We had our first meeting for SAWS a few weeks ago. It was très désordre but nothing good ever comes without a fight. Who says bold action is only for Gryffindors?

Anyway, I was wondering if you knew any werewolf experts who'd come talk to our club? I think it'd be February after classes or on a weekend. There were a lot of questions last meeting about super basic stuff, so instead of me trying to get them right. I was hoping you might know an actual werewolf, but I just want them to know that ... uh ... kids can be little turds sometimes.

I heard you had a SAWS meeting! (Ayla mentioned it). It's not easy to take the first step and I'm glad you did. Hufflepuffs are the best at taking the first step and then taking more steps until they are um, until they've walked lots of steps. (that sounded better in my head).

I mentioned SAWS to Bruce at the Ministry, and she said she'd be interested in speaking with you. She's the head of the Werewolf Wing on Level Four and she's used to handling a lot of turds. I mean, there are lots and lots of people at the Ministry who are bigger turds that we ever were.

Call her Bruce Ballentyne when you write to her! It would probably be good to talk to Knox the Headmaster first about what date/times would work best for a visit, unless you're arranging it at Hogsmeade or something like that.

How are you? Write to me - nothing too weird or dangerous is happening right now.

Fauna, thank you so so so so so so much. Bruce Ballentyne was in the Daily Prophet yesterday and she sounds like a proper badass.

Greyfriar and I aren't exactly best friends (bad marks, word getting out about club turmoil, the lot of having a fight in the great hall over those stupid fliers). We can't have the thing in Hogsmeade bc the firsties, so ugh, you're right.  Must get the king's blessing. He'll probably be sad we didn't ask him. Like, "well Miss Pepper I can't pretend not to notice that you've eshewed the resources available in this caslte in fact this office in fact the werewolf sitting behind this desk in front of you and that i must say hur dur bur bur..."

Other than SAWS stuff, nothing's going on. School's boring, boys are stupid, Ayla is dating a git. (what else is new, poor sweet biscuit) Light in the darkness: I FINALLY TURNED 17! I'll take Apparating this term. Too bad I won't be able to use it until summer, but then I'll be cracking. Watch yer back, Blake.

Anytime! Bruce is a badass. She cares about making positive changes and she's really good at seeing both sides of an issue. Tell your SAWS friends not to be too.. turdy?

I am in stitches over your Knox sketch even though I must say Zeta "I'd never go hur dur bur bur, but hur hur hum instead and it's really just a pleasure to see you in my office without having to summon you! oho you want to start a SAWS meeting I may have heard a little about that and I've actually spoken to Bruce before (I've no idea if he has) and I can think of no better speaker, now have you considered this and this (advice) or considered this (more advice), a few words of wisdom that come with age haha, but don't mind me, I'm just your humble Headmaster!"

(I do try to call him Knox? He told me I could once, and I try to remember but sometimes I slip up. It's still weird. There's no good title for former professors/headmasters.)

Ugh are we talking about the same flier. I had a little freak out and stomped on one of the fliers with my Auror boot and got scolded for 'destroying evidence' until we saw all the others arrive in the paper. Er. I'm sorry it caused trouble at school. It's an awful, shitty thing.

Zeta, happy birthday! Ahhh you're an adult now! I wish you all the luck with your apparition test. I failed mine the first time, so don't put too much pressure on yourself. When you get your license, it's the best feeling, and you can go basically anywhere.

Is Ayla dating the bloke who disrupted the SAWS meeting? I'm meeting up with her during the Hogsmeade weekend, so I'm sure I'll find out then, but I'm curious.

Greyfriar said yes! He was weird as usual and I got a speech but he had mercy after fifteen minutes. And he said yes! Can you tell Bruce maybe 17th of Feb? That'd be the Friday after Hogsmeade weekend. Otherwise we can push it back. Sooner the better, especially because of the 'eradicate werewolf'.(I tried to save one for posterity but I think Storm burned them all.) We'll get a room and snacks. But yes, please ask her.

And YES! Ayla kissed Rigel. I can't even believe it, but whatever. Maybe she'll fix him. Because that's how that works, right? Fauna, I swear I'm off boys. ANYway.

I knew he'd say yes! And noooo Zeta, that doodle was only meant for you! Possibly other Hufflepuffs. Ahhh I'm so embarrassed.

I'll ask Bruce about February 10th first thing when I see her. You should write to her, if you have the time. She's friendly and not fussed about formalities. Tell her that you're one of the coolest Hufflepuffs I know. Passionate. Passionate = cool.

I'll talk to Ayla. Boys aren't terrible, but girls are better? haha I'm crossing this out but I know you'll still see it.

Um to answer your serious question.

Do I think anything bad is going to happen on the next full moon.

I feel terrible saying this, but yes... I do. I think an attempt will be made to launch more attacks. And I hate that. I hate the thought of it happening, but it's a real possibility. Considering that we've already faced several targeted attacks, I don't think we're going to get a break anytime soon. That's the sad truth.

That being said...

The thing about people who do these shitty things? They will screw up. They're doing too much, too fast. And they want the attention (the flier), they want us to chase them, they don't want us to catch them, but we will. (we as in the amazing force that is lvl 2 and lvl 4 and many others combined).

I wish I had more hopeful things to tell you.

But hey, actually, you've inspired me to look into what's happening at Hogwarts. I'm going to send Knox a nosy owl...

Just for your own info, the flier basically said: "Eradicate the werewolf threat, the only way to ensure our safety is to push for a werewolf-free future. Register! No more werewolves in pubs, streets, schools blah blah blah horrible shitty person I am"

I feel gross just writing it. But there you go.

The world is burning and I hate it. It's hard to know what to do to stop the violence and I know the answer is to do your best in the community you're a part of but we can't all run off and be aurors. So posters and badges and getting into fights in the great hall for now. Burning down part of the castle in protest seems a bit over the top for now. Joking not joking but actually joking. (not joking).

Are you doing anything for the heteronormative compulsory coupling ritual coming up? My friend Osha's throwing an unsanctioned party.

I have no plans yet for Valentine's Day itself (oh no, it's coming up, isn't it), as I have work that day. I have work that day. Aw damn it.

However... the weekend after Valentine's Day, my girlfriend

I'm going on a weekend trip with my girlfriend the girl I'm dating. Woman I'm dating? Womanfriend. I might ask her to be my girlfriend. She's a very cool girl witch. Her name is Tia. She works with Bruce sometimes on Lvl 4 as a werewolf mentor.

Have you asked anyone to the unsanctioned-compulsory-coupling-ritual-party? Sounds fun! The unsanctioned part, I mean.
