[February 18th] CV: Concealed Vampires (Terrence)

on March 30, 2020, 03:00:20 PM

Sam had been having a great day, who doesn't love wandering about London going to every single bar and store that has a sign up for work, handing in his CV and none of them really trusting you for not having a phone and turning you down. He didn't really care about working in a muggle place, the Goblins at Gringotts can exchange money for you from muggle to wizard so it wouldn't be bad to go to a muggle place for work if he could, but he got alot of strange looks when his CV had essentially nothing on it except the school he went to until he was 10. So that was great. He was even dressed nicely for the day! Wearing a blue button up shirt and black trousers, sure it wasn't most professional but it should of worked for bars! Thats like, all they ever wear! He thinks.

Now he was going into alleys hoping there are some obscure pubs and bars that are nice places, like one of those weird little hole in the wall bars or new wave places. So far doing so he has found some angry stares, a few dogs barking at him and atleast down one street a nice person asked if he wanted a good time, he was looking for work though and didn't know what types of games they were interested in so there was little chance both of them would have a good time. Nor did he really want to watch TV and he certainly couldn't have any drinks, but he didn't know why they would ask in an alley if you wanted to play monopoly with them. That never leads to a good time only arguments.

Eventually he found himself in residential areas, there must be stores around here right? Or local pubs that might hire him! He saw atleast one down the end of a road and headed in.

Clutching a CV paper he looked around at the old state of the place, how ancient was it? He didn't know that any muggle would let their place come to be like this unless they were some weird old man who plays the flute after every order. The peeling portraits and redwood furnishings, why was there a giant mirror behind the bar? Was it to add some weird vibes during the busy hours and make it look busier or some old trend to match the place?

Almost transfixed by the mirrors and as its the best place to ask a member of staff, since there is likely to be one there. He headed up to the bar.

"Hello?" He asked in a soft and gentle tone. Almost as if worried if he made too much noise a ceiling beam would collapse down.

What was it about his pub and young adults? Manning the bar, Anaïs Poole shot the coven leader a look and he followed her gaze to the shy new patron who'd just strolled in, looking greener even than the last few sprogs this past few months. Terry didn't mind - these curious kids, whether they ended up agreeing to being bitten (for they paid regardless) were good for extra pennies. But they were dull, one after the other, each clueless.

"Hello?" the barely-there voice addressed the bartender.
"Yes?" Poole continued pouring drinks, reaching for an empty glass that shot to her hand with a little telekinesis. "What you drinking?"

Hooker himself was in a booth with a pretty squib redhead who'd come for a high and stayed to chat. She didn't notice his preoccupation, rambling away about a muggle rave that was happening later tonight under the Lock bridge. "Hm, yes, luv, not my scene," he murmured to her so that she had a reason to change the subject.

He would wait and see, with the new kid who came in. Didn't look like their usual fare.

He was about to answer the bartender about drinks, her may have enough money for a pint, but not muggle money, even after spilling drinks at Alohomocha, he had reassessed his money, he wasn't eating much so he didn't have to spend much on food, so he could afford a drink or two, although depended on how much a shot of vodka was in the drink. But he stopped himself with a flinch as the glass magically moved to the persons hand!

It was a magical bar! That gave him a much better chance of atleast not being immediately kicked out when they saw the terrible CV. Although he didn't see a wand and if you were using a wand then it would just be easier to grab the glass, so they were very skilled in wandless magic, was that one of the things for the bar? That everyone was able to do wandless magic to get objects so that they can serve or clean up? Or was it just this bartender was skilled at it and just could naturally pull it off now?

"O-oh...thats a relief. I thought it was...a muggle place...location and all." He said quietly before doing his best to straighten his shirt and clear his throat to sound better, he needed to be more confident to help get a job didn't he?

"I was wondering if you were looking for additional staff at all? I have some experience in bars...I pulled a few pints in Germany and cleaned tables, I can do any hours that are needed, even the late night shifts." He thought he sounded somewhat confident, even with his voice remaining soft. He was happy he got it all out in one mostly unbroken go. He had a somewhat good feeling!

            "O-oh...thats a relief. I thought it was...a muggle place...location and all."

They got themselves a clueless dingbat. Anaïs was listening to the boy with a smirk on her face, and she glanced over at Terrence's booth. He gave her a shake of his head, his meal tonight still chattering white noise in one ear and out the other. The other vampire turned back to Sam, shrugging.

"Sorry luv," she grinned a little, flashing her sharp teeth, "We're a mostly vampire establishment, you see?" A jerk of her head to mirror, which only reflected the four or five humans in the bar.

Terry nudged the woman next to him, indicating he was done here. She waved, leaning back against the leather seat of the booth and dreamily watching him leave to approach the bar counter. Milking that high.

"Shot of my usual," he nodded at Anaïs, sliding on to a leather bar stool not far from their quiet new visitor. His eyes, black and gleaming, settled on the child for a moment as he wondered if there was any fun to be had here. But the wizard looked no more different than anyone who walked about Camden Town, and wouldn't have been a good fit for Hookers even if they were looking for mortal hands.

Didn't even seem all that good for scaring. "Get on your way, kid." Terrence reached for the blood liquor Anaïs had promptly poured. "Try the stables[1] in the light of day."

