so feet off the ground. He wasn’t very good with depth perception right now, so he couldn’t judged the distance very well. Especially with one eye swelling shut. Trying to hold the broom steady, he ran his tongue over his lips. He really wanted a beer now; so close he could taste it.

“Hurry though, Ed. I’m thirsty.” Come to think of it, he was talking a little bit stuffy. Reaching up a hand to his face, he winced. Perhaps he’d really smacked it good… No matter, as long as he could swallow his beer, he’d be all right. At least he hadn’t poked his eye out! Then he realized he couldn’t see out of that eye and frantically moved his fingers along the swollen bit of face, finally poking himself in the eye and letting out a grunt. Good, still there. Wiping away the few tears that slid out from messing with it, Jason glanced up to Eddie.

“Get your panties out of a bunch, Ed! Come on.”

Fool proof…most definitely. Eddie looked down to see where Jason had positioned his broom and he instantly regretted doing so. It was normally all right when one was on the broom and looking down but when one was precariously hanging from it in a drunken state… He couldn’t even see the floor. Eyes wide and stomach having taken an unforgivable lurch, Eddie tried to get his feet onto the broomstick below him.

Jason’s fool proof plan obviously hadn’t taken into account that when a rider was drunk, the broom didn’t tend to be very steady and Eddie’s feet were led to sway back on forth, trying to maintain a grip on the slipper stick. “Stay still, Julia!” Eddie hissed loudly as he tried to pull himself up onto the broom. It just wasn’t happening.

“Get your panties out of a bunch, Ed! Come on.”

With one last heave and a loud grunt, Eddie had managed to drag himself onto the broom. He was now lying on his front and practically hugging the broom, hoping it wasn’t about to treat him badly again. Things were starting to spin now and when his eyes tried searching for Jason, all he could see was the healer seemingly trying to circle him on the broomstick.

“I don’t want two o’ye, Jase.” He grunted as Jason (X2) now seemed to be coming towards him. Oh this was bad.

When he heard the nickname ‘Julia,’ Jason’s eyes narrowed and he jerked the broomstick slightly just for it. His brain only processed the threat, not what might happen, Merlin forbid, if Eddie lost his footing and fell down. Then again, knowing his best mate, Eddie would get up and walk it off like it was nothing. Some sort of fancy, pretty boy cartwheel or something and he’d do a little ‘ta da’ with his arms out and fingers waving like an idiot. The image in his head made him grin and he held the broom as steady as he could.

Then he felt that last heave and he let out his own grunt, gripping the broom as it sailed downward. Eddie had to be as heavy as elephant to cause that! Or Jason was just caught off guard and drunk. Either way, he nearly went over the front, sliding down the broom uncomfortably before swinging around and holding a bit too protectively to the wooden flying broom. He didn’t realize until it was too late that the dizziness and spinning feeling he had wasn’t just his vertigo. He was really moving around in the air.

“I don’t want two o’ye, Jase.”

Closing his eyes momentarily, Jason felt a little sick all of a sudden. Pursing his lips to fight the nausea, it passed with another burp. Groaning, he finally opened his eyes and worked on slowing down. Once he was good, he pushed himself back up slowly, glancing around out of his good eye and finally seeing Eddie. “You’d love two of me.” He grumbled a bit and fixed himself, making a face as he rearranged. That little slide down the handle wouldn’t feel very good later. A little broom burn. Now he remembered why he hadn’t been keen on continuing Quidditch past Hogwarts.
