Although very good at wand-aided spells, Quincy often finds that her own passion and rage gets passed onto her wand, and sometimes the results are less than desirable. The wand is rigid to use and has a spiralled shaft. The handle of the wand is shiny and jet black.Physical Description: Unlike her 'petite' mother, Quincy is tall, inheriting this stature from her father, but with her mother's dark, glossy hair. However, it is apparent to everyone who knows the St.James’, that Quincy is her mother’s daughter – their faces have an uncanny resemblance, both having large, inquisitive green eyes and long sweeping eyelashes. Her skin is a fair tone of olive. She is fair normally, but when she spends time in the sun she tans easily. Her hair is long and thick and she tends to wear it down unless she is at work which requires her to tie it up. It is naturally wavey, and she considers herself lucky that she is able to leave it to dry naturally and it looks half decent.Much as though she has had three children she has been lucky to have an average body with minimal effort. She is curvaceous and has a small mole just below her left hip. She has a tattoo which not many people know about. She didn’t get it to be on show, but for her own personal reasons.Quincy wears glasses when reading, but does not need to wear them normally. She dresses casually when not training at work, but likes to get dressed up in fancy clothes when going out.Personality Description: With her mother's loyalty and her father's bad temper, Quincy is a completely different person from one moment to the next. She is the kind of woman who sees herself as totally independent and in need of nobody. She doesn't take crap and will not hesitate to argue down someone who takes it upon themself to annoy her. However, she has a soft side that not many people see. Her children are her life, and much as though they can be a royal pain in the bum sometimes, she wouldn't let them get in harms way, even if it meant laying her own life on the line. Her relationship with her husband is a whole different kettle of fish, however, as the pair bicker endlessly and seem to take solace in tormenting each other. However, it is clear to most people who know them that they are well suited to each other and that this is their own little way of saying 'I love you'.History: When Jocelyn Moyles left school at seventeen, she fell in love with a young man by the name of Alexander St.James. Two years later at the tender age of nineteen Jocelyn fell pregnant. Although a shock, Jocelyn and Alexander were ready for this challenge, and both were extremely pleased. Though it was rushed, no expense was spared for the marriage of Joss and Alex – Joss had her fairytale wedding, with her close-knit family and friends, and her beautiful gown. The tiny bump that made an appearance at that wedding soon grew fast, and after nine months of Jocelyn’s aching back and tired feet, then twenty-seven gruelling hours of labour, Jocelyn and Alexander’s baby daughter was born into the world – Quincy Cole St.James.Quincy was a charming little girl, with bouncing white-blonde curls and large, inquisitive eyes. It almost seemed that Quincy would take after her father, having blonde locks. However, as this baby grew, her hair darkened to a warm, rich brown like her mother's. For a long time, her proud parents thought she would never walk by herself, as she always held out her chubby little arms to be carried, though they never had the heart to say ‘no’. She – like her mother – had a stubborn streak, and often played host to temper-tantrums.From a young age, Quincy was taught at home. Until she was eleven and was able to attend Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, her mother taught her all of the necessary theoretical work involved with magic. By the time Quincy was due to start school, she was already excelling in potions, having been the only non-magic based practical she was able to participate in at home. When Quincy left for Hogwarts at eleven years old, her mother was distraught – she and Alexander had so desperately wanted another baby, but they had not been granted with their wish – they felt unduly lucky to have taken the parenting opportunity when they had been given it, and had relished in every moment it had brought. Now, they were being forced to say goodbye to the only child they had, for seven years – by which time, Quincy would have grown into a young woman and would be making her own way in life. Of course they would see her in the holidays, but to Jocelyn that was not enough. Joss knew how much she had missed her own mother while she had been at school, and only hoped that her own daughter would feel the same.At Hogwarts, Quincy was placed in Slytherin house, like both her mother and father had been. She very quickly established a place in the hierarchy of the house, and was seen as a prominent member. Her mother hadn’t told her about her own experiences in school as she was curious as to whether