Midday

Ligeia did not have the time off to fully petrify herself. However, she effectively had the sleep of the dead without the requisite potion. The fifty-odd hours from departing her last shift to today's was certainly grounding. And reflective that she really hadn't been professional with Mr. Hollingbury in regards to her misfired research project.[1]

But that was past and duty called. Dwell too long on the past and you'd only look forward long enough to realize you were stepping into your grave. That was Ligeia's motto. Not at all, not even a family motto, but it did give her ideas for needlework.

There was always plenty to do in the hospital. Not just attend the patients, such as Miss Bythesea in long term recovery Ligeia saw on her rounds. There was at least a singular ghoul, if not more, and the liquefied remains of the (thankfully) already deceased. The simple task of comparing those cadavers missing from the morgue to the remains of the ghoul's feeding was deceptively complex. In part because of the liquefied assemblage of the recovered samples. This went beyond most means of testing, including the Bloodwork Case.

Which is why Ligeia's assistance to her floor's Head Healer was preparatory. Cleansing the lab, continuing processes, gathering initial reports. What pittance of references she could find for the type of ghoul within the hospital. She lowered a large, framed magnifying lens with her wand, in case she tired of her glasses.

"There, everything in its place," Ligeia said finally, smartly dressed in her healers' robes with thin gloves. Almost. "Not you, the stench is strong enough to kill blue bessies, who knew?" She picked up the small pot of decayed spice-scented flowers. Ligeia didn't always fancy their bright color but the horrid stench from the ghoul's stewed lunch had permeated various means to contain it.
