[March 1st] I'll Apologize Later (Draco)

on August 23, 2020, 06:48:41 PM

Now came the day she had been dreading, she was already angry, and annoyed. Already disliking the classes, not that he wasn't a bad teacher but because she wasn't fond of the person. Sure they were trying to seem nice but it wasn't something she liked still. And now it was at her worst moments, trusting him with something that was so apparently important to her was now in another's hands.

Lucinda hugged herself as she wandered through the corridors. It was always freezing down here, how was it always cold? How could Slytherin's survive down here? Hufflepuffs were next to the kitchen so they had that to be warm with. Slytherin's must of just been lizards, like their namesake to survive the cold. It was how cold blooded creatures survived right?

She was not ready for this, she already hated Wolfsbane, it was foul, disgusting and was forced on her. Now her Wolfsbane was in charge of Draco Malfoy, sure it had been years since the war, sure she wasn't really around during the war. But she knows about it, his family being followers of You Know Who. She didn't like the idea that a DeathEater was in charge of her Wolfsbane. Even if the Headmaster trusts him, he erred on the side of caution too much but he can make mistakes and is too Hufflepuff.

She stopped outside the door, continuing to hug herself for warmth, she didn't want to try magic, she wasn't in the state of mind for it. She always struggled somewhat leading to the Full Moon, she could hold up for classes but not well. When its after class and she doesn't have to really work much it was much worse, she didn't need to control her emotions or feelings, If she tried to cast a flame now to warm herself up she'll likely be engulfed in the flames.

Without knocking she sighed and walked into the room, ready or not here she came.

"I'm here so lets this bull over with alright? I doubt you haven't been told about me so I suppose you have some Wolfsbane right? If not then what the hell are you doing and I'll bring it up with the ministry, I'm in contact with the head of the Werewolf wing." A massive exaggeration, outside of SAWS she hasn't met or seen Bruce really other then the newspaper. "So what's it going to be? You gonna give me the vomit inducing drink or am I going to report you to the ministry?"

She took a slight gulp, he could remove points from Gryffindor for this, however she needed to act strong and brave, he could kill her, he was a DeathEater right? But people would know, and she needed to assert her authority. Plus she just wanted this done with as soon as possible, it wasn't pleasant in the dungeons, the drink wasn't pleasant, even with Darkfall she didn't like this.

Draco had been informed by the Headmaster that there were a few students that would need the foul concoction of Wolfsbane potion.  Since it was one of the potions that he tried to enhance for his Mastery, he had no problem with brewing it. While it was a complicated potion to do, he had gotten started on it a few days before the week preceeding the full moon.  Draco did remember that the potion had to be taken several days before the full moon.

While he wasn't sure what student or students needed the potion, but Draco was sure that one or all of them might have problems accepting the potion from him.  After all these years, he still had people looking down on him for his indiscretions during the war.  Yes, he had become a Death Eater. Yes, he had assisted the Dark Lord, but some of those things he had done was to protect his mother.

Shaking his head, Draco left the potion under a stasis spell, as the only thing he had managed to do with his mastery was to make the potion last longer once brewed, he would no longer have to brew it multiple times, just make a large cauldron full and he would be fine.  It didn't store still, but as long as it was on a low flame under a stasis spell, it would be good.

Draco didn't expect the young girl to just walk into his classroom without knocking, but he hadn't locked the door anyway.  He could of brewed the potion in his private laboratory, but he didn't want any strangers in his private quarters.

Instead of rising to her words, he grabbed a goblet from his desk and walked over to the cauldron, pouring the liquid into the cup.  As the steam rose from it, he slowly walked the goblet over the the young girl, "Here." he said, trying his best to keep any heat or sarcasm out of his voice.

He didn't react, this was in many ways. Worse then him hexing her or taking away points. The calmness and lack of any reaction to her attempts of trying to seize the initiative in this encounter was worse then anything else. She kept her arms crossed at first, both the frustration of her being more or less ignored, along with the fact that she was now just straight to drinking the disgusting thing. She could think of many other foul things she would rather drink first.

She knew she'd just get angrier if she didn't manage to get a rise out of him, however she'd also be more frustrated if she kept trying to get a rise out of him and failed. She stood arms crossed and stared at the potion he was holding. Before reluctantly taking it, a small part mused over the fact that it's sort of messed up that a Goblet is a cup and not a baby Goblin.