Quincy would follow the same path. She did. As unlike her mother as she was in appearance, Quincy was everything her mother had been in personality. Flirtatious, wild, intelligent and with an angry streak, Quincy made enemies as well as friends. She was warm and loving to her friends, but cold and harsh to her enemies, and her skills in potions made her a dab-hand at spiking people’s food and drinks. The biggest bane of her life at school had been Edward Pratt. He annoyed her all of the time, called her names, played pranks on her and was a general nuisance. But they were inseparable and stayed best friends throughout their time at Hogwarts. In their second to last year, they realised that their relationship went far deeper than friendship. People had made jokes about it in the past, suggesting that they acted like a married couple, but the pair always laughed it off claiming they were 'just friends'. They were just too young to realise that what they had was more than a normal friendship.Quincy's parents didn't mind the fact that Eddie was a half-blood. Eddie got on well with Quincy's father Alexander, and her mother could see that - although they bickered a lot - the two were very suited to eachother. Blood purity was not something that her parents considered important, unlike the rest of the St.James'.After they graduated from Hogwarts, the pair immediately made plans to go and see the world. Off they set with their eyes truly open to the world around them. They visited as many countries as they possibly could and packed so much into what seemed like such a short amount of time - it was in fact two years. When they returned from their travels the pair decided it was time the started focussing on their careers. They bought a small flat on the outskirts of London from which Quincy would travel every day to St.Mungo's while she trained to be a healer. She loved the thought of becoming a healer and always had. Potions had always been her strongest academic subject, and she had known from an early age that this was what she wanted to do with her life. Ed had always thought he would go into professional quidditch. He got himself signed up with an agent and tried out for some teams, but had no luck. He later admitted that if he had wanted to do this seriously, he should have done it straight from school. And that's how it went for the next year and a half - Quincy brought home a Healer-In-Training wage to pay the rent, bills and feed them, and Eddie looked for a team that would take him on.When Eddie and Quincy were 21, however, their whole world was not so much turned upside down as spun round and round in circles. Quincy was pregnant. This was an enormous shock for both of them. He blamed her, she blamed him. He acted as though his life had fallen apart. She was quick to remind him that he hadn't worked in four years and it was about time he pulled his finger out of his arse and got a job.So Eddie enrolled to train as an auror. The couple decided it was onlt right that they should get married. Quincy's parents paid for the wedding, as she was their little girl, their only child and they wanted this day to be the day of her dreams. And it was. She got the white dress and all the trimmings that came with it. It was a mirror of her own parents' wedding.Eddie decided that his new budding family needed a bigger home. He also decided much to Quincy's disappointment that they should move up north to Yorkshire and back to his roots, stating that he didn't want to raise their child in the city. Reluctantly, Quincy allowed all of their belongings to be packed away and shipped off to a new house in the tiniest, most secluded village Quincy had ever seen - Easingwold, North Yorkshire.A few months later their baby boy was born. The pair called their son Noah Edward. They chose Noah because being young themselves, their child had to have a cool-sounding name to make up for the fact that...well, he was their child. They gave him the middle name Edward after his dad - Quincy hoped that giving him the same middle name would create a bond between the two. She didn't realise just how much Eddie was going to fit right into fatherhood. The most worrying thing about this time was not the fact that she was a young mother, but that the war was taking place. Not only had she brought a child into possibly the most dangerous times the wizarding world had faced, but her new husband and the father of her child was training to be an auror. This meant that he was having to fight in the war without having had all of the training he should have. But the fact that he was off doing something, and she was stuck in looking after a young baby in a village where the most exciting thing to happen was the local farmer's sow having piglets, was taking its toll. She got by though, and after not too long she managed to come across another wizarding couple who had moved out into the neighbouring village to escape the wrath of Lord Voldemort. The other couple were not too much older