A letter arrives at the mansion early in the morning, 14 December, before 7 a.m. by owl. The envelope is blank except a name  written across the front.

If it's not a bother, can I stay over at your place tonight? I would be arriving around eight or so, depending on work.

If you're busy or have other plans I completely understand.

Owl returns a little later than one might anticipate, followed closely behind by the small elf owl, Jack, who delivers the response, looking very pleased with himself.

Dear Moira,

It is, of course, no bother at all.  You are more than welcome to stay and I should be home by eight.  Chances are, I'll be finishing up evening chores in the barn but you're welcome to either look for me there or go directly to the house.  Giada knows your coming and can let you in.
