[Mar 5] Our Life is March Weather (OPEN)

on January 30, 2021, 08:52:47 AM

Andromeda Gamp burned a hole over February 14 in her calendar. The paper smoked. March glimpsed through. She turned it over. February could do one. Her desk was covered in memos. Envelopes. Notes. Files. Someone had messed up her stuff. Looking for something. She scowled. Her wand fizzed. She seized something.

30 minutes later she found her desktop. Banished 2 cups of moldy coffee. Burned 43 pointless memos and 4 letters advertising amulets. She dumped 7 letters on other desks where someone might give a shit and put 3 get well cards in the paper basket. Then took them out again. Secretly touched.

She blew her cheeks out. Drummed her fingers on the clean desk. Wanted to get in early to clear her head. Sort her desk. Avoid a scene. Before she saw Pratt or Carstairs. This was her first day back. She had spent a few days in St Mungo's. Impaled on a magical umbrella. Complications. A few days furious. A few days sulking. A few more days accepting she had to rest.

Ceph had carried on working. Ri had decided not to come home. Mother was in Mysteries. Father was... an umbrella. Andie had not known whether to laugh or cry when she heard. Now she was better. She had to get back on the broom.

Voices. Andie sat back up in her chair. Looked over the top of her cubicle. Day shift had arrived. A trainee better make her coffee.

Gris peered in slowly, she'd come in late for a change, well, it was still early, but it was later then normal for her. It was a shame after an actual weekend off and happy, she had to go back into work, but she wasn't going to be able to afford vodka at the end of the week, and to be honest, what was the point if you couldn't get vodka, incredibly drunk, wake up, hate yourself, and repeat it cause it was fun?

One of the older Auroras was back, Andromeda she believed, she hadn't seen her in awhile, she didn't know the full details but she knew she was in hospital being tended for, which sounded horrifying, hospitals were horrifying, they were creepy and she didn't like the idea of being locked in one for a month to recover. Although she might of gotten home earlier and still had to be off for the month.

She had prowled her way to the kitchen in cat form to avoid being spotted, coming in this early she likely didn't want the attention, but as a Trainee Auror, and the other woman being a full Auror. She knew where her priorities were. She had to make coffee. It was the natural order of the office.

Turning back to normal she gently heated the pot, by now the coffee orders were ingrained to her mind, even when she becomes a full Auror, she will remember all the orders. Black with one sugar.

"Hey, I made you coffee." She said quietly as she placed it down delicately onto the desk for Andromeda, hopeful she didn't catch her at a bad moment. "One sugar, just be careful, its hot." She felt the need to make a teasing comment, but she wasn't sure it was the right ti- "Although I think you're sweet enough." She winked.

Hericho was approaching. Four o'clock. Coffee. Check. Andromeda prepared herself to be leaned over. Gris was cheery. Always remembered the way to make Andie's coffee. The trainee left the coffee on Andie's clean desk. They got so close Andie caught the smell of Hericho's favorite lime shampoo. The coffee overtook it in an instant.

Andromeda was about to nod thanks when Gris said she thought Andromeda was sweet enough. The Auror jerked to a stop. Frowned. What? Auror Gamp was not sugar and spice and all things nice. The last time anyone called her sweet it was sarcasm. Was Gris being sarcastic? It was a wink. Joke. Joke that she was not sweet? Or just trying to be funny?

She was frowning hard. Like she could hex Hericho. Then it vanished. She let go of her frown. Shook her head. Gris was one of the better trainees. She was older than the others.

"I have been off work too long. You forgot who I am and I am wearing my real face." Andromeda was a metamorphmagus. She did not use it for comedy. She used it for her job. Andromeda sounded grumpy. She regretted it. "Hey. Look. Thank you." She leaned back in her chair. "Now tell me what you know about this?" She gave Gris a crumpled memo dated last week. "Says there was a griffin in a suitcase on Level one."

She was about to die wasn't she? She shouldn't of said that, now she knows how Hagrid felt repeatedly except this time it could lead to her death, which to her, was far worse then the other potential deaths that may of happened due to Hagrid saying too much. She hadn't heard much about any of that trio in a long time now so she just guessed they were enjoying the Bahamas and sipping cocktails out of coconuts.