than themselves and also had a young family.Eddie finished his training and became a fully fledged auror just as the war was ending and the aftermath of the destruction was being cleared up. The couple decided that they were ready to have a child that wasn't created by accident. When Noah was nearly four, they found out she was expecting again. This time, the news was not as much of a shock and the couple were able to enjoy the pregnancy instead of worrying about money, houses and getting married. Eddie was attentive throughout the whole pregnancy and seemed to tone down his anger quite a lot in case he stressed his wife out. Quincy gave birth to a girl, who they named Natasha Marie.Once again, Eddie was back out into the wide world earning money to support his family while Quincy stayed at home looking after a four year old and a new born baby. This was a dark time in Quincy’s life. Boredom led her to begin resenting her husband and his life outside of their small cottage. The arguments were becoming bigger, longer and closer together. She would nag him for the fact that they never had any spare money, and he would argue that she didn’t have a job which was part of the reason. This hit Quincy hard, as she assumed that being a stay-at-home mother was better for her children and for their bank balance, as they wouldn’t have to pay for child care.Although they argued a lot, the couple loved each other too much to let it really get to them, so this carried on for a few years until Eddie suggested they tried for another child. By this time he had made a name for himself as an auror and was earning more than he had been. Quincy agreed, thinking that having another child would help the pair to grow closer. In 2006 Quincy gave birth to their second son, Charlie Alexander, the middle name taken from her father. Although both parents doted on all three of their children, it was obvious that cracks in their relationship were not going to be cemented together by procreation. The fact that Quincy was tired all of the time from looking after an eight-year old, a four-year old and a newborn baby, and that Eddie was spending more time going out with his friends after work to get away from his home life seemed to be the final straw. When Charlie was only one year old, Quincy and Eddie had the argument to top all arguments. Quincy packed Eddie’s bags for him and told him to leave, stating that she was filing for a divorce. After that, things were bitter between the two, and they are awaiting their divorce papers coming through and being finalised. She finally decided that she needed to do something for herself, and re-enrolled on the healer training she had been unable to complete ten years earlier. What is your occupation? How do you go about it?: Quincy is a Healer-In-Training. She decided she wanted to become a healer at a very young age, but due to circumstances she was unable to complete her training after school. During her training, she has to spend a few months in each department, then at the end of her training she specialises in whatever area she would prefer to be in.She is a mothering kind of person which suits her to this job well. But she also stands by her own opinions and doesn’t let herself get talked down by anyone, allowing her to be good at dealing with awkward patients and their families.Writing Sample:[The Pratt Family Cottage, Easingwold, North Yorkshire; 2007]Quincy was stood at the top of the staircase, her wand in her right hand and her left hand perched on her hip. Her right foot was tapping on the wooden step in annoyance and her eyes were narrowed at the front door at the bottom of the stairs. Three suitcases were beside her on the landing, fastened hap-hazardly, with some clothes still poking out here and there as though they had been shoved in without even thinking about folding them up neatly. When one was kicking one’s husband out of the house, one didn’t think about anally folding underwear. She heard the unmistakable click of the key in the door, and Eddie’s goofy face poking round the side as he came in with a bunch of flowers. Quincy didn’t even notice the flowers as she sent the first of the suitcases hurtling down ensuring it hit her unsuspecting husband in the chest before he’d even had a chance to finish greeting her.Immediately she sent another suitcase following the first, hoping that this time she’d get his head or his man-parts. “What are you doing woman!?” He yelled as he dodged the second suitcase with some skill. She had forgotten that he had to be able to dodge things easily, as he spent most of his work life dodging spells. “You must think I was born yesterday!” She screamed at him, her face turning red with anger. She picked up one of his shoes that had fallen out of the second suitcase and hurled that down the stairs too. “I ‘ent missed your birthday have I?” Was this guy for real? Her eyes widened and she laughed in disbelief. “My birthday!?” She hissed. “Is that your idea of a joke? You think I’d be acting like this if you missed my birthday!?” It was fortunate for the couple that the kids had been shipped off to their grandparents for the night. Quincy had gotten dressed up in Eddie’s favourite nurse’s outfit to surprise him when he’d come home from work. She’d cooked him his favourite meal, got a bottle of wine. Only to find that he arrived home from work four hours after he should have, with no warning from him.It was the final straw in a very long line of unbreakable straws. This was the scenario all too often – Eddie would stay out at work so that he didn’t have to come home and face up to his responsibilities.