Dear Healer Misslethorpe,

Thank you ever so much for helping my cousin Eta in Hogsmeade at the weekend. It was a relief to bump into you and have some professional healing help.

I was really fascinated by some of the spells you used and have spent some time looking them up in the school library since. I have a particular interest in charms, and one day I hope that I might pass all my exams so I can become a healer too.

Next year I will take my OWL exams. Along with charms, transfiguration, potions, herbology and all the other core subjects I am also studying runes, arithmancy and muggle studies. I am working hard to maintain my marks across all my subjects, but especially those which may be most useful to study to a NEWT level.

I would really like to be able to get some experience in healing as soon as possible. I know I am still a little young, but I work hard, and I am available in the holidays. I understand you are the Deputy Head Healer at the hospital and may be able to point me in the right direction to arrange this.

In the meantime I hope to offer some assistance to Healer Prince in the Infirmary here. If there is anything else you would recommend, I would be grateful to understand.

Many thanks for your support sir.

Dear Tim,

Thank you for your letter. It was a pleasure to assist you and Eta. I hope her injuries no longer trouble her.

I am overjoyed to hear you have a keen interest in healing. It is a noble and stable profession. We shall always need healers rain or shine. Your efforts with your studies will be an excellent foundation for your career. Pay special focus to charms, transfiguration, potions, defense against the dark arts and herbology. These are invaluable. A knowledge of creatures is good assistance too. I would recommend reading around the subject in absence of studying it.

You will need at least five N.E.W.T.s, with a high mark of either 'Outstanding' or 'Exceeds Expectations' in potions, transfiguration, herbology, charms, and defense against the dark arts.

I have attached an application form for hospital work experience. I would be pleased to receive your application.

I also include a list of recommended books. Flourish and Blotts and other book sellers should stock these or order them in for you if the Hogwarts Library does not.

I await your application.

Kind regards,

A. Misslethorpe
