Behind the name:
Vanessa: means butterfly, her great grandmother on her mother's side's name
Michelle: means who is like God, named after the song of the same name by the Beatles that her parents listened to when they were dating

Wand:
Vanessa inherited her wand from her mother, and her grandmother before that. It is a dogwood wand with a fairy hair core and a bent shaft, a mischievous, quirky, entertaining wand adept in appearance charms but not very powerful. The wood is stained a light creamy colour and a swirling pattern is engraved up and down it

Job duties and how they are gone about:
Vanessa loves her job, not even minding how much hard work and stress it comes with, though at times she finds the paparazzi somewhat annoying and wishes they could stop snooping. She's very passionate about it, not nearly so much so about modelling, which she only really does just to spread her name that little bit more. Vanessa's songs are based off of her life and her music style generally stays close to pop (think Ariana Grande/Taylor Swift ish) though she's got the occasional slower song in there.

Vanessa's musical experience since...well since she was a baby really, has lead to an extensive knowledge and the ability to play many an instrument. She loves to sing of course, with the range roughly of a mezzo soprano and a beautiful singing voice, and has a natural talent in song writing.

Vanessa's a flirt and a looker who's charming nature and musical talent has thrown her up in the world. She's your girl if you want a secret kept or just some good ol fashioned troublemaking fun but due to a bad experience with dating and her parents' divorce she's got commitment and trust issues. That and being somewhat vain and shallow.

Personality

The wizarding world can tell you that Vanessa's a charismatic and charming individual with a knack of making people feel special when they're around her. They can also tell you that she's a flirt and a notorious heart breaker who's made her way through an impressive amount of guys despite being still young. Why she does that though, they can only guess.

The real reason is that after her parents' divorce and the feeling of helplessness that came with it, the sense of power that came with flirting and playing with people's heads became just that little bit more appealing to the point that she feels threatened when she doesn't have a certain degree of control over someone. Vanessa's divorced parents has also lead to commitment and trust issues so while she'll sleep around and maybe even agree for a few dates, she's very wary of more serious relationships and won't start one unless she really likes the person.

Vanessa loves to perform and the attention that comes with it. She's quite vain so the attention she gets and the compliments that come with it are a huge bonus to her job. But even without these, Vanessa wouldn't do anything else for all the money in the world. She loves to sing, play instruments and write music, finding it a very good way to pour out any emotions. Vanessa cares a lot about her reputation, at times being quite shallow, and is very proud of the success she has had, but isn't exactly a prideful person. She's perfectly willing to accept criticism, just as long as it is useful. Still, she won't stand for just plain rudeness and won't hesitate to snap back if anyone tries to bring her down.

Vanessa is quite a fun loving and mischievous girl, always up for some trouble making and not one to take things very seriously( to the point where she can be quite irresponsible), though this is the complete opposite when it comes to her career. She's non judgemental most of the time, but can't understand things like lack of personal grooming and not pursuing your dreams. If you want a secret kept, Vanessa is the one to go to, she's an excellent liar.

History

Vanessa was born a few years after her elder brother Oliver to muggle singer/songwriter Aaron Carson and pureblood Sabrina Carson (originally Fawley) in the royal London hospital at precisely 4am in the morning. She lived an average childhood, brought up in the muggle world, but aware she was a witch.
Asides from her yearly visits to wizarding relations, the only strange thing about Vanessa's childhood was how in the first few years of her life (until Aaron retired in 1997), she spent a lot of time on tour with her singer/songwriter dad and mother who also acted as his manager.

As Vanessa spent the first five years of her life surrounded by professional musicians, it's no wonder that she developed a love for music and interest in taking it on as a career. As a little girl, she even used to sing sentences (albeit very offkey) instead of speaking normally.
At 6, Vanessa had started taking singing lessons, and at 7 she had started piano lessons. These were taken to like a duck to water and more and more was piled on. Acoustic guitar lessons at 9, electric guitar at 10, violin at 13, drums at 14, ukulele at 15, until she was practicing musical instruments for anything from 3 to 6 hours a day. Yet she still stuck to the music path, actually enjoying everything she did and even started writing her own pieces around the time she started Hogwarts.

At school, Vanessa never really showed much promise in her schoolwork, asides from the odd appearance charm(her speciality). Her written work showed lack of effort and her practical a lack of skill. She was a regular in detention for substandard work, lack of effort in class, or sometimes not even turning up in the first place.
Despite this, Vanessa quite enjoyed school. She was a very popular girl, her charismatic nature drew people towards her, though to find a teacher that liked Vanessa was, and still is, nigh impossible. Vanessa started dating Connor in their 4th year.

It was hardly a surprise when Vanessa dropped out immediately after her OWLs (which were awful by the way).She had spoken of it a lot in her fifth year, talking of big plans to become a famous singer/songwriter.
However, her parents had mixed views about it. Vanessa's dad was all for it, but her mother wasn't, and the disagreement caused a lot of tension which proved the breaking point in a relationship already strained from various arguments and the inability of Vanessa's mother to have a second child. This lead to a divorce when Vanessa was 16.

In light of the divorce, the Carson family life took a turn for the worse. With Aaron and Sabrina refusing to talk, or even look at each other, and Oliver blaming it all on Vanessa, Vanessa felt( and still feels) like she was surrounded by children all absorbed in their petty blame games and feuds.

Vanessa searched the wizarding world for a producing deal. She scored her big break by performing on the WWN at witching hour with an original song of her own. This, combined with interest from muggleborns/halfbloods who knew of her from the muggle world, sent her popularity sky rocketing and in no time at all a wizarding producer deal was scored and Vanessa began producing music consistantly.

Career wise,Vanessa's popularity is large and only increasing. While she isn't quite on the level of the weird sisters yet, she's taken the wizarding world by storm in 18 months or so and is getting there, impressive considering her young age. Vanessa released her first album 5 months ago and has performed it live at various concerts, it being a massive success. She has released 1 single from her second album but hasnt finished it yet. Vanessa frequently features in magazines like Witch Weekly(props to Sarah/Niobe for the photo, we stan a talented queen). She has began to dabble a bit in modelling.