A vampire establishment? He had found a vampire bar? How? He was just stumbling around london aimlessly looking for work and he'd just found himself a vampire den! Well, wouldn't be a den would it? Just a place where vampires are, doesn't mean a den. Unless everywhere that they hang out is a den which just seems...like a logistical nightmare really, how would you manage them if everyone has a den? Or are dens just where they hang out like how some people call their homes a crib? It didn't matter either way he had found a vampire place, so that was good right?

She was gesturing towards the mirror, which showed off...oh...he was feeling very out of place, he wasn't so much worried about the vampires, why would he be? They seemed nice? After all he just walked in and started asking for a job without even knowing what the place was, fact he wasn't kicked out or mocked, to him, made them seem nice. And he didn't have a reason to fear them, vampires aren't monsters, they were people, so they wouldn't have a reason to attack him.

He was intruding on their home, there were other wix there, he could see them in the mirror, which creeped him out a little at being able to see through people with a mirror, but they could be here by invite or be friends, he wasn't in either group. She did say mostly but that may just be for him to not feel that bad?

Someone else was speaking now, seeing him with his...black eyes and...Sam had to clear his head quickly, hating that his cheeks heated for every even remotely good looking man who spoke to him, but he managed to get over it and nodded. The markets, maybe, during the day. It was a lead and that was good enough! Vampires were nice and helpful!

"Uh..th-...thank you..." He said in response, it would be rude not to! But that brought up another question that he had, if any would pay for...feeding...despite being sort of sure it was a way to make money it started seeming fairly rude to ask, after all they couldn't help that they needed feeding off blood and it must of been a sensitive issue right? He'd only met one vampire before and they got very angry whenever anyone pricked themselves.

Although he wanted to leave, and the man said to move on, he started deliberating in his head over whether to ask the question or not, shifting from one foot to another slowly as he gently bit his bottom lip.

            "Uh..th-...thank you..."

The kid seemed to understand but then he just stood there, like he was waiting. Terry and Anaïs exchanged a look, the latter raising her hands with a shrug. Don't look at me, you're the boss. He licked the crimson liquor off his lips, jutting his chin out with a jerk at the young wizard. "Wot? You simple?" he raised his eyebrows and gestured at the door.

"Out. This ain't a playground ," Hooker explained, deciding that it was possible the child was somewhat slow, " 'less you're looking to drink or be drunk."

Who the hell walked around asking for jobs anyway? Even he knew the muggles used those glowing tablets they carried around, and the magical folk who did come in for work usually possessed a particular set of skills useful to vampire covens.

Sam flinched and took a few steps back at the sudden...abruptness of it. He had annoyed them! He didn't mean to do that! They must just have alot on their plate right now without him being awkward, it wasn't the first time..he was always an annoyance to people and never worked well with groups or people in general, he had grown used to it, but he didn't want to annoy them! They had enough in their life...unlife? To go with let alone him pestering them.

"I-i'm so sorry! Its just I met this one..vampire before while travelling europe...and I was wondering whether to ask as he said that some... may offer to pay...for...feeding..." He wrapped both of his arms around himself and looked down at the ground, he didn't mean to blurt it out but they were getting annoyed and he didn't want to leave a bad impression! But he knew it was a personal thing and..

"I...i'm so sorry...it is just... I wasn't sure if to ask... as i didn't know...if it would be rude...." He quickly wiped at his eyes with a finger before adding on quietly, although he was aware they would be able to hear him. "I don't have much money right now...and so didn't know if to ask as you both seem...nice..."

He decided that they really were in the presence of a simpleton. Terry gave their guest a hard look, thinking: didn't seem like anyone would miss a sprog like this if they went missing. Except they might miss him, and he didn't need more MLE knocking on his door asking questions like the ones Tristan brought over last year.

"Leave." Hooker shook his head, lip pulling back in a sneer of disgust. "In this town you pay for the fucking privilege of being touched by one of us, mate."

Anaïs, sensing the coven leader's displeasure, joined in - the same way she always did, the same way she had jeered at little Nemo retreating with her bitten boy friend. "If you don't know it's rude, luv, you don't say it, yea?" she raised her hand in a shooing motion. "Have some brains."

The older vampire snorted, and Anaïs continued with pleasure. "Get out before someone here changes their mind 'bout letting you leave on two feet."

Terry got up even as she spoke, rubbing his face as he turned away. All. These. Bloody. Kids.

They were getting angry, and now, now. They were scary, he had insulted them and now they were hostile. People who are hostile are scary, much much scarier then those who aren't hostile. The fact he doesn't know what Vampires can do, well he had some clue, but it was so many years ago now, made it more dangerous. A Wix you can defend against, not that he was particularly skilled with fighting but atleast he could somewhat predict what he needed to counter with. He wasn't sure on how aggressive they would be, how old they are, or what they may be capable of.

And he didn't want to fight, so there was that.

His hand fumbled inside his pocket and quickly he put a couple of sickles on the counter of the bar. "I-i'm really sorry..." He said softly, he didn't have a way to apologize properly, and they didn't want him around at all, he figured at the very least it may of been an apology for wasting their time.

He started to hurry out of the bar quickly, not wanting to anger them further or waste more of their time, although the man said to go to the Stable Markets...he didn't think he would do that, he didn't feel like he could come back to this area of the city again...maybe it would be better that way.

Once out of the door he would head quickly back the way he came, he wanted to go home...