“I…got held up at work.” Quincy felt her blood boil at this blatant lie as he held up the flowers in a pitiful attempt at reconciliation. “Diffindo!” She shouted, her wand aimed at the squashed flowers. The petals began to tear from the stems and fly all around as gravity forced them to fall to the floor. "Don't lie to me." She said, her voice now quiet and weak as a solitary tear began to snake its way down her cheek. She lowered her wand to her side, shaking with rage. There it was. The truth. He’d been to the pub. He was admitting it. But if he was going to lie about something as trivial as that, what else had he lied about? And an apology? Ed never apologised for anything. Quincy looked away from her husband and closed her eyes as though in pain. A couple of seconds passed before she opened them again and focused on the last suitcase. “Wingardium Leviosa.” The suitcase lifted up off the floor, and Quincy directed it down the stairs a little more cautiously than the previous two and let it drop to the floor at his feet. She looked at her husband with as little emotion as she could show. She flicked her wand at the door causing it to swing open on its creaky hinges. “Let me get the door for you.”Sum up your character in one paragraph: Quincy doesn’t take crap from anyone, especially her husband. She has a dry sense of humour and is very headstrong and independent. She dotes on her children and wouldn’t let any harm ever come to them, and much as though she doesn't like to admit it outloud, she loves her husband more than anything in the world. They were young when he came into their world, but they never regretted one moment of it. Both his parents and grandparents doted on this little boy, and he played up to this by being a complete bundle of joy. When he was born, Noah had blonde hair like his dad. Quincy saw this as a good thing, as she had worried about how Eddie was going to fit into the father role, and whether he was going to take to fatherhood well. There was no problem, as Eddie was the best dad in the world. However, when Noah was around two years old, his hair started to darken, until it was as dark as his mothers. This irritated Eddie a little bit, as he wanted his son to look like himself. Noah did, however, have green eyes like both of his parents.Noah is now ten and one year away from going to Hogwarts. He is good natured, kind and caring. He loves animals but takes after his dad in that he is an avid quidditch fan and player. Natasha Marie PrattThe Pratt's second child and only daughter, Natasha, is now six years old. Up until the age of three, this little girl had white blonde curls, and the couple were sure that she was going to take after her dad. However, her hair changed dramatically and is now the darkest of browns, like her mother's was when she was younger. Once again, Eddie was put-out, as he thought this child was going to have his features, but once again their child took after her mother. Her eyes are blue, unlike both parents who have green eyes. However, Quincy's father has bright blue eyes, and it is assumed that Natasha got hers from him.Natasha is at the age now where she is starting to realise that she is different from her brothers. She is starting to play with her mother's make-up, and dress up in her clothes. She takes after both parents with her stubborn streak and her enormous temper. She has just started to throw temper tantrums when she can't get her own way, but her parents aren't the kind to just let her have whatever she wants.Charlie Alexander PrattCharlie was the couple's second son. He was born at an unfortunate time in their relationship, as serious cracks were beginning to appear then. When he was only one year old, the couple divorced and his father moved out. Like the other two children, Charlie was born with blonde hair like his father. Eddie hopes that this one will retain his father's features, as he is desperate for a son who looks like him. At two years old he still has the bright blonde hair, and it was at this time that Noah's hair started to darken. This is a good sign, as it suggests that Charlie is in fact going to be blonde. Charlie does, however, have green eyes like both of his parents. Re: Quincy Cole Pratt: Healer-In-Training Reply #3 on September 24, 2009, 10:19:43 AM Next of KinNoah Edward PrattEddie and Quincy's first child. Skip to next post
