Job & Description:

Socialite and full time ‘mother’. The term ‘mother’ is to be used very lightly, as she does not exactly care for her children in the maternal sense. Her son is fully grown and no longer lives at home, and her daughter is heading into her last year of Hogwarts. When at home, her daughter fends for herself most of the time as she has done from a young age.


Physical Description:

Persephone is petite with long, dark glossy hair and large blue eyes. She is slim and her face has a pinched look to it making her seem like a severe person. She often wears her hair pulled back off her face quite tight which stretches her skin and in turn makes her look slightly younger than her years.


Personality Description:

Persephone is strong willed and very persuasive. She is decisive and powerful, as are all of the Deadly-Nightshade women. She is ruthless and cunning like a typical Slytherin and she holds a grudge for a long time. She can be a jealous woman and is very dangerous when she is jealous. She passed this trait onto her daughter. She is extremely independent and does not need anyone in life. She focuses on number one, never truly caring about anyone else as long as she herself is ok.


History:

Persephone was born into both wealth and purity. Her family had been dabbling in the dark arts for centuries, and when Persephone was born, the oldest of two girls it was made clear that she would be married into another pureblooded family.

The 1970s were the years when Voldemort began to recruit followers. At the age of ten, Persephone’s parents thought her old enough to be told exactly how they positioned themselves in life. With that came the news that her father had been recruited as a Death Eater. The pride Persephone felt at such a young age was that which could not be stifled by anyone or anything.

Not even her father’s capture and imprisonment along with Igor Karkaroff and various others in Azkaban, in the early months of 1980 dampened her beliefs that Voldemort was to be their saviour.

In the October of 1981, Voldemort was defeated by a baby by the name of Harry Potter. Persephone was in Hogwarts at the time, but never stopped believing that the Dark lord would be avenged one day, and those of non-pure blood would pay.

Things were quiet on the Dark front for a few years. She was married to Nathaniel Grosvenor, a rich pure-blooded wizard that she had spent her time at Hogwarts with. He was a lawyer and was content with being the provider of their new family, which suited Persephone perfectly. Persephone’s father died in Azkaban in 1987, a mere two months before she gave birth to her first child. Finnley Felixis Grosvenor III, named after his paternal grandfather.

Persephone had never pretended to be maternal, so from the day he was born, her son was left in the care of a nanny. Persephone barely saw her son while he was growing up, preferring to keep herself hidden away in her room reading books from all walks of life.

In 1990, Persephone was dismayed to discover she was expecting her second child. In 1991 she gave birth to Ava. She took even less interest in her second child than she did in her first if that was even possible – what did she need another child for? She already had a healthy son as an heir to the family name. And a girl? A girl was good for nothing, except making connections. As with Finn, Ava was pawned off on a nanny for complete care around the clock.

When Harry Potter defeated Voldemort once and for all, Persephone felt as though her whole world had fallen apart. Everything she had been working towards had been for nothing – her well-matched marriage, her son. All for nothing. She became a recluse, no longer taking solace in dining with friends and reading. She isolated herself from everyone around her including her husband who – by this time – had grown so used to being alone, he had found comfort in other womens’ arms.

Persephone caught wind of an uprising of purists. At this news she perked up and no longer alienated herself from the world. Through contacts she had known years ago, she discovered the man responsible was one  Cináed Tawse and began to contact him about his plans for the future. This would be the beginning of the end.

Persephone is the epitome of cool and collected, but with a slice of jealousy which can overtake everything else in a flash. She is not adverse to using blackmail to get what she wants, and once her mind is settled on something it tends not to change. She has no natural maternal instinct and cares more about furthering herself and the advancement of pure blood than caring for her family.