With the potion now in hand she leaned back onto a desk and stared into it, she didn't want to drink it, she really didn't.

"You're acting dangerously calm, what poison did you put in?"

Taking a step back after she had taken the goblet, he heard her ask what kind of poison he put in it.  Draco paused, thinking back on what his old potions teacher would say and he was sorely tempted to answer back with a snarky comment.  "Well, if you don't want it." he began as he stepped back towards her to take back the goblet.

Lucinda blinked, then moved back without realizing she was doing so, was he really going to take the potion away? She didn't want to drink it, who would ever want to drink it, its foul, its filth. This place was freezing! Why wasn't magical central heating a thing? She glared up at the professor and hmphed as she moved the goblet away from Draco.

"No." She said in the most stern voice she could manage. "I'm asking you as to what you put into it. If this thing doesn't work, I'm told its extremely painful. It's already extremely painful. And if someone was to poison me. This would be the perfect time to do so." She didn't let her gaze shift a bit. Could Professor Malfoy be the one who led the attack on the Safehouse? He used to be a Deatheater, the most prominent Werewolf sided with You Know Who was Fenrir Greyback, but he was never allowed to be a Deatheater himself. They were impure to them...

He could be trying to start it up again...

"Look kid," he started with a sigh, "I would be the last person to try and poison you, if you haven't figured it out, I'm trying to get passed my past."  He leaned against his desk with his arms crossed.  "You don't want to take it, that's your problem, I made it for you according to the instructions, it looks like it's supposed to, do with it what you will."

She took a moment to process it, slowly she sat back on the desk while thinking, he was saying he wanted to leave the past behind, she could understand as to why, she didn't think she'd ever be able to trust him but he atleast didn't seem like an immediate threat to him. So she started to settle back, her body relaxing as she realizes he isn't about to straight up attack her or poison so obviously.

"Fine." She said bluntly before she closed her eyes, she took a few deep breathes. Then she downed the potion as quickly as she could manage, her entire body trembling as she did with a look of revulsion on her face as she tried to keep the drink down.

Reaching behind him to a pot of something on his desk, he pulled out a wrapped piece of candy and tossed it to the girl.  "Here," he said, hoping she caught it and it didn't fall to the floor first, "Eat that, it'll help with the taste."  He'd done some research on the Wolfsbane potion after all and even though he still had not found any way to improve it, he had stumbled upon something else.

He had learned from just studying under the mentor he had that one of the werewolves they had been using for testing had a fondness for candy.  Even though all of the subjects had been warned not to eat or drink anything before or after taking the potion, this particular wolf had been a teenager and not at all inclined to listen carefully.

Therefore, Draco had walked in his room just in time to see him pop a piece of butterscotch candy into his mouth. After scolding the boy for almost 10 minutes, Draco decided to see what happened.  And that was just it.  Nothing happened.  The potion still worked like it was supposed to without any of the usual effects of altering a potion.  But Draco realized, they weren't altering the potion, it was just like drinking water after taking a potion, there was no effect.

So the candy he had tossed the student sitting in his office was actually a peppermint, it was all he had on hand. "They were a gift, they aren't poisoned either." he said with a smirk, knowing she was probably thinking the same thing.

He threw something at her! She caught it but he was throwing stuff! She was already about to hurl and her movements to catch was NOT helping with that in the slightest! She shuddered as her body tried to lurch at the risk of it, like when you eat a chunk of mold on a slice of bread and it makes you take that immediate reaction. But she was managing, she can hold it off, nevermind the taste of the drink in general, or of the small amount that was pushed back up. She would be fine.

She looked over what was thrown at her, and heard faintly what he said, its not poisoned, but it is a peppermint, why was he giving her this? If she took it with the potion it won't work will it? She had been told previously there was no altering the flavour, it may clear her mouth but by this point the damage was done, and she lost what little of her appetite there was.

She turned it over in her hand slowly to inspect, feeling and looking much paler then she was before. "I-...i think I may be fine...thanks.." She muttered weakly, most of her fighting spirit burnt out by the potion, she'll get it back soon but she wasn't greatest now.