But just as she was prepared to face the flashes of her life before her it seemed Andromeda had relaxed, or perhaps just realized it wouldn't be worth going to Azkaban over Gris, which was true, she didn't figure herself being worthwhile of prison, its probably one of the lower down reasons honestly.

"Or perhaps you forgot what I'm like?" She replied cheerfully as if that was something to be celebrated. She regretted it but she couldn't help but shoot a cheery smile at her. "And you should use your real face more, its cute." She said happily, she was being thanked! Something must of happened to her in that hospital!

She read the memo and nodded softly. "Ooh, I'm not too sure on what the incident was, from what I heard Level One had a Griffin arrive in a suitcase, but they managed to contain it. The Ministers assistant reported it, the handsome one, stern looking." She nodded, it wasn't much to go on but she knew barely anything about ministry positions higher then herself. Other then they had money and she wanted a new bed.

"Abbott?" Could not have been Holmes. "You give me the boring details." Teased Andromeda. "No guts. No glory. Disappointing Hericho." Andie folded her arms. Sat back. Looked Gris up and down. She was too perky for a Monday morning. Full of niceties. What did she want? What had she not done?

"Arrested anyone lately?" Andie asked. "If you do not know about griffins. What do you know?"

"The guts are the worst part." Gris said with a small pout, she was glad the Griffin didn't spill any guts, that'd be horrible!

Now who she's arrested, that was another matter, gossip was always good. She lived for gossip, and slept for it really as that's how she heard most of it.

She folded her arms and leaned onto the desk a little, not enough to move anything luckily, she was lithe, sneaky, silent as a cat, even if her cat form was a rather big one the size of a dog. She had been gone for about a month right? So what gossip was worthwhile telling at the moment, she wondered if she knew about Donovan Yates and Jessica Yardlow...

"There's a new Hit-Witch, her name's Tara, she worked in Australia. Not spoken to her, she looks fairly scary. Lots of scars." She started with. "Donolow." The official office ship name for Jessica and Donovan, although that might of only come about in the last month... "Have broken up, something about not watering sunflowers was the main argument and it spiraled out. I give them a week."

"And my only arrest has been a guy who thought he was invisible but his clothes weren't. Otherwise I'm still a trainee, not allowed to arrest incase it makes you lot look bad." She said with a teasing grin.

"That was lucky." Said Andromeda. "Wonder if it was the same guy who thought he was invisible but it was only his clothes that were." Arresting a walking set of garments protected modesty. She cared less about sunflower breakups. The information about the new hit-witch was committed to memory.

"Good. Good. Nobody's turned Carstairs into a duck? Or sent Pratt into a rage?" Maybe she had not missed all that much. Andromeda sipped the coffee. "Not bad Hericho. Good to have something to fall back on." She pointed to the coffee. Making a joke. "What is your schedule for today?" Asked Andromeda. "You working a case with someone?"

She was being praised! She visibly got much happier at the praise, it was praise from a full Auror!

"Sadly nothing so interesting, I've been along for a desecrated grave, and a few days ago went to Cornwall about missing children." She still needed to fill in some stuff for that she thinks, but it wasn't much anymore so that was very, very good.

Softly she crossed her arms with a small smirk at her, being asked if she was busy today or working on anything, she wondered where she was trying to lead with this, especially as it was the early morning still.

"No, I'm free for today, why? Wanted to ask if I was free to go for drinks tonight?" She said in a happy tone, the smirk widening. "The answer is yes if you were wondering."

Andromeda stared at Gris. They were talking. Yes. But this was too forward. She needed reminding she was a trainee.

"Here is a pile of things to file." Said Andromeda. Handed Gris a stack of heavy files. "Then this is a list of things to fetch." She slapped the list on the top of the pile. "Then if you are good. Maybe I will take you out this afternoon. On a case."

She grabbed her coffee. Swung around and referenced the moon phase on her calendar.

She held out her hands to take the paperwork, sighing softly, of course she'd give her more work, why wouldn't she? She was a full Auror after all so she can't expect her to be completely nice. It was a fair amount of it but she can get it done, she had alot of time to do it, just means it messes up her schedule a little. The promise of going out on a case after was a good promise.

"Yes Ma'am." She said with a wink, holding the work firmly she spun around. "Just shout when you want more coffee. I'll start on this and I promise to be a good girl."

Gently she headed over to a desk she liked to claim as her own to start earning her bread.
