It is to my misfortune I have contracted the recently reported magical malady, Praecantatio Deliquus, according to our Head Healer. I have the 'fortune' to be diagnosed by my good wife. She has subsequently quarantined me to quarters at our home in Hogsmeade for at least this week.

She intends to notify you in due course.

The owl was quickly returned, a quick trip from Hogwarts castle down to Hogsmeade.

What a joy it must be to receive the personal ministrations of such an accomplished Healer. I hope she knows more than what the papers are saying. The students will miss you dearly. We'll keep everything in order until your return, which I hope very much eventually comes.

I'll reserve a bed in the hospital wing here for you. We'll be receiving a few student similarly affected and your chaperone would be welcome. I'm a boor for bringing it up, but nothing asked nothing granted.

Dear Headmaster Greyfriar,

Unfortunately, Ignan appears to have contracted Praecantatio Deliquus which is the malady currently spreading around the country. You may have heard it being referred to as ‘Magical Measels’, a ridiculous name, but people are ridiculous. One such person happens to be my husband, who tried to subdue and keep his malady a secret with pepperup potion. The wonders will never cease.

If he hasn’t done himself any considerable damage with his woeful actions, you should expect to see him in a week or so. I will keep you updated.

I would also appreciate it you could refrain from sending him any work which he requests. He is on sick leave, he needs to understand what that means.

Madam Storm,

Your husband's well-being is among my most cherished concerns. I shall endeavor to completely isolate him from any Hogwarts affairs other than the well-wishes of his pupils.

On a related matter, I expect that Hogwarts has endured my ham-handed and half-hearted attempts at school nurse long enough. Thankfully, last term brought no catastrophes but at a certain point my interference will be found out and there will be owls. Praecantatio Deliquus may have a silver lining in that I now have enough leverage to blackmail you into sending help, oh please send help.

Anyone will do so long as they are not me.
