Her eyes are her most striking feature. Just like her mother they are bright blue with dark outlines to her irises. She has a narrow nose and a pale complexion. She has a mole below her eyebrow at the top of her nose on one side. To cover it Meredith wears a little makeup. She wears small earrings and two thin finger rings.
Meredith is short like her mother. Her father is very tall. Her mother has lectured Meredith many times on eating healthily. If Meredith comes home from Hogwarts looking at all fat her grandmother presses her to drink disgusting diet potions.
Her family like her to dress formally. Her maternal grandmother has a favorite tailor. She takes Meredith there every summer holiday. She pays for a set of tailored formal robes. Meredith tolerates the fuss. It is nice to have formal robes for meeting wizarding people. On these occasions she will wear her hair up in a bun and even a pointed hat.
On a Hogwarts weekend she would much rather dress like the muggles she sees in London. Now she has her mother's permission to venture into the Muggle world alone. She saves her allowance to buy clothes in London. There she favors pale pastel colors.
Personality Description: As a friendMeredith can prefer to work alone. She has grown up as an only child. Being alone is not unfamiliar. She does enjoy chatting to people and making friends. She pays attention to others and has good observation skills. Meredith is compassionate, understanding and caring. She is perfectly pleasant to know and befriend from any house. She will help you with your homework if it means you can hang out after. She is good at motivating. She can inspire others to achieve especially if they are doing something different to her. She is patient.
Realist. She does not indulge in dreams about her future. She would not enter a lottery. She sees life as a series of steps or doors. Or even snakes and ladders. Sometimes she is blunt with friends who enjoy supposing. She can be accused of pessimism. Sometimes this is just because she is finding it hard to see the other person's point of view. Meredith can find it hard to communicate her innermost feelings.
As an opponentBetter a friend than her enemy. Meredith is not above exaggerating and stretching the truth, especially to professors or to get out of trouble. She will try to justify her mistake and blame others rather than admit her failure. She has been known to drop a classmate in it for revenge, and the odd rumor could have originated with her. She is not overt or aggressive. Not one who would draw her wand to settle a dispute. More likely to seek revenge in quieter means.
As a studentMeredith is above average in intelligence. She works hard at school. When she is intrigued by the subject matter. She enjoys research and has great attention to detail. Her school notes are kept very well. Meredith keeps good relations with her teachers. She puts her hand up in lessons. She turns homework in on time. If she was disinterested in a subject she did the minimum. She worked on homework for another class. If a classmate struggles then she looks down on them and pities them.
When she achieves something she would like everyone to notice. She is unafraid of the spotlight. She is tough on herself to get things right when they matter to her. She drives hard and can be quietly competitive. Meredith can get very anxious. This is caused by her inner critic. It always asks if she is good enough. She suffers from periodic insomnia. She lost a lot of sleep during her OWL exams. She tries to hide her anxiety from her friends. They can tell because she is tired, quieter and fidgets with the rings on her fingers.
As a daughterMeredith is closer to her maternal family. She enjoys being at home. She is very comfortable there as an only child. She even secretly enjoys doing chores and routines if she gets to spend time with her mother when she goes home. By the end of the summer she is bored of the chores. By the end of term she is bored of the school routine. She is keen to get from one place to the other.
Meredith has a weaker bond with her father. They have things in common. She acts much more grown up around him. She is sad to have not grown up with married parents. She hopes that when she finds someone and settles down they stay together forever.
History: Meredith is the only daughter of Sandy Misslethorpe. Her paternal grandfather is the late Tobias Misslethorpe. He was the founding and first editor of Witch Weekly. Her mother is a healer of magical bugs at St Mungo's hospital.
She does not remember much of her time living in Bury St Edmunds. Her mother left her father when she was little. Her mother moved them back to London. They live with her maternal grandparents. They and her father funded a private muggle education for Meredith. This was luxury.
Meredith has tried artistic pursuits as creative writing, drawing, painting, dancing, learning instruments and singing. She enjoys singing. She is an accomplished harpist.
She had a bit of a culture shock when she arrived at Hogwarts in 2006. Boarding school was nothing new. In Meredith's opinion some of the other students were rather slow. Her Muggle school had been filled with children who had tutors. Overachievers. Meredith had been happy but not top of her class. She felt she was an intellectual superior at Hogwarts. This was not true. Meredith soon identified who was worth quietly competing with. By the end of her first year she had formed a group of friends.
In her third year she started arithmancy and muggle studies. She expected them to be easier for her upbringing. They were not so popular with Slytherins. She began to make more friends in other houses through those classes. Care of magical creatures was a popular choice for everyone. She chose it too.
She widened her friends again. Joined the Hogwarts Players. School Choir. Attended the Howler meetings informally. Just to see. She became a prefect. Her family were very proud.
As exam pressure increased Meredith focused on the subjects of most use to her. She feared failing subjects entirely. Meredith was less interested in astronomy and history of magic. But she could not fail them. She poured hours into the most useful subjects: charms, potions and transfiguration. She joined the potions club. She slept for a week after the exams.

Meredith only needs to take five NEWT subjects. She takes her outstanding subjects: arithmancy, charms, potions and transfiguration.
She then had to choose from herbology, creatures, muggle studies and defense. Her mother wanted her to choose herbology and defense so she could become a healer later. Meredith ruled out muggle studies first. It had limited use. She could learn from observing real Muggles in London and reading newspapers.
She had a soft spot for creatures. The logical choice was Herbology with potions. But she chose defense instead. She reassured herself she would drop it and pick up Herbology if she changed her mind. Or drop it later and do five like everyone else. She could learn herbology later if she needed it. Maybe she could do alchemy.
