ATTEMPTED BREAKOUT AT ST.MUNGO'S

LONDON - It was St.Valentine's Day and love was in the air. So, it seems, were other nefarious schemes. A day before the anniversary
[1] of his arrest, former Head of Mysteries Mortimer Gamp nearly escaped from the clutches of justice and healing when St.Mungo's Hospital was infiltrated by an imposter in the guise of his eldest son: well-known
Devia Orbis writer
Orion Gamp.
The true identity of the imposter in question? None other than the elusive
Lyra Gamp, Mortimer Gamp's other half, previously assumed missing or dead.
Authorities were alerted to the subterfuge of her disguise by the criminal couple's own children, Auror Andromeda Gamp and Being Division Head Cepheus Gamp, when they began to suspect that their brother was not who he appeared to be. It could have all been too little and too late if the pair had not acted at once - being amongst the first to catch their mother in the act
[2] on the Spell Damage floor, where Mortimer Gamp has been a patient since February 2011.
Thanks to the concerted efforts of Magical Law Enforcement and St.Mungo's staff, the escape was able to be foiled. Eye-witness accounts tell us that Healer-in-Charge Miranda Storm herself was key to these efforts.
"It's a testament to the quick-thinking and courage of our aurors," commented Law Enforcement Head, Solomon Carstairs, when reached for comment.
"And of course, the brave wixes at St.Mungo's!" he added.
The Department of Mysteries was contacted when informed that its current Head, Yavin Morgenthau, was also present at the day's explosive events, but no response could be elicited.
Lyra Gamp is currently in custody of Law Enforcement, where she will undergo thorough questioning before going on trial at the Wizengamot. The whereabouts of her husband was initially unknown - he disappeared mid-confrontation - but was later confirmed by the Ministry. Mortimer Gamp has irreversibly transformed himself into an umbrella.
