After a light lunch of avocado salad and coconut milk, Vienna exited the Great Hall and went for a walk in the gardens. It was hard to believe the year would soon be over, not that Vienna was complaining, of course. As much as she loved Hogwarts, she could do without the never-ending essays and the exams and the silly Hufflepuffs who would gladly feed her to the ghouls if given the chance. Pet peeves aside, this school year was not without redeeming memories. She would miss the Quidditch games, the midnight paintball matches, and her Slytherin housemates (not Trent, but Ava, yes, albeit grudgingly)
Vienna sighed and stared wistfully into the distance. She spotted Mara Vladimirescu under the trees and strolled over. The girl looked impeccable in those designer sunglasses, as always, if not a little foreboding as well. Mara came from old money and always held herself with an aristocratic aloofness those outside of their circle would kill to possess. She was terribly proud and in many ways, not unlike Vienna. Though Mara was a staunch purist and Vienna often disagreed with her views, they were united by their common love for money and all things beautiful.
She sat down on the grass beside Mara and smoothed out the imaginary wrinkles in her dress. “Lovely day, isn’t it?” Vienna shielded her eyes from the sun and murmured absent-mindedly to her friend. “I wish that second-year over there would stop prancing around in those ghastly tie-dye socks,” She pointed towards a diminutive blonde laughing by the willow tree, “Kind of ruins the view, don’t you think?”
